    Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.

    Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:

    • what’s available in new invoicing right now,
    • timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
    • a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.

    We'll be updating this page regularly.


    Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

  2. I do not like new invoicing, so I want to KEEP to original invoicing for as long as I possibly can Until End of Feb, without having to manually scroll down to the bottom of the page everytime I log in and manually select original invoicing every time.

    Hi everyone, while we appreciate your feedback here. With the retirement of classic invoicing in February, and to help customers get used to the new invoicing experience this default will continue to apply.

    As we continue to improve the new experience this means customers may find updates that help their workflow and adopt the new experience.

    The option to switch back to classic will be available and we understand this is the experience some customers may choose to use up until the retirement date.

  3. Remove 'Powered by Xero' Advertisement on the footer invoice emails (only recently added)

    Hi everyone, appreciate this topic has picked up momentum in the last couple of months since “Powered by Xero” was first introduced to our invoice emails.
    Our product team have been working through the next iteration of the invoice email. They’ve reviewed feedback about this email from multiple sources and are planning some changes to address some of the concerns, in particular that the purpose of this feature is for marketing and advertising purposes. This feature was developed, designed and implemented will the sole intention of increasing trust with the invoice emails we generate inside the Xero platform. The data after delivering this has shown that it does just that, increasing engagement with your invoice emails and ultimately getting you, our customers, paid faster.
    Therefore the “Powered by Xero” footer will remain in place, however we will be reducing its size, better integrating it into a redesigned email experience…

    * Saving as draft!
    * New Due Date drop-down selections (e.g. 14 days)

    What I do not like:
    * No "add another invoice" option after save + print PDF, more clicks now
    * When save + print PDF, now opens a new tab that needs closed, more clicks
    * Cannot "copy" the invoice line "item" - I usually create many lines that I used to be able to copy & paste the "item", now more clicks
    * Too much whitespace and font too large, I want to be able to see the data w/o…

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on new invoicing. We’re listening carefully to all feedback to make sure new invoicing has the functionality you need, as we prepare for retirement of the classic version.
    We recognise that some things will be different, so we encourage you to spend some time familiarising yourself with the new version.   5. After years of using Xero and the majority of our invoices each month being repeat ones, I am increasingly frustrated with the lack of the most basic features for repeating invoices.

    Combined, there are thousands of upvotes for the most basic features, most of which have been submitted years ago. And seem to go totally ignored by the Xero team.

    I've listed just a few of these incredibly basic features below:

    • Reporting - Report that shows Repeating Invoices
    • Repeating invoices: Ability to copy them to create new ones
    • Repeating Invoices - Generate invoice before invoice date
    • Repeating Invoices - Day/Date…

    Sorry to hear your frustration here, Bee. I want to assure you that our product teams pay close attention to the ideas shared by our customers in product ideas here and regularly review to incorporate customer driven changes into our development.

    In order for others in community to understand what they're adding their vote for and so we can communicate clearly on changes it is best that each idea is kept separate, and I will move your post here to Not Planned.

    It's good to hear you've found one's you're interested in, and if there are any planned changes for these we will share a public status update to share news with everyone following that idea.

  6. I've always felt like your software was created by people who have never used the software themselves because some of the pathways and defaults just don't make sense. Note: I access Xero using the Chrome browser.
    Here are some changes that could be made that would really improve the user experience with Xero:

    1. When I'm entering bills, some date fields want me to enter the date like this: date/month/year and other times it wants me to enter it like this: month/date/year.  It's very frustrating having to switch back and forth randomly.

    Hi Jenna, we appreciate your feedback and the detail you've given is great. However, it's best that strange behaviour or performance issues are shared with our specialists at Xero Support who have tools to be able to investigate and escalated with our team if something isn't working as it should.

    There are a couple of your points I wanted to confirm here;

    • Bills to pay - you are able to set a default page for this. It sounds like it may currently be set to Paid bills in your org. You can set the default by clicking the 3 dots in the top right of the page where you'll see 'Default bill page' to select your preference
    • Default for bills due date - From the same place you can go to for invoice (Invoice settings) you can set a default Due date for your bills.

  7. New Invoicing - bring back the 'save and continue adding' button in drafts, a feature classic invoicing offered. When completing invoices with multiple lines it is imperative that it you can save during input without having to save and close. Especially now that the new invoicing is unreliable.

    Hi Meradene, as new invoicing also encompasses auto save there is no need to manually save your invoice. Once you've added a Contact, as you move between fields of your invoice Xero will continuously save any data you've entered.

    It sounds like you may be having trouble with this though and if you're finding you're loosing information you've entered I'd really encourage reaching out to our specialists at Xero Support who can take a closer look to investigate what's going on for you.

  8. The Classic Invoicing allows .eml (downloaded emails) to drag and drop into invoices from downloads. The new invoicing DOES NOT allow this. Please reinstate this function to the new invoicing as it is an essential part of loading invoices (uploading (drag & drop) downloaded emails providing instructions and authorization evidence for auditors). Kelly, please confirm that this function will be continued in the new invoicing. Thank you.

