Invoices and Bills - Lock once finalised
Locking Invoices and Bills so they cannot be deleted once Finalised.
We often see clients raise invoices, or bills in their Xero file, and then later delete them if a change is required, and then raise another invoice or bill.
From an accounting perspective, this is a huge sin.
Once an invoice or bill has been finalised, the only way it should be altered is by raising either a debit or credit note against it. Xero allows a user to raise debit or credit notes, but the average non-accountant does not understand what these are, so they do the easiest thing and simply delete, and start again. It would be a lot better if once an invoice or bill has been finialsed, it was locked so could not be deleted from the system.

Short cut for payment date to be equal to transaction date
Short cut for payment date to be equal to transaction date.
For example, you have entered a bill say 20/3/2023. The client has also paid it on the day. Rather than entering 20/3/2023, would be great to just enter say "s" in the date field and uses the transaction date for the payment date.
2 votesJumping the gun in my last update - sorry Marco. While Xero's date entry shortcuts can be helpful for the due date these don't quite extend to the Paid date field atm.
We'll get a sense of interest here and update if there's any plans made. 🙂

AU Payroll - Include date range in exported version of Payment Summary Details report
When running the Payment Summary Details report for a previous financial year, the report does not show the dates of the financial year the data belongs to. The report is titled Payment Summary Details as at Today's Date. For example: it should show Payment Summary Details reporting period 1st July 2017 - 30th June 2018. For audit purposes, there is no way of determining the date range the reported data relates to.

Invoice list view - Maintain filters when leaving page
FILTERS have to be reset each time you return to a page. This is common throughout Xero and is a real nuisance, but especially if you are editing sales invoices. E.g. filtering on a group of customers and a date range has to be done to edit each invoice individually. Resetting the filter for each invoice you edit is a real pain.

Fixed Assets - Export with dates in dd/mm/yyyy format
Currently if you export your fixed asset register, the dates are exported in mm/dd/yyyy format. If you use the dd/mm/yyyy format, then the figures are wrong in excel. e.g. 06 April is read as 04 June (and the figure eg 44088 is the wrong one). Other dates come as text e.g. 2/28/2022 and are not read at all. It should be possible to export them as number eg. 44080, which can be formatted as required.

Create report - comparative periods
I'm creating a new report at the request of a client and I want to be able to add the selection of periods to compare, but ... it doesn't give me the option. Please can you add this to the 'create reports' function , and then, we can really create, beautiful and meaningful reports for our clients.
2 votesHi Bernie, when you say you're creating a new report for a client would this be with the Blank report in Xero?

Sales invoice - Edit tax rates without removing payment
It would be great if we could edit the tax rate without reversing the payment allocation. Sometimes, when completing the VAT reconciliation before sending to HMRC, I spot errors in tax rates and I can't edit it without reversing the payment allocation. You can edit the account it is posted to but not the tax rate.

Contacts - Combine Add/Remove group options
When viewing a contact, the options to "add group" and "remove group" are two separate functions, making moving a contact from one group to another very clunky. This request is to combine the add/remove feature, so you can simply select/unselect which groups a contact is in. This would mean that to move a contact from one group to another, you would simply deselect the old group checkbox and check the new group checkbox.

AU Payroll - Auto populate contractor details from Contact record
Now that you have a function to create a Non-employee SubContrator who is paid Superannuation only here are some suggestions as currently it is a very labout intensive and manual process especally since STP2
- ability to populate the contractors details eg address, email, phone number from their Contact as they have been paid for an invoice via Bills
- pay items that alows you to enter the invoice value so the super is calculated - at present, new STP does not allow you to trick the system anymore so 10.5% SG has to be manually calculated
- ALLOW SPACES IN ABN field - so annoying when you cut and paste from ABR Lookup website that do have spaces - it chops off the last 3 digits
- ABN field with a link to ABR look up website
- link to the invoie super is being paid on so there is not chance of a keyoing error when mannually calucating the super

3 votesThanks for sharing with us in product ideas, Alison. It really helps for each idea to be separate so we can gauge interest in the specific feature community would like to see, and users know exactly what they're voting for.
Reading through your feedback, you should find you can now copy and paste an ABN that contains spaces. It also appears there is an existing idea for tracking contractors Super contributions that I added your vote for and you'll be kept updated if there's any progress for.
I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here to reflect your first point, however you're welcome to start others for the remaining ideas that you'd like to see us develop.

UK Payroll - Include salary sacrificed contributions in direct pension filings
In XERO as at today when you set up a salary sacrificed arrangement, the amount being sacrificed by the employee will be added onto the employer's contribution and appear under the employer's field for reporting purposes.
But when you need to submit the pension report to the pension provider portal you will need to separate employee and employer contribution. It will be much easier to download the report, at least from the pension filings option, that shows all the breakdown of all information as it needs to be so it can just be uploaded in the pension provider portal without having to make manual adjustments in the report.

New Bills to Pay - Add “Spent At” column for expenses
The new Bills To Pay screens seem to be causing a lot of discussion. For those users who extensively leverage the Expenses module, there are a number of improvements that could be made:
• Please Add “Spent At” in the columns so that Expenses make sense viewed in this context, otherwise every line says “Expense Claims” and the entire column is superfluous when dealing with Expenses (reduces redundant data display)
• Please add a link from the Bill listing directly to the Expense Detail if it was generated by Expenses (reduces click-through and page calls, improves efficiency)
• Please add an Action to Bill Detail to Delete the Bill and it’s related Expense in one click rather than the current seven (dramatically improves the efficiency of this task)
• Please improve the clarity of the figure that shows next to the item count. Please either label appropriately or move this to the top of the relevant column (general display fault)

Sales invoice - Create project while entering an invoice
Make it possible to create a new project while entering a supplier invoice in a similar way that you can create a new contact if the one you want isn't there. At the moment if we are entering a batch of invoices and there is one that hasn't had a project created we have to create a new one in Projects first before we can continue.

Manual Journals - Import as tax inclusive
The template for importing journals is setup tax inclusive, but once imported, Xero defaults to tax exclusive and a journal including tax transactions therefore doesn't balance until you go into the draft journal itself and change back to tax inclusive!
Would be useful to be able to globally set whether imported journals are tax inclusive or exclusive. Presumably in the "Tax Defaults" section of Financial Settings.

Contact - Select 'TPAR Reportable' when adding contact
Hi Xero,
could you please add a tick box button TPAR reportable in Supplier Contact - when adding new Supplier to have there option to tick "TPAR reportable"?
It would really help with ATO reporting when working with high volume of Suppliers/Contractors.
Atm Xero does not have a tab to differentiate between Supplier providing material only and Supplier/Contractor providing service, labour on which we need to file TPAR every year and within a year we are taking on numerous new contractors.11 votes
