New Invoicing | Files - Drag & drop anywhere on the page
In old invoicing, you can just drag and drop the file into the window and it uploads. In new invoicing, you have to drop it in the box at the bottom of the page. Fair to say this is tedious!
Hi community, we appreciate you engaging and letting us know the importance of drag and dropping files into your invoices.
Since the release of the attach files feature within new invoicing our teams have being paying close attention to feedback and understand the efficiency you need in this process.
This is something our team are looking to make improvements for and we'll shift the idea to working on it. As this develops I'll keep you updated of news and provide more detail through the idea, here.

100% agree; everywhere else in the software you can just drag your backup onto the screen to attach it. But in invoicing we have to scroll to the bottom and then hit an extra box? This is extremely inefficient and tedious.

I'm really disappointed with the new invoicing in Xero. Who wants to create a pdf to view the tax details. Sorry but thats just wrong. Also the screen isn't showing everything so you have to scroll down to add a document. Please make it more compact and show everything on the one screen for quicker input and creation.

Very Critical, some days I have to enter huge amounts of invoices.

Very critical. I don't want to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page of a large invoice & then have to click the down arrow - just to drop a file into an invoice.

New invoicing could do this prior to the update earlier this year. I have used drag and drop on to the invoices in the "New" Layout since 2022. Please revert this feature back; you are making the "New Invoice" feature worse.
Why would you have an attachment method different and slower than the other functions on Xero? e.g. Credit notes, Bills etc. -

As of today I will be reverting back to classic invoicing until Xero get their stuff together and listen to their users. They've increased their fee and listen less. I thought this wasn't a firm just after our money? Hmmm...

The new idea is a retrograde move

I still use Classic invoicing due to New Invoicing feeling like a step backwards. Drag and Drop is how most power users work from myself to everyone I've ever seen.

Yes, drag and drop is the way forward. Dropdowns and clicking buttons to find the file you already have in another window is doing it backwards

Please retain current drag and drop feature of "old" (ie. works well and no one was complaining) invoicing. Attaching files should be quick and seamless not yet another drop down menu selection to choose from with mouse clicks.

Just another idea that the higher ups at Xero don't give a toss about and just increase our costs.

Haven't yet to shifted to the new invoicing, unlike the new "GST Experience" atleast we have sometime to come to terms with the extra difficulties of this change

Very annoying that drag and drop is not like it used to be. On top of the need to scroll down and click on attaching file, the field disappears while I move the mouse to pick the file. I have to click two or three times on attach file until the field stays open and document can be dropped there.
Entering bills are no problem, just drag and drop wherever and the receipt is attached to entry. -

As someone who has to add multiple files to invoicing for timesheets, POs, receipts. This is now taking even longer to do!!! Why the change? It makes absolutely NO sense! And has created way more steps in the process. Just leave it as drop and drag!!!

This is taking me forever to add attachments to invoices, so frustrating. Why would you add a step to a process that was working really well?
I would also love if we could add an attachment in the Invoices section and not actually have to open up an invoice. Then you could go down the list of invoices adding all the different attachments or for that matter be able to update the date/due date/reference in this area rather than clicking into the invoice. Why didn't changes like this get made, rather than just the look and feel and no real practical improvements?

This isn't anything to do with old/new invoices pages, the new invoicing did allow you to drag a file onto any area of the screen before about May 2024, since then you now have to scroll down, and click the attachments box first then drag on to it.
It was a feature in new invoicing that was simply removed. Why??? -
Yazz Bhatti commented
Why has this functionality changed?
Why does Xero try to emulate worse software?
Who exactly is on your focus groups that tests out your software? -

Dragging files form anywhere in Windows down to the taskbar which brings the Xero web page up and then drop was possible with existing invoicing, why is this not still working with "new invoicing" that I am sure you will force customers to use in the near future. Without this basic capabilities I have not turn it on as it is a must

just literally raised this with support its made my job alot longer now with raising invoices as having to click on the drop down and then drop it into the small box where before it was literally just drop into the screen

Ridiculous change! Why make a task take longer? That is not an improvement but a step backwards.