    Appreciate you highlighting this, Gemma - Understand what you mean with the .eml file upload within new invoicing.

    I see you recently connected with our specialists at Xero Support on this who directed you here, however this would be best for us to investigate deeper with you. I've re-opened your case and our team will be in touch directly soon so we can get more insight into this one.

  9. I have Integrated the Zoho Analytics with Xero through the Import Service in Zoho Analytics. But I am unable to fetch the Xero project module data, rest other modules data I received in Zoho Analytics.
    Please let me know how i can get the projects module data also. So I can create reports over Xero project module in Zoho Analytics , and can include this report in the dashboard which I have created in Zoho Analytics.

    Hi Stefano, we have an API ideas forum where these sort of integration requests are best suited. I'd recommend starting an idea for this across there where we have experts and a community that have the knowledge to review and keep you updated of any changes for this, there.

    Hi team, this is unexpected behaviour and something we'd need to take a closer look into. If not already I'd recommend raising a case with our team at Xero Support where our specialists can get more detail and access to your org to investigate. 

    While we'll move the idea here to Not planned this is something we'd like to help you with so please do come into our Xero Support team, who can escalate if required. 

  12. When we receive an email from Approval Max stating that someone has rejected a bill, it has a link to the bill in Xero. When you open the link, there's no way to edit/amend the invoice from this screen.

    Please add an edit button.

    Currently, from this screen, to edit the invoice, we need to go to:
    Bills To Pay > Drafts > search for the invoice > then edit it

    Too many additional steps to edit the invoice, it should be easy from that first link.

    Hi Kelly, thanks for the screenshots. Seeing as this email is sent by ApprovalMax we'd recommend connecting with their support to see if this is something they can change or would consider extending their integration for. Many of our app partners designed and built their integrations with Xero themselves and are best placed to confirm how this works and make changes to it.

  13. Please enable Hotmail to be delivered to inboxes not their spam accounts when sending invoices

    Hi Aaron, spam filters are determined and set by your email provider. We recommend sharing this article with any of your hotmail recipients that are finding that their invoices are being directed to spam folders. They will be able to update their email settings to add @xero.com and @post.xero.com to their email safe senders list to ensure these get through.

  14. It would be great if we could add ageing on client/customer statements. (Current, 30, 60, 90 days) Many clients have requested that the ageing be displayed on their statements. Current, overdue and total isn't detailed enough..

    Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.

    There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.

    Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.

    • Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
    • If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
    • Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero

  15. New invoicing version makes me tick 'Include files as attachments' for every invoice I send off, whereas the old invoicing remembered my defaults. I prefer the old way where my preferences were saved.

    New invoicing also cannot preview attachments, it always has to open a new tab to view an attachment. Old invoicing I could preview an attachment on a pop up within the same browser tab. I prefer just viewing the attachment quick within the same screen, I personally don't like having another tab that needs closing.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing developed. All your feedback here is being shared with the team as they continue to iterate and develop this new experience. 

    That said, in order for us to get a better understanding of interest for the different points raised here it's best for us to track and update any progress on these each separately. We appear to have ideas for each of the points mentioned in the thread here and I've linked these below so you can join and follow any updates for each. 

  16. In XPM you can create a time entry for a Job you are not assigned to. However this is not possible if we are making the time entry through the API.

    The API should offer that possibility as it is the same as in the brows.er

  17. Why are the attach file buttons in the opposite order in New Invoice from the likes of Bills and everything else?

    Thanks for also sharing screenshots, Moyra. Appreciate wanting consistency in actions across Xero like this. New invoicing is built on updated technology, bills and other pages you see across Xero with the image in your first screenshot are yet to under go this update, however as we get to them they will adopt the same similar components and layouts that you see in new invoicing today. So while I'll move your idea here to not planned as we will not be updating the buttons in new invoicing, you can expect to see this same layout in other places across Xero overtime. 

  18. I would love to see an integration with Zendesk to track time spent on tickets to be invoiced in Xero. I know this can by done with WorkflowMax but I don't want yet another app to deal with, it would be great to have this directly in Xero.

  19. In original invoicing the Chrome CopyTables extension worked to copy the data from the invoice into Excel for creating pivot tables; that feature doesn't work in new invoicing. We work with multiple vendors on a single project and it's significantly easier to place those orders by copying the tables from Xero into Excel and creating a pivot table. If the base code can't be adjusted to work with extensions like that than being able to export an invoice as a CSV would be helpful.

    Hi Jonathan, appreciate the feedback however this is something you'd need to contact Chrome about in relation to how their extension works and if any change can be made to apply to Xero's new invoicing 

  20. When editing a bill, say the item column it removes the data that is on that line. Can this be avoided?

    Hi Robert, coming back across your idea here I want to be open that we don't have any plans for this. The Item field is driven by your inventory products and services, which is why it auto description and other fields with the contents saved for that item. If you have pre-filled the description column and need to change the item we'd recommend copying this so once you update the items you can paste your text back in the description column.
