  5. It appears that in the last two weeks (submitted 23/2/2022) Xero rolled out a change to payroll, which possibly has some unforeseen implications.

It used to be that if you were only paying a small number of employees at one time, you could use the summary screen (capture attached) to copy and paste the net pay figure for each employee to your online banking portal to effect the actual payment(rather than exporting to a file, and then importing the file to the online banking which is a little clunky for small number of employees - there doesn't exist the…

Sounds like you're wanting to copy the employees net pay from the pay run overview screen, but it's taking you into their payslip, Tom?

Instead you could download the payslips report by opening the required pay run, clicking 'View Reports'and selecting Payslips - This'll download a PDF with all the employees payslips included. From this, you can copy and paste each employee's net pays into your online banking. 🙂

  6. would be great to be able to filter current employees when looking at Leave Transaction Report. We have many hundred old employees and have to scroll through all of them to get the individual employee.. also no search function to be able to find the employee easily

Heya team, thanks for sharing back on how we could improve Xero for you.

As part of our upgrading Payroll reports with the new version of the Leave Transactions report for both Australian and New Zealand versions of Xero, you can now Search by Employee. So, you'll be able to quickly jump to an employee of interest!😊

  7. In service industries like hospitality salaried employees will work a different set of shifts each week across 7 days. Currently I have to set up a working pattern and if they phone in sick on a Saturday for example if that day isnt set as their working day (i.e we set them up as Mon-Fri for ease) we have to record the sick day on the Monday to ensure it is deducted. But in these industries the working days are different each week and they dont work on a set pattern. Need the ability to set that the employee works…

Hey Samantha, thanks for raising this idea with us. We appreciate how being able to eventually delete employees after their employment ended would improve your experience with Xero Payroll.

We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members.

  9. Tried to amend the national insurance category to a v category for 6 weeks after the employees start date, as that is when they were valid from, to find the calendar will only allow me to amend to a date previous or on their start date with the company. Has anyone else encountered this issue at all?

Hi Laura, it looks like you also raised a support case about this which has since been resolved.

To recap, when you add a V category, you'll have the option to enter a date in which the category starts from. Then you would need to enter the date in which the employee was first employed as a civilian.

For example, V category is valid from 31 Jan, therefore you can only enter the employment civilian date up until 31 Jan. You won't be able to enter an employment date after the NI category date.

  10. "Days paid" on timesheet defaults to number of days loaded in "Salary & Wages".
It needs to be overridden to actual days worked for the week when a timesheet is approved. Many staff work more or less days than the average and changing each one manually is incredibly cumbersome and has a huge margin for error

  11. Can you please consider adding an option under Employee> Leave to sort by employee first name. You already had an option to sort by surname however it would be great to also be able to sort by first name. Thanks

Thanks for raising this idea about the setup of Salary Sacrifice in NZ Payroll.

We can certainly see how having both the salary sacrifice and employer contribution fields available for input at the same time could be confusing and potentially lead to errors. Your feedback on making the process and its rules clearer is valuable.

We're grateful for your engagement and letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how improving the workflow for salary sacrifice could improve their experience with Xero.

  13. My team member complained about the privacy of Xero me Overview page.

The page lists the payslip information on default. It is considered a risk of privacy exposure when people open Xero Me in the office area.

Maybe it would be good to add a funtion in Xero Me overview page to Hide the payslip information.

  14. We have a 2 year old issue where we changed an employee end date then reverted a payrun. HMRC has not recognised the revertion or that the resubmission is the same data so we have a duplicate that we haven't been able to sort out.
To avoid this pain for others, could there be a pop-up warning if someone tries to revert (or otherwise change) a payrun where an included employee has an end date set? Or if the end date has been changed? The details of how it works can be as is easiest to implement.
    See case CX0012556638…

  16. It would be helpful to have a "Skip" timesheet option for part-time staff to indicate that it's a non-work day (rather than assuming they've just forgotten to complete their timesheet). E.g. a checkbox above each day on the weekly timesheet that if checked would grey-out the relevant day. Rough example attached.

Hi Chris, thanks for your idea here. Understand you may have completed the process yourself by now, but incase you have other orgs you're looking to set up and for others that may be looking for the same - We've released new Switching Wizard in Payroll for the UK.

This'll make it easier to transition from your current payroll provider to Xero Payroll, reducing errors and saving you time.

As part of the experience, you'll be able to import a Full Payment Summary(FPS) from your current software provider to Xero Payroll. You can get more understanding of how this works on our website and through our short video.

  19. As a small business it is hard when employees take time off when sick especially with 10 days now. We have an incentive in our contract to either roll these over or cash them up however this is not available through Xero.

Appreciate you sharing detail and why you'd like a cash up option with us here. Being open, as this is more specific to your business(not regulatory) we don't have plans for adding a cash up option within NZ Payroll.

However, there are currently two ways you could achieve this within Xero Payroll today

    1. Leave the Sick Leave maximum to accrue value as nil this will allow an indefinite roll over of sick leave
    2. If you're wanting to cash up then enter a sick leave request for a single day and enter the total value of a week to cash up with a description of cash up

We hope this can meet the needs you're after in recording cash up for sick leave. Thanks

  20. Have tax rates added to Pay Items and or a way to add employee tax rate to unscheduled pay runs so you don't have to edit tax rate when processing.

This will ensure correct tax rate is applied to all employees every time a pay is processed, whether is a normal pay run and or unscheduled pay (bonus etc)
