Find and Recode - Search by Date Last Edited
Find and recode should be able to search a date range by who has recently edited transactions within that date range (I.e User 1 edited 3 transactions between 1/7/22 - 30/6/23 on the following dates).
I work on a file where several people attend to different parts of the bookkeeping process, so being able to see who has edited what transactions within a certain date range would be hugely helpful.

NZ Payroll - Process timesheets for future periods
Allow a timesheet to be created for the week ahead of the pay week. This allows employees with standard hours to enter their hours in advance. It also allows managers to run payrolls in advance if circumstances need it

Report - Contacts not used within a time period e.g 12 months
A report to run to identify suppliers and customers that have not used in the last 12 months, so we can archive some contacts.
12 votesNot a capture all but maybe a step in the right direction for now that could help, Maureen - Smart Lists could help you get a view of the customers that you've not sold items to recently.
You could run a New Smart List to view Any customers who have Not Purchased Any items In the last year - Find out more on Smart lists here.

Quotes - View Inventory Item Cost
See Inventory Item Cost when doing a Quote. I would find it helpful, when doing a quote to a customer, to see the cost of the inventory item I am quoting on. Of course, it should not appear in the final quote going to the client, but seeing it, would give me more confidence in doing my quote and make it a lot quicker. Thanks
15 votesHi Mark, as cost price of items can change over time, if you often associate specific items you're selling to sales you make to your customers perhaps Billable expenses?
When you add the expenses to your customers invoice this will bring across the cost price of the items you've assigned.

Reporting - Tick box to hide account codes when publishing
There is no functionality in Xero to 'Hide account codes on all pages' as we have "Hide decimals on all pages'.
Can we have this functionality - at present we need to check each page before publishing to ensure that there are no account codes showing.

Expense Claims - More functionality
Xero expenses has been with us for 5 years. There have been no significant feature upgrades despite us all paying extra for the privilege.
Basic functionality like searchability, proper alignment with bill functionality to search suppliers and see total engagement with suppliers, ability to include attachments (e.g. bill documents from expenses) to pass through to customer invoices, ability to add a markup to expenses (e.g. for common cost plus models) etc. - NONE, not a little, nothing, zilch, nada of this has been actioned by Xero and nobody seems to be available or interested in discussing it. There are so many threads in this forum on the these subjects, but nothing seems to ever be done.
Surely it is time Xero devoted some resources to this if you are going to charge us for the privilege of a system that barely is at Minimum Viable Product - you would never buy it if it was a standalone system.Xero expenses has been with us for 5 years. Xero expenses - Ability to export submitted expenses
Currently expense reports are not fit for purpose. You can't even order non-approved expenses by date or export them.
You need to be able to order unapproved expenses by date and by project/customer.
You need to be able to add description and project/customer information into the expense claims report.
Xero is **** at expense management frankly and with a few minor changes could be so much better. I should get a refund on my subscription for the wasted time.
14 votesSorry to hear your're not satisfied with Xero Expenses, Jeremy. Appreciate there are a few things that you've noted that you feel could enhance your experience when using expenses.
We do try to keep one idea per thread to make it simple for community to understand what they're adding their support and to help share this back with our product teams. I've adjusted the title of your idea here to reflect exporting expenses. We have an idea for changing the sort order here, and you're welcome to start new ideas for any other points you've shared too.

Invoices - Show total qty column
- I need to be able to get a total on all the quantities on an invoice. If there are say 5 entries I would like to be able to get a total of all the quantities entered .
- One is able to move a line in an invoice from one place to another. But I would like to be able to move more than one entry around at once. So if I am able to select 2 or more entries and move them to another place in the invoice it would be great.

Manual journals - Export in a format that can be reimported inc. GST
Currently, I can export manual journals from a Xero organization for record saving. However, I cannot use the exported manual journals in Excel format to be imported to another organization directly. Because the exported manual journals show the GST amount in a separate line (GST account). Can you please add a new function to export manual journals for Xero importation? It means I can directly import the exported manual journals from one organization to another without editing.

