When I log into Xero and bring up a 2FA code on my device ready to input, I automatically start typing. Then I look up to see that the digits are not in the input field, because you have to manually click on the field before you can add the 2FA. This gets me every time, and it drives me crazy!

If this page loaded with the cursor already in the box, it would be a lot more streamlined. At the moment, it's very pick-up, put-down:

1. Log in screen typing
2. 2FA screen pick up the device
3. Hand on mouse to click in the 2FA input field
4. Hands back on the keyboard to type in the the 2FA code
5. Then take hands off the keyboard again to click the Trust checkbox.

It feels kind of clunky?

This fix would increase usability so much!
I find it so annoying that I have to click into the MFA field manually(!) after taking attention of the screen to open and enable my Authenticator app on a different device.
Like others already wrote, fixing this should be a minor task for any web developer and it is surprising us users need to raise it here.

Changing the logon page to automatically move the cursor to the MFA field to allow immediate typing would take the developers a good 20 or 30 seconds to implement. This sort of lazy coding and lack of action when the issue is raised, does put a question mark over the amount of consideration our ideas are actually given by Xero...

Xero Login - set screen focus to the two-factor authentication (2FA) password.

Every time i start entering the two-factor authentication (2FA) password and then find its not set on the filed.

I log in and out of Xero dozens of times daily. the little square "Trust this device ticked" never works. Every time I need to log in, I need to go through the process again and again, email, password, authentication.
What I found really annoying and impractical is after keying in the password, the next screen is the authenticator code, if I do not take the mouse and point out into the authentication box, the numbers keyed in goes anywhere. This should be automated as MYOB and QuickBooks, BGL360, CAS360 have and many other accounting softwares. This will save me to watch the screen, I am a fast keyboard processor and this is very annoying.

This virtually how all other website with MFA work, as soon as the MFA dialogue box appears, this is selected as the input field.

It's a small thing, but, small things that you have to do EVERY DAY matter. It makes the logon process to Xero painful.

It must surely annoy Xero staff logging, because, it annoys customers.

I cannot think of another websites with MFA that I use that does not auto select the MFA entry box after entering a username and password.

Please can you change so when you login using 2FA that the cursor automatically goes into the number box

This is a small, annoying thing that impacts every xero customer like every other day. Please fix this.

I agree. It is not a big deal but a bit annoying. So is having to tick TRUST THIS DEVICE

Either way, such a simple change, 4 months on, no change that I can see.

Xero does go on about this procedure saying that they won't rush things because they want to get things right. It would be good if Xero would share their procedure for making changes. Because, as we see once again, that procedure lets through some very basic errors.

On the page after you log in, where you enter the Authenticator Code, why does the cursor not go to the box straight away instead of having to click in the box to enter the code?

Agree this is totally annoying lack of functionality feature. Lazy and sloppy programming. Many other MFA sites that we use have context focus to the MFA input field, and like other comments here I just start typing away thinking that I'm at that field.

When the multifactor authentication (MFA) page pops up the field to enter the code needs to autofocus with the cursor on page load so that the user can just start typing their code from their phone or app without needing to click on the code field.

It's such a small tweak that saves a mouse click when a user is probably already holding their phone in their hand ready for the page to load. I know that I often start typing the code from my phone without looking at the MFA page only to discover that the code field is not focused so I have to start again.

Many many banks have this small GUI feature on their MFA pages.

The developers just need to add a onload function that focuses on the code input field...

We all use Xero for our jobs and it's time consuming to keep having to vote and comment on product ideas and raise cases for basic functionality like this. Xero needs to really think about these small tweaks that will make using Xero as efficient as possible.

MFA - Can you guys have the cursor default into the text box when entering the 2FA. EVERY SINGLE TIME I get the code and start typing, only to find I have been typing into thin air. Then I click in the box, type it again, but the 2FA has timed out. Start again.

Please save me a week of my life by defaulting the cursor position into the 2FA text box. I know it is just a click of a button, but this feature could save decades of productivity across all Xero users, and it could be you that did it. Imagine the puffed up feeling that will give you. You might even get a medal from Angus Taylor.
