  2. Ability to record an annual shutdown leave.

  6. Ability to email payslip before the pay run is posted. This way the employee can come back to the pay clerk with any feedback on hours or allowances before the pay run is completed and filed through to myir. The reduces the need to revert the pay run before the "final" posting and payment made to employees. Reverting the pay run impacts on IRD when IRD have begun their processing as they have to do a manual amendment to pick up any changes once the pay run is re-posted.   7. Add a date option on the Taxes and Filings tab to add the PAYE payment date. This would easily show if the payment has already been set in advance without having to log into internet banking to double check.

  8. With the current financial climate, employees are suspending their KiwiSaver contributions. The Inland Revenue (IR) allows the Employer to continue with the company's contribution voluntarily.

    At this stage, it is not 'officially' possible for the employer to contribute to KiwiSaver if the employee is on a Savings Suspension in Xero.

    The employee is on a Savings suspension, then the company cannot contribute either. Also, when on a savings suspension Xero requires an expiry date, IR does not always provide a date; instead, advising us when to recommence the KiwiSaver.

  10. At the moment Xero Payroll calculates OWE by using information from the pay template only. Xero Payroll also recommends use of minimum hours as best practice, and allowing the hourly rate to lift if the average is higher than minimum hours. Works well. However, many employees have minimum hours and work more hours regularly, but they don't always work the same number, they might have periods of more work, and other periods of less.   11. When downloading the individual payslip it would be nice if the PDF would say the persons name rather than the default filename of Payslip (1) etc
    Other payroll software such as Shape does this. Shame that Xero doesn't

    Hi team, thanks for sharing your interest in a payroll product for Canada. We don't have any plans in the near term for developing specific payroll products for other regions, and I will move this idea to Not planned. 

    If you've been using our Global Pay Run product you may have recently received communication of changes we're making that we believe will help you manage your payroll more effectively. 

    • From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date. 
    • Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.

  14. I think it would be great to have a submit for approval option in timesheets on the web version just like you can with invoices and bills. I am a third party bookkeeper and therefore Xero Me isn't really an option because, I am not an employee so I can't really use Xero me and if a timesheet is submitted by an employee, it has to be sent to me for approval for editing to ensure it comes through to payroll correctly for processing as an approved timesheet cannot be edited in payroll.   16. With the advent of Open Banking, it would be great if when you submit the payroll, it could also utilise OB to physically make the payment to the employee also. This would help automate the whole payroll process.

The Pensions Act 2008 requires all employers to enrol their eligible employees into an auto-enrolment compliant qualifying workplace pension scheme, if they are not already in one, and pay specified minimum contributions. At the moment there is no way to check if and when the letter was sent to the employer. As this is a point on our audit checklist for all our clients would it be possible to add a field showing the date when the letter was sent out to an employee or ideally add it to a pension report.

  19. Please create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently deductions can only be managed via balance sheet and/or by adding reimbursement to enable it to be transferred via EFT. Quickbooks and some other payroll software have this ability and it makes life so much easier and clearer for the emlployee too.

  20. I work in the payroll team at a business where the majority of our employees are on salaries that include super. This means every July, I have to go into every person's pay template and recalculate what their new salary is (because xero works only on an excluding super basis).

    My suggestion: The ability to select whether a salary is including or excluding super per employee. Then every year when the statutory super amount goes up, I won't have to recalculate everyone's new salary for xero. This also means that an employee's payslip has the same salary as what is…