Reporting - Expenses by contact report option to filter i.e supplier addresses/location/postal code
Broken down to location/ postal code with the total cost for a contact/supplier in any period is needed.
I am aware 'the expenses by contact' gives you the total spend in a year but this doesn't filter down to location/ addresses or post code. At year end a key part of our process is reporting local suppliers for our social impact and purpose, we have to complete a time consuming exercise entering addresses/location manually line by line for key suppliers in excel. This information is reported to our Board of Directors, to our Group Board and as part of our Social impact reporting annually.Broken down to location/ postal code with the total cost for a contact/supplier in any period is needed.

Short term cashflow - Option to include payroll
Very simply, short term cashflow does not include a range of items the biggest and most important of which is payroll. I think if you are selling this feature you should be very wary of the need for a disclaimer if the feature fails to be accurate, and decisions could be made on false information if for example the biggest expense item being wages is not included.
Granted it should be something people take great care when making financial decisions and should note the issue, many don't have great financial literacy which is part of why xero was created in the first place, I just see this as a deal breaker in terms of actually using the feature at all. It needs to actually work.

17 votesThanks for your feedback here, everyone. To confirm, if you're using Xero Analytics Plus the dashboard can predict payroll expenses if they’re reconciled as spend money transactions or bills, and are regular in amount and frequency. To manually include payroll expenses, add them as upcoming money out transactions.
We don't have any planned changes for how these type of transactions are represented in Short term cashflows in the near term. If there are any updates made we'll share this with you here.

Xero Me - Timesheet automatically calculate overtime
It's great that Xero Me now allow employees to add their own start, finish and break times but all hours appear as ordinary hours. Xero should have a warning prompt flagging this as it's easy to miss overtime hours and pay them as the default ordinary hours, which then needs an unscheduled pay run to correct the underpayments (assuming you work this out for yourself!). Public holidays should also be flagged so we can adjust pay rates (if needed) for these days.

Multicurrency - Stop showing archived Tracking data in reports
Please can you add the ability to stop archived tracking codes appearing on P&L reports just because they had a foreign currency item at some point.
- Archived tracking codes, with no data in current FY or reporting period appear because years and years ago it had foreign currency trans.
- The currency L or G are not relevant to the current reporting period. The FY is closed, in some cases years and years ago - there is no need for it to keep appearing. Please stop this happening.
With the new 200 tracking code reports now released this problem with the currency not having a hard close is a big problem.

Quotes - Attach PO to approved quote
PO to approved quote. My customers want to add their PO number and possibly an attachment upload to an approved quote when they select approve on the link. This should be very simple to fix. Also, then this would give us more capabilities in the approval process by allowing documentation to be added to the quote directly from the customer. This way it will tell me when I invoice them what PO was on the order. Also, they were asking for a place to put notes as well. They have notes on a reject but not approve.

Account Transactions - Show details on batch payments in Description column
The bank transaction listing in Xero should have different details displayed for ease of reference.
Batch Payment really doesn't provide enough information. "Payment: multiple items Batch Payment" is pretty vague. It would be better if the Description column showed the Details from the batch payment - refer attached4 votes -
UK Payroll - Pay employees directly via Open Banking
With the advent of Open Banking, it would be great if when you submit the payroll, it could also utilise OB to physically make the payment to the employee also. This would help automate the whole payroll process.
16 votesThanks for supporting this idea, everyone. We appreciate the efficiency being able to directly pay your employees from Xero would bring to your workflow and the time it'd give back. 😊
Our product team are now in testing of new functionality to allow direct wage payments within UK Payroll via open banking with Crezco. I'll be back to share more as this progresses.

Find & Recode - Ability to bulk update exchange rate of multiple transactions
Batch change exchange rate
Currently, once a receipt has been entered the only way to change the exchange rate is to go into each individual transaction and edit transaction->change the exchange rate. I have a situation where i have hundreds of transactions that have been allocated the XE.com rate, but i would like those transaction to have the user defined rate. Also in receipts entered using the iOS app will use the XE.com rate even if there is a user defined rate set in settings.
I would like a feature like "find and recode" so i can filter for all transaction in a date range using XE.com rate and replace it with the user defined rate. Those exact options are available in a drop down box within each transaction... can this be done?Batch change exchange rate

Cash coding - Add Item tab to cash coding
I am unable to go through cash coding as I am often required to apply a transaction to a pre set item, as some clients like more of a break down of what a transaction relates to. It would be good if you had an Item tab on cash coding so you can apply those transactions to an item all at once instead of opening each individual transaction up and entering an item.
