New Invoicing - Change tabbing behaviour
Hey Xero, there seems to be a lot of issue and complaints about new invoicing. How about giving us all a break and re-enable the old invoicing till you get thing sorted out.
- Cant stop auto save , there is no undo button if you make a mistake.
- Tabbing between fields is not the same.
- Can't add expenses and leave them un-allocated to a GL, I know that the expense is @ cost price and needs to be completed. -Cant change the Customer with Billable expenses assigned without loosing the billable expenses and have to re-assign them
Cheers
2 votesAppreciate your feedback, Selwyn. We try to keep each idea separate so it's clear to others in community what they're adding their vote for, we can gauge the interest in a particular feature, and we can keep everyone updated of any development.
In relation to the points you've shared here we have an idea you may like to join around being able to switch off autosave, and another around the auto suggest feature that current fills in the account GL field for you and relates to your second point on leaving this blank.
Our team did make some changes to the flow of tabbing, so this should be more logical however it'd be good to get more detail on what's causing you issues when tabbing in new invoicing atm.
It might help to get a bit more detail about the billable expense scenario you're running into, too. In terms of billable expenses assigned to a customer - in how this is designed when you assign a billable expense this is allocated to either a contact or project. This is why it's not possible to change the contact of an invoice without first removing the billable expense items.

Allow for Custom Grouping on Reports to be Exploded or Minimized with Total in Minimize mode.
At present we are able to edit the layout of reports by rearranging, creating formulas, and grouping accounts. It would be INCREDIBLE to be able to customize the following.
1) Group font (size and boldness only)- right now it defaults to a much larger BOLD font than the underlying accounts. It would be nice to choose these sizes and weights
2) Customize the Group Total's Location - at present it shows only as an additional labeled row with the corresponding total. It would be a neater presentation to just have the group total show right in line with its main Group Title
GROUP SELECTION NAME $Total
Element 1 $
Element 2 $
Element 3...etc $3) Allow for the Group Titles and Total to be Exploded or Minimized with a drop down arrow. When in minimized mode it would display Just the Group Title and Total the sum account nested within the group. When it is exploded. It would indent the accounts nested within the groups with their own lines and totals in addition to creating a new Group Titles Total line and move the total at the end. It would result in something like the picture where the arrow next to the total is clickable to expand or minimize

New Invoicing - Shading & Colour
Classic invoicing uses shading on screen to help see the data fields. Recreate that in new invoicing. You might find you get a better response to new invoicing if users can easily see the data they are trying to work on rather than scanning a white screen. The content is fine, it just looks rubbish.

Sales Invoice - Import with attachments
Import the sales invoices to Xero with the PDFs being attached to the invoice automatically. I understand we can import sales invoices through CSV files but to provide relative documents to customers, we need to attach pdf manually. Would be great if this could be possible. This action can save time and possible error of attaching a wrong pdf.
14 votesAppreciate the interest in the idea here. Being open with a lot of work focused on iterating and adding features to new invoicing atm we don't have plans for this in the short-term. We'll continue to track the interest of the idea and if there is any change to share we'll update you here.

Business Activity Statement | GST Audit report - Add transactions source field
I would like the GST AUDIT REPORT to be permanently updated, so that the transaction SOURCE FIELD would be included in the report. Otherwise the report should be customisable to include this and many other fields / options, so any of us professionals and internal accountants can extract what we need to review client / business BAS data easier, and lodge the BAS's quicker. There are MANY ideas for the GST AUDIT report to be customisable and several are also relevant to me and my needs, but I couldn't find a request for this one and it is such an easy amendment and a basic need, for BAS quality control.

Invoicing - Invoice multiple contacts of a group, but not all of them
There are times I want to create several invoices within a group, but not the whole group. For example, in the Equine Lessons Group, there are contacts who take private lessons, group lessons, and/or homeschool lessons. Each contact may also be at a different skill level, therefore a different class. I would like to be able to select which contacts to invoice for Level 1 Homeschool Lesson, or for Level 3 Homeschool Lesson, or even Equine First Aid, depending on who, when , and what course is being taken.

