  2. Please allow payments to be made to an employee after they have left and their P45 has been generated. Sage, for example, allows you to include past employees in a pay run and tick a 'payment after leaving' box which gives the correct 0T tax code and produces the correct FPS submission for HMRC. This is a very basic part of payroll that needs to be included in this system, the option to create a new employee file in order to pay them is not complying with HMRC and is not an acceptable alternative.

  3. Allow us to turn off the pop up that shows when posting a pay run. I don't need reminders to pay the employees and file the pay run especially when I do payroll for 20+clients.

  5. Currently, for monthly employees, Xero does not take into consideration the fact that they have been set up to be paid the same amount each month, therefore the days in the month are meaningless from a pay perspective. Unfortunately, this means that the basis leave accrues on to work out how many hours a public holiday/personal/annual leave day should be when leave is entered is also meaningless. Instead of defaulting to 7.6 (or 8) hours/day leave taken, it does a calculation based on the number of working days in a month. So if someone is being paid on the basis…

  6. Currently you can only view the official submission receipts and their associated IRmark via an XML file. It would be nice to see this in a more user friendly manner and without all the associated coding tags and data.

  7. An automatic monthly payroll tax report would be fantastic. I've noticed Xero cannot do an automatic calculation of Payroll Tax like MYOB can. MYOB allows you to select pay categories (pay items) to exclude and run a monthly payroll tax report.

    Hi community 👋

    Thanks for sharing and supporting this idea - while I don't have an update specific to this one, I thought you might be interested in the following:

    Our AU Payroll team are testing some changes to Payroll reconciliation. The idea to have an automatic monthly payroll tax report is highly associated with payroll reconciliation and we feel that voters here would also have an interest in payroll reconciliation. They would love to hear from you!

    They’re aiming to conduct some 1 on 1 interviews between 6 Feb - 16 Feb 2024, the interviews will last 45 minutes.

    The purpose of the session: Participants will be asked to help with testing a prototype concept designed to enhance the AU payroll reconciliation process.

    They aim to discover:

    • Whether this conceptual solution meets your specific Payroll needs, and if it adds value to your Payroll reconciliation process?
    • Whether this conceptual…
  8. Ability to restrict which pay items an employee can view in Xero Me to only those that apply to that employee. Without this ability employees sometimes choose pay items that do not apply to them. Most often this is picked up at the authorisation stage but why allow the possibility for error in the first place.

  10. Work and Income deduction as a reducing balance under statutory deduction. Work and Income have provided a total amount and a weekly amount to be paid there needs to be a function added to provide the reducing balance, this function is available in other statutory deductions.

  11. Be able to change an employee/director to be excluded from the pension at any time.
    At the moment, if a director is not excluded from the pension scheme straight the way, the payroll has to be rolled back to when the director was assessed. This is fine for small payrolls but would be very timely on the larger payrolls.

  12. Could the user have access to the calendar in payroll to allow them to manually input other dates that are important but not automatically fed into the calendar and also set up reminder alerts?

    Sage allowed you to this which was really useful if you had to remove/add a benefit on a certain date.

  13. There is an issue in payroll where you will get a rounding error due to other pay items such as Leave/Holiday.

    e.g. Salary £12,570 per year
    Paid in May the calculations are as follows:
    1685.692935=£956.41308 Rounded: £956.41
    8
    5.692935=£45.54348 Rounded: £45.54
    8*5.692935=£45.54348 Rounded: £45.54

    Total = £1047.50084 Rounded Total: £1047.49 instead of £1047.50

    This should be corrected somehow to use the correct number before rounding as the final calculation. The rounding can either be ignored from the line items, added to the first line item (the total pay) or added as a new line item specifically for the rounding…

  15. We have annually paid employees who's pay is calculated hourly within Xero. However, on the payslip, the adjusted hours under salary don't show and neither do the rates. They are in the system as that is how all the calculations are made, but for the employees there is not the clarity. Can these rates not be pulled through?

  16. Add in timesheet hours in addition to 'Regular' hours. We have a number of employees with regular hours but the often have extra hours or shifts from our shift program (Deputy). When importing timesheets from Deputy into Xero the extra shifts override the regular hours which results in having to manually add an extra line for the regular hours. The system already allows to have to two lines for 'Ordinary Hours'.

  17. We have several earnings rates Eg. Normal Time, Saturday, Sunday, etc and for each earnings type, there are several rates. We have these set up in Xero and they display in Alphabetical order under 'Pay Items'.

    However, when staff are completing their timesheets in Xero Me, all of the earnings rates are out of order (in fact they are in no particular order!) which makes it very hard for employees to complete their timesheets correctly. We have over 45 staff and approximately 30 earnings rates, therefore having them in random order in Xero Me causes many timesheet errors.

    I am…

  18. Add a box to payroll for an employee's preferred name, for those who don't use their legal name as their everyday contact, it doesn't need to link to ATO, so no major coding, just be there for reference when contacting the employee. I have several clients with staff that use their middle name or a different version of their first name, that they prefer when being addressed, and it being there in payroll would simplify things.

  19. It would be great if we could code annual leave to another account code other than salary and wages. Currently we manually journal these costs to another account in the ledger to separate them. This helps with reporting wages like for like.
    Thanks :-)

  20. When you invite an employee to xero me for the purpose of submitting their timesheet, there is a drop down menu for the payrate. In this drop down, it shows 'Self' payrate (the payrate of the person submitting the time sheet) and also 'Team' payrate, a list of all the different payrates of the company. Why would you want an employee to be able to see the different payrates of the team?

    This seems like a flaw in the system to me and an employee should only be able to see the payrate that applies to them.
