CIS - File for overpayments allocated to a CIS invoice
Yes that's right. Let's say you pay a subby £150 in advance and allocate that as an overpayment on their account from the bank feed. You then get an invoice from them a couple of weeks later for £500 and deduct CIS of £100 leaving £400 outstanding. You allocate the overpayment from the account of £150 and pay your subby the balance of £250. The system will only declare CIS on the £250 element of what you have paid. You have to know an overpayment has been allocated, reverse it and allocate the payment directly to the invoice for it to be able to declare the CIS correctly. Xero say this is not a problem and it is working as designed. Why on earth you'd design it that was is beyond me. I'd like to see the CIS paid across when the overpayment is allocated.

It would be great if you could view the contact name and primary person when searching contacts, not just the contact name.

AU Payroll - Tracking/Department Coding for reports
Payroll Department Coding - to be able to put a department code on all payroll categories and report to show employee name/gross wages/department coding assigned to payroll. The only way in Xero at the moment is through timesheets but this does not allow for all payroll categories to have a department code allocated. And when producing a timesheet report it does not show the $ gross wages for each employee only the hours. Need to include coding on allowances, leave and super.

Inventory - Show items without movement in Inventory Item Details report
The Inventory Item Details report does not show inventory items where there was no movement during the month. Therefore the report does not tie out to the balance per the TB for inventory. Can this be fixed?
8 votesHey Louis - thanks for sharing your suggestion!
Understand that it's not quite what you're after, but it's worth a mention: The 'Inventory Item Summary' report will show all inventory items in your organisation, including those without any movement in the selected period.
I've attached a screenshot as an example, so you can check if it suits your reporting needs - we'll leave this idea up in the meantime 😊

Contacts - Seperate customer mailing lists
Ability to select different mailing lists for 1 customer. This will be useful when you have different projects for the same supplier.
5 votesHi Amna, could you explain your idea a little more? Would this be to send bulk comms to multiple contacts from Xero, or something like being able to set different persons on a contacts record to receive different types of transactions or communications?

Inventory - First-In-First-Out (FIFO) option in Tracked Inventory
Offer First-In-First-Out (FIFO) accounting within Tracked Inventory as an option.
Purpose: Established US Companies tend to use FIFO for inventory valuation, so Xero would widen its scope of clients by offering the option. Plus, the option adoption would make reporting of its current US clients so much more straightforward.

AU Payroll - Allow a Backpay category for Leave categories
Now with STP2, we need to disaggregate backpay across the various ATO Payroll categories but it is not possible to setup a backpay category for any leave categories, please create default categories or allow allocation to the ATO leave categories in pay items. Without it, it is impractical to be STP2 compliant.

GST | Increase backdating of GST returns
Why are we limited to backdating GST Returns in Blue Xero just 12 months.
It's crazy to limit the backdating of GST Returns to 12 months for Advisors. In an ideal world our clients are well behaved and we only need to deal with recent GST Returns. But we often get situations where we need to backdate GST Returns beyond 12 months: ie A client comes to us who has been trading for 2 or more years and not filed any Tax or GST returns - how do we deal with that? Or if we are doing a migration from another platform (MYOB/Quicken) and want historical data. It is more common than you would think (as is the case with this client).
The suggested workaround by Xero Support is to use the Account Transactions Report. However, It is dangerous relying on the Account Transactions Report for GST Return calculations. Specific accounts such as bank accounts and the GST account need to be omitted or double-up's happen. Also, the way this report handles GST on balance sheet transactions such as fixed asset sales and purchases where debit/credit polarity is reversed means if you are not observant - GST payments can be turned into refunds in the report.
We also cant export GST data to GST Returns in Xero Tax if we don't have a finalised GST Return.
A GST report is a far safer option. I cannot think of any reason from a user's perspective why there should be 12-month limit - so I can only imagine Xero wants to limit it for some reason - not a good thing to do!

