Hi everyone, thank you for your continued passion, and sharing how having the ability to group or combine line items within an invoice would give you the control to present information to your clients in the best way for your business.
In lieu of a direct feature, while I appreciate it won’t fit all needs here, the inbuilt calculator may help in some cases to combine costs of multiple lines to one, and we appreciate there are some customers that have explored third-party apps with more extensive functionality for the time being to full-fill their needs.
We’re updating the status of this idea to Accepted - While this isn’t on our roadmap atm, we see the value in this suggestion and it’ll be considered as we plan our future roadmap. We’ll update this thread if we have any more news to share.

Hi everyone, appreciate this idea has been in a state of Under review fro some time. While it was something our teams we're looking into, this work has had to be put down with other priorities that have transcended.
For now, we'll shift back to 'submitted' where we can continue to track appetite. We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change in this space. Thanks

It sounds like the suppliers payment details maybe held somewhere on the original bill that's been entered, Laura - Is this correct?
Is this detail that would commonly change for a supplier you work with? Generally when creating a batch this information is pulled from the contacts record.

Hi everyone, our product teams are continuously reviewing and reprioritising their roadmaps for future work and although we don’t have any plans to change the credit application process this year, this is something we will investigate more closely in 2026.
As we begin to explore work for enabling credit notes in the bill payments flow, we’ll reach out for input to help us shape the design and approach so we cater for the widest possible requirements. Thank you all, and we’ll be back to share when exploration starts.

This would be so helpful! I always create batch deposits against customer remittance advice, but when you come to reconcile you can't search for the batch by customer name

Hi team, work for requesting and accept deposit payments has progressed well. We're now just entering the stage of rolling out a solution powered by Stripe to a limited group of users.
As mentioned in my last update - we're extremely grateful to our community here, who have shared their interest and provided feedback on how deposits in invoicing would meet your needs. We'd love to hear your feedback on our developments for this feature early and have included anyone that has voted on this idea and is connected to Stripe in the first group rollout - You'll receive a banner in your organisation on how to make use of this soon.

This is being asked for regularly by customers who will regularly not accept statements by pdf anymore.

This is requested by customers more and more. I know it is possible to create a receivable invoice summary report, filtered by customer and by status, but it isn't branded in the same way and leaves margin for error in the filtering.

Agreed! I can't send a reminder for a sales invoice from a locked period, but expenses can be created in a locked period??

The really irritating thing is that the link does exist- you can just click on edit billable expense and see the bill it is linked to....UNTIL you mark the invoice is paid and then the ability to see it disappears and you just have the useless note that it was a billable expense. The only way to find your way back to the original bill is to remove the payment.

Really frustrating that the first invoice you send will be correct, because you can set the discount to an amount, but when you repeat the invoice it has to change to a percentage, so subsequent invoices will be different to the original because of rounding. I can't overcharge the client so we have to miss out on the pennies difference, which over hundreds of invoices, repeated monthly, adds up to wasted money, and as said below looks unprofessional.

Is there any update on this? Currently there is one notification that pops up that says the document can't be edited because it is in a locked period (clearly we're not actually trying to edit the invoice itself just the record associated with it), but then underneath is another notification saying 'invoice sent'. Nothing appears in the notes, so I have to assume it hasn't sent, but if it has, I am going to really annoy my customer by sending another reminder once I've unlocked the period to send it.

I'm sure this used to be a functionality?
Am I right that the only way to view the aged debtors and then send statements is to click on the customer, then click on one of the invoices, then click the contact and then send a statement? That's very long winded.
Obviously we used the aged report to choose who needs a follow up. The contact screen only tells us they're overdue, which could be a day or a month, so it doesn't give enough information for good credit control.

It's bizarre to not include the net column as default. When you're running the report to get a breakdown of the P&L value, you naturally want the Net column so it agrees back to P&L!

Hi community, thanks for your input for the idea here. While we're in the process of releasing an update for applying payments to an invoice we want to be upfront here that this does not involve being able to attach a file when making a payment, from the invoice.
Once a payment is applied, you can click within the banner to 'View invoice' then on the payment link within the invoice where you can attach a file directly within the payment transaction.
We will continue to keep a track and share if there are any plans made around this idea, here.

This would be really useful. To add the payment from the invoice requires several extra clicks to be able to add a document -even if it gave the option to view payment, rather than just view invoice after saving, that would be better

Creating custom reports in Xero is great. They look perfect on screen. The formatting for coloured variance tracking is lost if you export to excel and if the report splits across pages in pdf it is messy and loses value
