We've reviewed your idea to show the Trial Balance by category and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.
In the meantime, did you know that you can group the Trial Balance by 'Account Class' or 'Account Type'? Whilst not the exact functionality requested, these options allow you to split the accounts up within the report.
Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

Hi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.
We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.
Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.
We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Hi team, while we released the ability to run the Trial balance for a date range to our US customers last year, we appreciate there's quite a bit of appetite for this in other regions and have re-opened the idea so we can engage with you all and consider whether this feature can be expanded.
We'd love to get more insights of the needs in running this report for a date range for customers based in regions outside US.

Literally every report in my management accounts pack runs off the trial balance. Without tracking categories in the trial balance, I can't run any of my reports. What is the point of the tracking categories if you can't use them to analyse any of the reports? The tracking summary report is useless because you can only see an overall balance.
