Hey everyone, thank you for all your feedback. We’re on a long journey to provide more granular access and controls within Xero features that our customers need.

As you may have seen in some of our recent updates across other user roles ideas we’re currently in the process of adding more permissions within Reporting and Inventory. Further to this our research has highlighted Payroll and Banking as areas that more controls are most needed, and are on our agenda as we continue to develop permissions and access to features.

Your feedback here and through direct engagements with our teams have been extremely insightful, and we appreciate all your inputs.

I'll continue to provide updates on the development of roles for features as we progress.

Hey everyone, thanks so much for sharing all your ideas and detailed suggestions for a comprehensive Audit Trail Report.

Through some of the comments in this discussion we wanted to highlight the Journal Report that may help with visibility of detail some are after. We've taken on board your thoughts on how this could be enhanced, like including an 'edited date' column and improving the export to Excel, however this is not in the roadmap right now.

Being open, providing a complete audit trail of every single event and change within an organisation is not in our plans.

That said, it’d help to gather interest in specific items you'd like to see added within the history and notes and I've shared links to a few ideas that have already been started on the platform. We welcome you to add your vote, or start a new idea for those that'd be…

I wholly agree with Jason Grant comment December 29, 2023 09:37 in this thread.

The current audit trail & assurance dashboard was once a good starting point.
And while Xero capabilities have grown over the years. It seems the audit/assurance trail side of things has not kept pace.

If I want to check who has pulled what reports and when, there is no information. There isn't even an assurance category called "reports".

If I want to check who has made what changes to an employee's Pay Template (e.g. what was their rate of pay before it was changed), I cannot. I have to review payslips or start looking through payroll reports.

In my opinion, the lack of audit/assurance capabilities in Xero is exacerbated because of the limited options of User Permission levels that exist.

I feel Xero needs to invest time/resources into further developing the audit/assurance aspect of the software.

Hey team, 👋 "Can I take this holiday?" - Now, we know this is one of the most common questions employees ask, and it's one we'd like to be able to help you solve with Xero Payroll.

    We'd love your help in shaping the future of Leave projections in Xero - As a start, please share any detail about;

    • What information you normally need for calculating future leave balances currently?
    • What would you need to see or understand to trust that the projected balance is accurate?

We're also looking to set up a research session to dive deeper into your current process and explore options wth us - If you'd be willing to give some time, take a few minutes to fill in our survey📝 and we'll be in touch in the coming days. Thanks!

This is a basic requirement and should be reasonably straight forward to create.

Xero users that need to process customer quotes/invoices and view customer accounts should NOT have any access to contacts derived from payroll (or any other contacts beyond customers)!!

The same for Xero users that need to be able to process supplier POs and bills. They need to be able to view vendor accounts but they should NOT have access to contacts derived from payroll (or any other contacts beyond vendors)!!

It is insane that there is no security feature (or locking feature) or role distinction existing in Xero to resolve this matter.

Hi community, thanks so much for all the interest we received. The teams interview spots filled up quickly and they are now fully booked.

Apologies if you didn't manage to sign up to one of the interviews — We really appreciate your enthusiasm and may reopen the link for future research rounds. We will make sure to update here if there's more opportunity.

We will be back to share outcomes from the teams exploration.
