Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

Keep both version of invoicing please.
The new version has way too much spacing on screen. So when there is a very large invoice (with many rows) it is very hard to see the invoice.
The classic invoicing - is much much more pleasant & easier to look at.I am not sure why you just don't keep both versions & let your customers choose which version they want to use?
Please see my examples attached.

I am also in support of keeping the classic invoicing available. We use the Project Management System and invoicing from there via Custom Connect, so we cannot afford to even try to test to risk being able to invoice our clients. We are a small business and don't have time to spend on testing these insignificant "improvements".

Please Xero, if you are going to retire classic invoicing, at least provide the same functionality at a minimum. The new invoicing is completely useless!

Jackie, I do so agree with you. HOWEVER, XERO ARE ARROGENT and will not listen to users. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE.
I have the home addresses of two Auckland Directors, who I can let you have if you want to write to them by snail mail. I believe the Product Development people are out of control and acting as a law unto themselves OR the Directors are subordinate to the Product Developers.
All in XERO is a software house that no longer listens to its users.

PLEASE LET US HAVE TO OPTION TO CHOOSE IF WE WANT TO USE CLASSIC INVOICING VS THE NEW INVOICING... because the new invoicing really stinks - too many clicks, too clunky.. The Classic Invoicing was so user friendly; I do not understand the change to add so many clicks ugh!! When a lot of us work 50-60 hours a week, all these extra clicks per invoice just adds more time to complete our work. And I do not see any resulting improvement with the new invoicing.

New invoicing is incredibly slow and click-heavy - things that used to take one click (attach file) now takes three (dropdown, edit, attach file). The UI for each click is slow. I will be holding off on the switch as long as possible.

Come on - us users need to realize that XERO is run by the Product Development Group NOT management!
It is crazy but given the lack of action by Directors /Management/CEO and the failed attempt to implement an unwanted upgrade it is clear that XERO is out of control.
SEEMS LIKE A MOTION OF "NO CONFERDENCE" at the next XERO AGM is needed!

It appears the developers work in complete opposition to Xero's Corporate Governance Statement. Here is the opening statement:
Xero’s purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors and communities around the world. Xero is a purposeled, values-driven business, and the Board of Xero (Board) is committed to a culture that seeks to embed and uphold high standards of corporate governance. The Board recognises the importance of this to good decision-making and long-term value creation.

I so agree with Suzue in keeping the Classic Invoicing and also her questioning the ability of the developers ability. To have so many comments AGAINST the new invoicing so close to its launch shows hoe INEPT the developers are.
WHY DO THE DEVELOPERS INSUST IN IGNORING YJE REQESTS BY USERS for other improvements that are supported by 100's of users. It seems to me they are a law to themselves and not being managed by Management or Directors.
Come on XERO Directors get this roge group under control and listen to your users.

As has been the case with almost all new Xero design features in the past few years, the new invoicing layout is clunky and worse than classic.
Apart from being visually confusing (bad layout), there are several annoying things -
- When I add a new tracking option, it used to be able to be done from within the invoice. Now a new page pops up and there are additional steps to add a new tracking option. Not streamlined at all.
- Might I add an aside - when archiving tracking options there is no option to bulk archive. Please for the love of god add this.
- When copying an invoice to a duplicate invoice, the company is not auto filled - annoying if this is what you want.
And agreed with all other points below. This is a step backwards. I think Xero need to question their developers - it is not making the platform more usable. It's getting worse and worse...

New invoice has created a series of "coincidental "errors in XERO
GST being the most frustrating oneThe new invoicing is horrible to work with and caused a series of over checking and should be scrapped Nothing good about this compulsory change and why would you change something that was magic to work with and now this clunky invoicing that offer E invoice and that's it.
Really no improvement just frustration
I used to email via network key and now that is not working all the time -

I've had to zoom out all my tabs/windows to 80% in order to make the New Invoicing slightly more functional - it hurts less for text to be too small than for text to be too far apart. Unfortunately, this means that I have to manually zoom back in on non-Xero tabs when I want to read something, and when creating or editing an invoice, the border between line item descriptions disappears when at 90% or less.

Another case of not listening to users.
Apparently, users are controlled by software developers! This is the wrong way around.

Adding my vote to this.
I run 3 instances of Xero (2 companies and a personal instance) and I HATE the new invoicing scree for all the reasons listed below.
It feels like the team at Xero have told a designer (that has never issued an invoice in their life) to make this screen look aesthetic, and have given no importance or concern to actual users and their preference for a highly functional interface.
This is not a lifetyle app on your phone where you need to thing about "immersing your user in some kind of journey/experience. This is a really practical tool that users use extensively and you should prioritise functionality and usability. The new layout will just drive people away to explore new options.
Please reconsider this and have 2 experiences (or frankly, give up on the new invoice design and try again), or at very least make significant changes / improvements to the new invoicing screen so that it is still usable before turning off the old design.

Please, I could not find anywhere to provide feedback on the new invoicing format to be released. I have been trying it now for about a month and honestly, not impressed. A couple of notes - I went to find my product codes to set up new invoice lines and only the most recent used appear. I had to go find the names of lines to find them as they don't show in a drop down list. My other feedback is that when I am in awaiting payments applying payments one after another, if the invoice is fully paid, it changes e to the category 'paid'. I don't want this, I want to remain in the awaiting payments group. Really frustrating when you keep searching for an invoice and you've been moved to a different category. Thank you.

And then for the ‘email’ button to be hidden in a submenu forever more? I’m not sure they appreciate how often I have to send these invoices multiple times when they aren’t getting paid. We don’t all exist in a world where you can send it once and people pay on time.

Why on earth would you make the Approve button default to "Approve & Email"? Truly baffling that no-one in the development team thought that might be a problem.

Please do not adopt the New Invoicing - it takes longer to process.
I batch invoice and silly things like the Save and Close button being further away from the typed fields, and not being able to add a payment when you generate the invoice are really irritating and unnecessarily time consuming. -

KEEP CLASSIC INVOICING - it works. You are trying to replace it with something all your users HATE can you not see that, when you have been using something that works really well for years you dont want an inferior product that does not do the same thing.....
Alot of users are ready to jump ship, invoicing is a vital part of ALL BUSINESSES - fix it
