    Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.

    We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.

    In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:

    • Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
    • Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.

  2. I use Projects as timesheets for my staff in my contracting business, and it has worked well for the past two years. I do not use Xero process staff wages, I use ACE Payroll.

    After a staff member leaves, I delete them from Projects, as it costs me $7.50 per month per person, and when you have between 20-25 staff, it can get quite expensive.

    Once I delete a staff member from Xero, I cannot change any of their time entries. The reason I need to do this is usually because they have allocated his/her time against the wrong project.

    Appreciate the detail in your idea here, Lynette. While we don't have immediate work planned for this , it'll be good to get a sense of the interest from others in the community and if there's any change planned we'll let you know through the idea here.

  3. Allow self employed who are not VAT registered to use MTD.
    I've just signed up to submit accounts via MTD with HMRC but Xero currently don't allow me to do this unless I use an accountant. I use Xero so I don't need an accountant... I'm now a bit stuck as HMRC require me to submit account for the current 2025-2026 tax year this way and I have no way of doing this. Please help! thanks.

    Thanks for your interest in Xero’s MTD for IT beta and for sharing this idea here. In the first phase of our beta, we’re only supporting Xero Partners.


    However this will be rolled out to users without an accountant, please complete our expression of interest form to register your interest and we’ll be in touch when we have more information on expanding the beta.   4. When reviewing reports (e.g., Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet), we often need to view monthly data from the start of the fiscal year up to the current month. Right now, we have to manually select the first and last day of each month every time, which is time-consuming and repetitive. This makes simple tasks like flicking through months to verify data more cumbersome than necessary.

    1. Add “Previous Month” / “Next Month” buttons These buttons would auto-update the report’s date range to the previous or next full month.

    Example: From May 1 – May 31, clicking "Next" moves the report to…

    We don't have any plans for adding more common date options in reports atm, but we'll begin to get a feel of the interest in this from your idea.

  5. Chart of Accounts - Increase "Bank Account Number" Limit

    Currently the account number is limited to 20 characters.

    A International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is the standard for bank account numbers in Europe. I can be as much as 34 characters long.

    Please extend the length of the Bank Account Number to 34 characters.

  7. Navigation - Main Menu
    Personally, I access practice tools and hubdoc / syft several times daily, I'd prefer not thave to scroll down to get to these. Settings and Subscription / Billing are access much less frequently and coud me lower in the menu.
    Also the Xero Menu and Home Menu seem to do exactly the same thing? Could the main drop down menu therefore be moved over to the LHS where it was previously.

  8. Is there any way in employees card that we can set up a field to capture diversity (Aboriginal,Non-Binary) etc, I'm sure this will be need in the future.

  10. It would be massively helpful to be able to preview the PDF invoice instead of having to click on and download it each time. If you could preview it alongside where you are inputting data on a Purchase invoice that you have sent to Xero by email - then you can check details side by side rather than having to print out the paper versions. Would be much more efficient

  11. It would be good if on the taxable payments annual report, when it shows that the ABN has been 'provided' that this is also linked whether the ABN status is GST registered or not. This would be an easy checking tool that the GST charges has been properly done so and would make the person lodging the form to easily identify whether or not GST should be charged or not.   12. When you lodge BAS using Xero automation, it creates a draft Bill. My idea is that the BAS report the bill is based on, is also uploaded to the draft Bill as an attachment.

  14. The receiving of PGG Wrightson's bank feeds within 4 working days of end of month (as currently stated in support/help) seems to no longer be the standard time frame.

    Can you please review with PGGW whether the time frame provided needs updating so we don't need to keep contacting support for confirmation as to whether there is an issue or just a slow month when feeds aren't through by that 4th working day.

    No one wants a repeat of April 2025 when the feeds were not received until 19th May.

    Hi community, this idea has been created from feedback in this initial idea. While we are interested to get a better pulse on the interest in this, we want to front foot that we don't have any plans for this change.

    Switching from landscape to portrait was made based on a lot of feedback and testing, so we'd want to see a fair amount of support through the idea here to consider making another change.

  16. When preparing monthly CIS returns on xero you need to create a bill for the subcontractor and reconcile/mark the bill as paid. When you have clients that have on average 80 to 120 subcontractors the bill creation even with a bill template can be time consuming.
    Something to consider is whether creating a bill could be removed from this process and the CIS return be prepared simply from a spend money to a CIS enable contact.
    Also something else that can be time consuming when dealing with this volume of subcontractors is downloading the monthly CIS payment certificates as clients…

    Hey Steve, thanks for sharing this idea. We get that it’s an extra step having to create a job sheet in another tool after you’ve already prepared the quote in Xero, and how a more streamlined flow would save you time.

    One option for now is to use Xero Projects to track time and expenses against your work. While we know this doesn't give you that specific printable job sheet for your team on the go, it's the best way to manage the work in Xero right now. Another user has also helpfully highlighted how they use quote templates to create job sheets in Xero.

    Alternatively, as you’ve mentioned, there are options on the Xero App Store that may provide the solution you’re looking for here.

  18. Add tracking categories to the find and match function on the bank reconciliation screen. this would make matching payments to invoices easier for my clients as they have payments taken via DD per branch

  20. It would be good to beable to add employees Annual bonuses into xero so we don't have to refer to their contracts each time. As well as a report that will show employees details Remuneration, Bonuses etc
