Email Settings - Specify date/time to send transactions
Ability to specify date/time when users’ want to send emails from Xero.
Purpose: So clients/customers can receive the email during the working hours and not at random time.

Hey everyone, we've seen all your votes and comments, and we totally get it – not being able to schedule one-off invoices or pick specific send times is a real pain point. Your feedback makes it clear how much time it costs you and how it can affect your client relationships.
Right now, repeat invoice templates go some way to providing some automation. But we know that's not quite what you're asking for when it comes to those one-off invoices or more precise timing for all your emails.
The good news is, our product team is digging in to the work that'd be needed to develop a solution, and figuring out the best way to make this happen. While we can't give any promises just yet, please know that your feedback is a huge part of this discovery process. Keep those comments and votes coming!
We'll post another update here as soon as we have more news to share.

Hi, this is even more useful when your date for sending invoice is a on a bank holiday or if you are a freelancer and you want them to be sent while you are off/annual leave. It is a necessary feature and it seems silly that we will have to prep invoices and download them in pdf and then schedule emails to be sent.

how hard is it to add a function to the invoice to be able to schedule the email for future date. Gmail does it.

Totally agree. I would love to be able to set up an invoice and add 'send on' dates for those that are variable, but regular sends. I don't particularly want to log in on the 30th 31st Dec or the 1st jan - but I can't see any other way. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder why we moved to Xero.

Come on Xero, the earliest comment on this thread is 2012. As a web and software developer I do understand that sometimes things aren't as simple to implement as it may appear to an outsider, but you've implemented a whole bunch of unnecessary things like the new interface in the meantime. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, "We really don't care about the new interface - the old interface was completely fine." You keep increasing the costs without adding new functionality. Slicker UI's aren't important. How about looking at some of these fairly basic feature requests instead?

In response to Tim's comment, I have already falling into this trap thinking that the all singing all dancing Xero would have this most basic of features.

In the meantime, it's not clear from the interface whether setting an issue date into the future is connected to when it will be emailed.
People could easily assume setting a future date, then hitting "approve and email" will mean it goes out on that date (why *wouldn't* that be how it works, really?)
I had to Google it and find community threads of people asking the same question. -

I would like to be able to create an invoice, approve it, and then schedule it to send out on a future date.
Currently the only way to do this is with repeating invoices. However, if I have a series of invoices going to the same client, but with different details (items and amounts), then I have to set up an individual repeating invoice for each instance, and set each one to send only once. it would make more sense to just be able to create a single invoice and set a "send on" date.

Rereading all the other comments I cannot believe this is still outstanding.
I also cannot believe Xero was recommended to us as we were using QuickBooks in the UK for many years which for my money is far superior because you get telephone support you can schedule invoices and you can do stage payments.
Xero Is costing us double what QuickBooks costs and we're told to use a third party app to make these things happen, Is this just a cartel trying to milk us for all the money they can.

Under review? This should have been a matter of 'good idea - let's implement it', not a year's worth of review and no action.

I cannot believe how many fundamental, no brainer things that Xero lacks. This to me I would have thought was a fundamental item for invoicing.
This product is expensive and despite the rave reviews as a non-accounting person I think it is sadly lacking in basic functionality.

I often whip up an invoice a few days before it should be sent. It would be wonderful to have the option to "Schedule" or "delay" SEND, like with Outlook...
Click schedule send, pick the date, confirm and forget about it because it goes out to the customer when you want. This shouldn't be confused with repeat invoicing... just a once off invoice.

We are considering changing to another platform. Do not understand why this was not a priority considering most of the competition has had this feature for a long time.
Please make this a priority... -

Frustrated new customer, just finding out this feature isn't included in xero yet??? Coming from another much cheaper platform which had this feature I'd say it an essential requirement for any new-age invoicing app!

The ability to schedule email invoicing would be invaluable.

This is a very great feature to have. I would like the ability to schedule my invoices to be sent on a specific date and time.

Particularly in light of the new legislation regarding contacting staff outside of working hours.

I have eight separate client payruns that are due between Christmas this year and when I get back into the office again. I'd really like to be able to schedule the sending of payslips so that I don't have to log in while on annual leave (which is illegal for an employer to require in Australia) to send the payslips within one day of the various paydays (which is a legal requirement in Australia).
