New invoicing - Edit exchange rate

It is currently not possible to change the exchange rate used in the new invoicing screen, when invoicing in a foreign currency. You have to switch back to classic invoicing to correct it to the monthly rate we have entered in settings.

Hi team, we have recently released the ability to set the exchange rate within new invoicing for organisations that use multi-currency.

Just like classic, as soon as the invoice currency is changed to a currency other than the orgs base currency, the option to 'Set exchange rate' will appear which you can click to edit.

We know this is an important feature you've been waiting for in the new experience, and we're really keen for you to try it out and share any feedback you have back with us here. Thanks!

    Hi there, it already 2025 and the future are still not available. Please do something about it. We have a lot of client with different currency.

    Also need to be able to see the exchange rate when editing a draft from a repeating invoice like before, this is essential for us as a business and is yet again creating unnecessary steps on the new version

    Is there any update on this? I need to be able to edit the exchange rate on invoices and I am about to lose the ability to do this with New Invoicing. We may consider switching to another accounting package if there is no fix for this.

    If the editable exchange rate does not make it into the new invoicing before the old one is removed, I will have to replace Xero with a different accounting package.

    14 days and counting...Xero is gaslighting its own customers at the same time as charging them more for an inferior product. Time to get consumer affairs involved, start considering legal advice and maybe even speak to the media about this shambles...

    I see that the reply from Xero was in July and this was going to be addressed 'in the coming weeks' - has there been a fix for this yet? I can't find anything in the menu to allow me to change the exchange rate on an invoice yet, and new invoicing is rolling out this month - maybe I'm missing something....

    Please let us know when this exchange rate function will be available under your new invoicing. We cannot follow your xero exchange rate. For our invoicing - we use of Malaysia Central Bank rate while upon payment received, we use our bank's exchange rate for our bank reconciliation purposes.

    In Thailand, if a company chooses to use the exchange rate provided by the Bank of Thailand or a major commercial bank, it must continue to use that exchange rate consistently. The company should adjust the exchange rate according to our bank, rather than using the Xero rate.

    Changing exchange rate function is still useful for our practice. Please consider adding this function in the new invoicing system.

    It’s important that we can adjust the exchange rate for foreign currency transactions to accurately localize the transaction value per local regulations. Ideally, this functionality would be similar to what’s available in the classic invoicing model.

    Additionally, it would be beneficial if we could specify the exchange rate directly when importing AP into Xero. Enhancing the system to allow batch settlement of currency invoices would also streamline the process significantly.

    I hope the system can be enhanced further rather than being restricted.

    The exchange rate used is important for localizing the transaction value according to local regulations. We need the ability to edit the exchange rate for foreign currency, similar to the classic invoicing model.

    Editing exchange rate for invoicing is crucial for us. Can you let us know when it will be available ? Please ensure that this function is readily available before you proceed with the switchover to the new invoicing on 19/11/24. Thanks.