Quotes: Include Stripe PayNow button on quotes
With PayNow, we want the customer to use our stripe and pay on the quote. The idea behind this is that customer pays and then we send the product and issue the invoice. If we issue the invoice and then customer changes mind and doesn't pay, it will be a problem and we need to delete the invoice. So, adding Pay Now to the quote will solve this problem.

Xero Files - Ability to rename and/or delete file while viewing in inbox
In the files inbox, when I want to rename or delete a file, I cannot do so while looking at the contents of the file. I must close the file and try to find it amongst the dozen or so files sent by a dozen different people, and then rename or delete it. I would like to be able to rename the file while I have it open.
Similarly, I would like to delete files from the inbox while looking at them - I get a LOT of forwarded email threads, and every logo in every footer shows up as a separate file in the inbox, so I would like to be able to delete them while looking at them, so that I don't accidentally delete the images with exactly the same filenames that were sent in the body of the forwarded email.

UK Payroll - Support for HSBC BACS payment files without a service user name
Add a template another file option for payroll. HSBCnet allows file uploads with a SUN however as Xero does not have this template it means only options is to apply for a SUN and increase costs of paying our payroll. We need a file that accommodates ACH CR BACs (non-SUN) files. Requirement is Xero payroll ERP configure the file without a SUN then please ask them to do so, as it should be identical to the one we have tested for supplier payments, meaning the word ‘HSBC’ should be quoted on the VOL1 line and the areas where the SUN is present currently would be blank space filled.

AU Payroll - Multiple company addresses for payslips
We have multiple sites within our payroll company. Each site is in a different physical location. We have set each location up as a "Group" Each employee is set to a group. This way, we can sort and report on each location within our payroll entity.
However, we need the payslip to show the address of the location, rather than the address which is showing in the organisation settings. I understand that we can set up a different physical address, but is it possible to have a separate address for each group or location within this organisation?
We need this to show on the payslip especially for our foreign workers who are working on a visa.
Presently we are using the NOTE option which shows at the bottom of the payslip, but this is not ideal as we have to add the note at each payroll run.We have multiple sites within our payroll company. Bank Feeds - Add a transaction code and use on the account transaction
Transactions imported by Yodlee Bank Feed do not display in the chronological order that they occur in my online banking portal or bank statements.
As I have a lot of bank transactions on any given day, this makes it time consuming to do any kind of reconciliation between by online bank account and my bank feed import as I have to match each transaction up in the different orders they appear.
This is a regular occurrence as Yodlee sometimes imports transactions part way through a day and I have to work out where I got up to processing these transactions through my external CRM accounts receivable system, which I need to use instead of Xero accounts receivable.
If Yodlee allowed you to designate the transaction order in your bank feed eg. top of the bank feed is the newest transaction chronologically, Xero could create a system generated transaction reference number which matched the order in which the transactions came into Xero.
This transaction reference number could also be pushed through into GL transactions created from the bank feed.
The transaction reference would allow me to easily sort my Accounting transaction report and work out where I had finished processing my transactions.

New Account Transaction report - Show closing balance on first page
Please restore the display of the closing balance on the first page of this report.
The report is used each month to check control accounts which may go to many pages.
The closing balance used to show on the first page which was extremely helpful not you have to scroll to the bottom (and you have removed the option for less transactions to show) and then we have to scroll through to the last page in order to see the balance.
Please bring back the functionality of the old report before you stop access to it-

Invoices: Resend failed e-invoices as an e-invoice
Invoices cannot be sent multiple times by e-invoicing - any invoice that was sent by e-invoicing can only be sent again after that by email. This is fine; that ensures that my customers don't have a billion copies of the same invoice in their drafts.
However, this is also true of invoices where sending by e-invoicing failed and the customer has not received the invoice at all.
I would like the ability to send by e-invoice to reset when the original attempt fails, because the only workaround I've found involves deleting and recreating the invoice with a new invoice number and that's a pain on days like today, when every single e-invoice I've tried to send has failed.
