New Invoicing | Files - Drag & drop anywhere on the page
In old invoicing, you can just drag and drop the file into the window and it uploads. In new invoicing, you have to drop it in the box at the bottom of the page. Fair to say this is tedious!

Hi team, returning to confirm that the ability to drag & drop files anywhere on the page in new invoicing has now been released to everyone. We hope you find this enhancement helps speed up and make attaching your files more efficient as you invoice.
Just a reminder that you'll need to add a contact to the invoice first, and if you'd like to include files when sending to your customer, select the 'Attach files to email' checkbox once uploaded.
Thank you all for your engagement, votes and staying updated with us through this idea.
We understand some customers workflows mean they would like to attach files before adding contacts and while this isn't something that's available right now, I'd recommend making sure you've joined this idea for any updates.

it is so time consuming to add files now. why would this feature be removed in the first place? its so difficult constantly having to be try be quick in order to add the file. Please bring it back!!!

This "feature" takes so much more time and is inefficient. Please can we have back the drag and drop. It was one of the best things about xero.

Strongly agree - There is now an extra step to click "attach files" and then you need to have precise mouse skills to land the file in the small space allowed before it disappears.

not sure why this was removed for new invoicing bring back drag and drop anywhere on the screen,
has anyone else that the stupid little box closes if your not fast enough to bring the attachment across and then if you happen to drop into the browser displays the PDF, causing you to have to go back and if you didnt save at that point you loose everything and you have to start again. -

Agreed as this will reduce the amount of additional clicks and scrolling the new invoicing requires over classic invoicing. Please reduce the number of clicks and amount of scrolling

When you have tonnes of sales invoices to add, having to click the attach file box first then drag and drop specifically into that box for it to often close before you can drag the file in there is very frustrating and time consuming! Not to mention having to have the customers details in before you can even complete that step. Please change it to be able to drag anywhere at anytime.

Drop PDF directly into the sales invoice (without having to click "files") in the same way for purchase invoices. It is odd to have two different / inconsistent methods for adding supporting documents

I don't like the date field. I use different dates and Xero tries to guess what I might use but I still need to get in and use the calander.

100% agree. The new invoicing is painful to use. Not at all data entry friendly. Keep existing invoicing and just add new features. Please fix the document drag and drop before reverting to new invoicing.

It's extremely annoying that I can't drag & drop anymore (unless reverting to old invoicing). It's adding more clicks and steps for no reason. Please revert back before retiring the old invoicing (or better yet - keep the old invoicing and add new features rather than taking away useful features for the new invoicing).

100% agree; everywhere else in the software you can just drag your backup onto the screen to attach it. But in invoicing we have to scroll to the bottom and then hit an extra box? This is extremely inefficient and tedious.

I'm really disappointed with the new invoicing in Xero. Who wants to create a pdf to view the tax details. Sorry but thats just wrong. Also the screen isn't showing everything so you have to scroll down to add a document. Please make it more compact and show everything on the one screen for quicker input and creation.

Very Critical, some days I have to enter huge amounts of invoices.

Very critical. I don't want to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page of a large invoice & then have to click the down arrow - just to drop a file into an invoice.

New invoicing could do this prior to the update earlier this year. I have used drag and drop on to the invoices in the "New" Layout since 2022. Please revert this feature back; you are making the "New Invoice" feature worse.
Why would you have an attachment method different and slower than the other functions on Xero? e.g. Credit notes, Bills etc. -

As of today I will be reverting back to classic invoicing until Xero get their stuff together and listen to their users. They've increased their fee and listen less. I thought this wasn't a firm just after our money? Hmmm...

The new idea is a retrograde move

I still use Classic invoicing due to New Invoicing feeling like a step backwards. Drag and Drop is how most power users work from myself to everyone I've ever seen.

Yes, drag and drop is the way forward. Dropdowns and clicking buttons to find the file you already have in another window is doing it backwards

Please retain current drag and drop feature of "old" (ie. works well and no one was complaining) invoicing. Attaching files should be quick and seamless not yet another drop down menu selection to choose from with mouse clicks.
