  1. Implement a feature to make it easier to ensure purchase bills are paid only after the corresponding sales invoice has been settled by the client. Ideally, this could be achieved by adding a visibility feature, such as a dedicated column (along with the already existing Type, Reference, Issue date, Due date, Paid date, Paid, Due, Total, and Status) in the ‘Activity - Bills’ tab of a contact. This would eliminate the need to manually search for each sales invoice or purchase bill reference. This column could be optional, as the others are.

Interesting idea here, thanks for sharing. Will be good to get a sense of the interest and other businesses that process sales and payments in this manner. Being open it's not something we have plans for atm, but we'll start to track the idea here and let you know if there is any plans made.

  2. It would be good to be able to set a mark up margin for loaded products and services. This way when our cost goes up we could just alter the cost price and it would automatically adjust the sale price rather than us having to work it out for every item and load it manually.

  4. Business dropdown menu

    1. ‘Bills to pay’ link goes to ‘Purchases overview > All’, showing all Paid and Unpaid.
This should go to Purchases overview > Awaiting payment’? The way it is now doesn’t seem logical, when we’ve clearly selected ‘Bills to pay’ not ‘Purchases overview’ or ‘See all’

    2. Menu option to Invoices ‘Awaiting Payment’ going directly to all outstanding invoices?

Hi Larina, we appreciate our customers have different preferences for the bills page they would like to default to and this option is available within the 3 dot menu on the Bills page.

From here you'll be able to set the Awaiting Payment screen as the default.

It's not possible to do this for the Invoices screen atm so I've slightly changed the title of your idea here to reflect that specifically. We'll continue to track the interest here and let you know if there's any progress.

  5. In QB you can "create a deposit" and in each line item, you can assign a customer, assign a GL account, class & amount. (there is also a line to assign to an invoice/customer ledger if you use those). You can then print a deposit slip from this as well!
    PLEASE make this function available.
It is a hassle to enter every check or payment into "Receive Money", then have to go back and try to match up all the correct payments to the bank deposit in the bank reconciliation.
But if we don't do it like that, we cannot…

  6. I would like for Xero to provide more detailed analytics about the exposure my business has to foreign currency, with existing foreign currency bank accounts, bills and invoices, but also based on averages regarding how much I am spending and receiving in each currency projecting that out into the future perhaps over the next quarter.

  7. Scenario - Multiple projects open. If materials are purchased at eg a builders merchants for mutliple projects on one invoice/receipt, it's not possible to allocate the spend to individual projects which is madness. It seems that the total invoice/receipt must be assigned to ONE particular project. When materials are bought, it's often far cheaper to buy them in bulk, hence buying for more than one project at the same time. It should be possible to therefore assign individual lines on the invoice to a particular project (a bit like tracking).

Hi Clare, if you're adding an expense from within a project, it's expected that the expense you're creating is related to the Project you're in. You could create a Bill within the Bills to pay area where you can assign individual lines of your bill to different Projects.

  8. Supplier bill payments for South Africa for payments and debit orders that directly pulls from Xero, like being done in the UK with Crezco, which can be done with Paysoft Flow (https://paysoftflow.co.za/) in South Africa for example.

  9. GoCardless offer Subscription Templates and the processes by which customers can sign up for them are simple and effective.

For my company offering Boiler Service Plans it would be great to use GoCardless to sign customers up, but then have Xero keep a record of Invoices and Direct Debit Payments.

I see it working like this: A customer visits our website and picks the Subscription Template that suits them. They click to set up a Direct Debit Mandate via GoCardless. That GoCardless Customer is matched to an existing Xero Contact or a new one is created. GoCardless then generates monthly…

  10. We charge our consultants at a different cost rate per customer project and pay them a different cost rate per engagement. This is negotiated with them at the start of the gig and applies only to that Project.

I want to set a different staff rate per project per staff member.

  11. We have to regularly edit invoices from specifics suppliers to correct pennies in the VAT boxes to ensure these match. Using up valuable and unnecessary time.

We use another software with another company that gets this spot on every time, but considering we pay for Xero we felt it would be helpful to get the VAT extraction down to 100% accuracy.

  14. Inventory - We are considering switching to Xero from Sage50, but have come across the issue of not being able to add an inventory item's "Bin Location" to the packing slip. We could include the bin location in the description of the item, but we don't want this to appear on the customer invoice. We only want the item's location to appear on the Packing Slip for the warehouse operatives to locate the items easily.

  15. Repeating Invoices - ability to copy existing repeating invoice.

    Reasons:
    - Temporary Discount rewards (Scenario 1 below)
    - Previously agreed future price changes
    - Similar fee package for another client on a recurring basis

    Scenario 1
    - Client signs an ongoing recurring contract Monthly Fee = $1,000 (for illustration purposes):
    - Client sends us a referral, so we discount their fee 10% for the next 4 months (update current recurring amount to $900)
    - After 4 months client's fee will return to the previously agreed amount (create brand new recurring invoice, keying all the same information in, but removing the…

  16. It shouldn't be so difficult to assign expenses to customers or projects, an expense or spend money item shouldn't need to be edited to add it to a customer or project.
Simplifying this process could be as simple as an extra column that can be enabled on the Account Transactions view and if a transaction isn't assigned to a project or expense then it can be simply clicked in the column and the customer or project selected.
Additionally Bank Rules should be able to include the option to assigned to customers or projects, if we have a client that charges…

  17. Please provide bills allocation to purchase order option. converting purchase order to bills is not that useful as we received multiple invoice from different suppliers. sometime some supplier send us wrong invoice and without P.O allocations to bills we were unable to catch that kind of mistakes. which result in wrong payment.

    benefits of that option:

it will be easy to see if trade/supplier invoiced more than our purchase order (agreed price). as right now there is no way we can see that information in xero.

    implementations way could be:

Purchase order should be zero after allocating bill to it…

  18. Please change the Type of the Invoice Reference field on New Invoicing to Allow for extended text formatting capabilities. Make it the same data type as the Summary Field on Quotes or the Description Field on Invoice Line items. So that the invoice reference field allows and saves Carriage Returns and Tab characters.

Hi team, we pleased to share that we've released some more features, enabling more users to pay suppliers without logging into your bank!

For our UK customers we've made paying overseas suppliers easier with international bill payments.

Using open banking, you can now securely send money to 180+ countries including Europe (EUR), America (USD) and Australia (AUD). So you don't have to juggle multiple platforms or hidden fees. Whether you're paying a single bill or multiple bills at once, authorise payments prepared by your team and easily track which suppliers have been paid.

We've also just launched bill payments in Xero for customers in the US, powered by BILL.

You can make simple, secure payments directly from Xero. You'll be able to authorize payments prepared by your team, and easily track which vendors have been paid. Plus, gain access to millions of vendors over the BILLTM network, and…
