  1. I use Xero projects for freelancing and invoicing my clients and I track my time with the time tracker. For that, I need to open Xero or my app which takes time. Freshbooks had a time tracking extension which really worked great and I miss it so much. Is super easy and I can pause/ start the counter with just one click.

  2. I was recently asked by a client how create a formatted PDF list of their contacts in Xero with addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses etc.

    They had been asked for this by their factoring provider.

    I know they can select all contacts and use the option at the top of the screen to export, but that creates a csv file which obviously doesn't have any formatting and runs the risk of it being opened in Excel which then messes up phone numbers etc (we are in the UK where phone numbers start 0 and Excel 'helpfully' removes this when opening…

    Thanks for the extra detail, Ross and apologies I never rounded back on this here. While we also don't have plans for creating a report that includes all the detail from a contacts record atm I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here and we'll continue to track interest in this here. If any plans are made down the line I'll be sure to let you know on the idea here.

  3. I'd like to see a chat /conversational interface like ChatGPT where we can ask it questions like

    What was our profitability last month?
    Where is our biggest opportunity to cost cut?

    If I want to get profit to $*** with the same revenues what areas should I focus on cutting the most?

    The goal here is to have conversational chat with Xero to dig through the data that's there and find action items to improve the business finances.

  4. I have a particular client where we use tracking categories. We have set up a tracking category called jobs so hours and expenses can be allocated to these jobs. However, errors occur, and it would be great to be able to reallocate find and recode just like you can do with other times to move those hours or expense from one job to another.

  5. Would like to suggest that Xero adds an option for the user to be able to extract activity statements exclusive of any taxes on the invoices listed on the statements.

    This would assist calculating the costs of projects less the tax implications, especially for tax vendors.

    Hi Zolani, is there any reason you'd like this specifically within the customer statement? 

    Our Receivable Invoice Detail report may be of help to calculating the costs you're after, instead? 

    You can select to include Net, Gross or tax columns in the report so you can see the breakdown when the report is run. If you only need to view for a single contact you'll be able to add a filter where you can select the contact you'd like to run the report for. 

  6. If the company uses the Go Cardless payment feature, it would be good to have the fuctionality to know if a direct debit has failed

  7. We would like to be able to go next and back through GST periods/returns on xero. At the moment you have to got back into the GST report tab to see the next/previous period. You should just be able to click next or pervious off to the side

  8. I need to run a report in Xero that sees the variance in purchaser cost price on a month by month basis for a product group not based on sales/bills
    Otherwise the only way is by an Excel spreadsheet

  9. Is it possible to change the annual leave or personal leave displayed on the payroll activity details report to be the actually leave dates that the employee has taken. Currently the dates next to the annual leave or personal leave line is the pay date (which for reporting purposes is misleading as the employee didn't have leave on these dates).

As the Standard user role is required to send a customer receipts for invoice payments or receive money transactions (https://central.xero.com/s/article/Send-a-receipt-to-a-customer), clerical staff assigned this role can view all bank account balances. As most business owners would prefer that bank balances remain confidential, adding the ability to generate customer receipts to the Invoices Only role would alleviate this concern.

  11. Line items on a remittance. When making a batch payment the remittance should show a breakdown on the invoices paid with refernces, not just the total amount paid.

  13. It would be great to be able to choose which headings are visible on the default invoices view. There are some customisable reports which allow you to run a report with your preferred view. But for others such as repeating invoices there are no options.

    Our company has different teams, so for these it would be good to customise the column headers, to show the contact groups the client belongs to. This would allow us to forecast what upcoming invoices are due for each team, so that they can allocate resources accordingly.

  15. Currently if you export your fixed asset register, the dates are exported in mm/dd/yyyy format. If you use the dd/mm/yyyy format, then the figures are wrong in excel. e.g. 06 April is read as 04 June (and the figure eg 44088 is the wrong one). Other dates come as text e.g. 2/28/2022 and are not read at all. It should be possible to export them as number eg. 44080, which can be formatted as required.

  16. When trying to identify how many new contacts have been added in a certain period it is impossible without pulling months of billing and sorting by client name. Also would be great for marketing to know about Client anniversaries.

    Simply by adding a field for the date added when setting up the record would be ideal, it could then be shown on the exported contacts report.

  17. There should be an option to make the description field for users completing their timesheets mandatory. This would enable Project Managers and Finance Managers to view more detailed information other than the number of hours worked on tasks.

    Currently many users do not fill in the description because it is not compulsory, which means that this detail is lost and decisions surrounding resourcing of Projects are not as accurate.

    This is critical to businesses where R&D is a large area and therefore efficient Project Management is key. As this may not be critical to all business using the Projects Module,…

We would like to be able to hide certain bank accounts on the dashboard so our employees who reconcile our bank accounts don't also see our payroll bank account (same with loan accounts, savings accounts etc) where the wages get paid from. I.e. the ability to edit the dashboard and 'hide' a bank account for certain employees/ Xero users. Currently as I understand, editing the dashboard is unique to the logged in user.

    Hi Heiko, even if you were to hide the bank account from the dashboard, if the user has permissions that enable them to access bank accounts they would be able to view this information somewhere else. 

    It sounds like you'd be interested in the idea across here asking for the ability to restrict access to bank accounts. Would this be correct? 

    If so, I'll merge to keep this feedback altogether. 

  19. I feel it would be very useful that once a payroll is processed and the system uploads payslips into Xero Me that the employees either get an email from the system or the associated app notifies the employee that there is a new payslip available to view.

    I understand that Xero can securely email payslips, but I think that it would be useful for Xero had the ability to be able to automatically notify employees of uploads into Xero Me

  20. When adding new Pay Items in Australia, Reportable as W1 should be ticked as a ticked as the default as the vast majority of Pay Items in Australia are Reportable under W1.

    Every time the award changes and we import pay items from Deputy, the new items have Reportable as W1 turned off and we have to manually change them.

    Changing the Xero default may or may not fix that problem but it should be the default nonetheless.
