Hello everyone, we appreciate all the support here and understand how being able to import and export bank rules would help with clean up, and save time in updating or adding bank rules.
The idea has been closely considered, however we want to be transparent that building this specific feature is not on our roadmap.
Our current focus within bank reconciliation is on delivering more automation and intelligent tools to help you reconcile faster. This includes improving the core functionality of how Xero suggests and matches transactions, ultimately aiming to reduce the need for manual rule creation and management.
We're confident that these broader improvements will help streamline your workflow and address some of the underlying pain points you've raised. We appreciate your passion and feedback on this topic, and you can stay up to date with what's coming for bank reconciliation and other features on The Long and Short…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on bulk allocation of credit notes, everyone. We understand that manually applying credit notes one by one can be time-consuming, and we appreciate wanting a a faster, more streamlined solution.
Currently, while we know it won't be the flow that suits all, it's possible to apply credit notes to multiple invoices for a single contact by opening the credit note and selecting the invoices to apply it to.
Atm, we're in the process of releasing a new experience for Sales Credit Notes. This work will enable us to develop changes like you're asking here longer term. However, the initial release is focused on developing existing features into the new Credit Notes experience. Once this is fully rolled out the team will have more capacity to consider enhancements like bulk allocations, however we want to be upfront that this isn't planned for the short term.

Same for overpayments - instead of filling the amounts in individually, could there be a "TICK BOX" to allocate the amount next to the invoice/bill? This counts for suppliers and customer payments alike.

I feel the same... SARS expects a report for suppliers and/or customers showing exactly the invoice/bill with the payment (not the allocated version) and it is very difficult to get such a simple report in Xero. Surely cannot be that difficult to do.

Hi everyone, we get how a 'pause' button would help when juggling multiple tasks, and avoid the need to stop and restart the timer. We want to be honest that there aren't any plans for developing a pause option within XPM. Our teams focus for the time being is on development of the unified practice experience that'll soon be released with the Xero Partner Hub. You can read more on this through our website.

Hi everyone, appreciate your feedback on merging chart of accounts. We understand how this could be useful for tidying up accounts, especially after system conversions or when duplicate accounts appear.
While there’s no merge function right now, there are a couple of options that might help:
- You can use Find & Recode (available to users with the Adviser role) to move transactions from one account to another before archiving the accounts. We know this won’t suit every situation, as it requires unlocking periods.
- In financial reports, if you have several related accounts, you can edit the layout to group them for easier review and analysis.
After reviewing this idea, the product team has noted this is Not in pipeline, meaning it’s not something we’re planning in the near term. The idea will stay open for votes, and we’ll continue keeping an eye on the level of interest here.

To be able to merge same name and type accounts in the chart of accounts. Sometimes when we convert from other accounting programmes - there are numerous accounts that are the same type (i.e., expense) and also the same item (i.e., motor vehicle expenses and/or motor vehicle repairs) To be able to merge this same type of accounts to simplify the chart of accounts and eventually the final P&L or TB or Balance sheet reports.

Hello everyone, we want to let you know that we’ve recently released the ability to convert PDF bank statements into pre-formatted CSV files in Xero (Read more on our blog for more information).
Currently, this feature is only available in the US and Canada. We know this tool will also be valuable to other regions and we'll be sure to update you with any new information about it becoming available globally.
For now, we’ll move the status of this idea to ‘Under review’. So keep voting and give us your input on how this feature can benefit your workflow!

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.
Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!
Yes - absolutely crucial for productivity.