Invoice Payments - Show bank account details with pay by Credit Card option
I've received multiple calls from customers who were confused when trying to find my bank account details on the online invoice. They couldn’t see the bank account details immediately on the view after clicking the "Review and Pay" or "View your bill online" link in the Xero email. Initially, the invoice shows only the Stripe payment option, and customers must click "View Invoice Details" to see my bank account information. This setup is confusing and not straightforward for customers!
According to Xero support, it’s impossible to change this view for customers:
"As these small changes were requested by many users to show an invoice summary, your customers will need to select 'Show Invoice Details' to view terms & conditions and any bank details included. The invoice view in the email link you send is a default and cannot be customized at this time; however, our product team is continuing to explore ways to update layouts for a more positive user experience."
I would like to know who these users are who requested that bank account details be hidden from customers. Or is this another instance of gaslighting from Xero?
I don’t understand why Xero would make these changes, which negatively impact my business. Customers have pointed out that it appears we’re encouraging payment by credit/debit card, which incurs a commission fee—a fee that benefits Xero, as they receive the surcharge! Why should our business face negative customer feedback because of Xero's design decisions?
I would like the ability to choose how my clients view their online invoices. It’s critical for our business that customers have all the necessary information to make payments accurately! We use third-party software to create and email invoices to customers, but Xero does not allow us to add a PDF, so customers can only view the online version, which hides our bank account details and payment terms!

Repeating Invoices - Quantity of payments option
Repeating Invoices have the option to provide an optional 'End Date', however it can sometimes be difficult and/or time consuming to identify the correct end date. There's also potential to miscalculate the correct end date which can sometimes result in customers being under or over charged if the selected end date results in the wrong quantity of payments.
It would be very useful if there was a 'Quantity' option for Repeating Invoices which would automatically select the correct end date. Therefore eliminating over/under payments.
This feature would be useful for those who know exactly how many times a repeating invoice should be sent.
For example, if a customer was on a payment plan of 4 x $500 payments paid fortnightly.
Currently, if the 'End Date' option was used for this and incorrectly selected, the customer might be under or over charged. Both situations are negative for the Xero customer.

Bank Reconciliation - Option to Save a draft reconciliation for completing later
Reconciling funds - I need to be able to save Reconciling items while I'm half way through reconciling.
eg - I receive large amounts via bank statement - eg $16,000. That $16,000 will be made up of 10 holiday home bookings. Then I break down each booking into cleaning, credit card fees, our company commission, Airbnb commission, etc etc. Sometimes there may be up to 80-100 lines of items. Currently I can not save and it is really frustrating as it can take an hour to do and then if I have to leave or can't reconcile I need to investigate further.Reconciling funds - I need to be able to save Reconciling items while I'm half way through reconciling.

Invoice Email - Ability to edit "Review and pay" banner
The "Review and pay" banner misleads recipients into thinking they can make electronic payments, but we're not using e-invoicing and have it turned off. Another major issue is that it causes significant delays in loading or, in some cases, renders the invoice completely inaccessible. The banner in the new invoicing should be named "Review" rather than "Review and pay" or be editable to suit different needs.

Inventory - Check items on Quotes and Orders from Products and Services screen
When checking information on the inventory screen it would be extremely helpful if you could click on the 'In committed quotes' or 'Quantity on order' to see the customer or supplier to which they are assigned. Sometimes I need to chase a supplier for parts but have to waste time trawling through the purchase orders to track down who they have been order from. Likewise it would save time to be able to go straight to the customer quoted once an item has been received.

Xero Accounting app - Add numerical discount to mobile app invoices
Add numerical discount to invoicing in the mobile app. This is a feature on the browser, currently the mobile app only allows a % discount.
When you go from browser to app having applied a £ discount on the invoice. The app converts it into a % and show different amounts.
2 votesHi team, appreciate your feedback and wanting consistency between the web and mobile functionality.
While I can confirm our product team are aware and across the idea here we want to be honest that we don't have immediate plans for developing the ability to add amount discounts within the Xero Accounting app.
We'll keep tracking the votes and interest through this idea and update you if there's any news to share.

NZ Payroll - Multiple employee bank accounts change in allocation of payments.
When an employee has set amounts to be paid to multiple bank accounts, if there are insufficient funds to pay the amounts Xero allocates to the lowest amount not the order of the bank accounts. This means that payments like rent can be short paid. It would be good to have a flag notifying you of this and an easier way to reorganise the payments.

New invoicing - Show warning if repeat template has been deleted
The Classic version of Invoicing used to inform you on the view of an invoice that was created from a Repeating Invoice when the Repeating Template had been deleted.
The new version does not give you this information resulting in confusion and wasted time.
Please see screen shots below.
This is causing us a major headache as we have lots of Repeating Invoices that have to be cancelled and if a user isn't sure new invoicing doesn't help but allows you to go through the process of trying to delete the template again which results in an error.

New invoicing - Hide Tax Rate column
In New Invoicing we can now hide the tax amount column. As this is for organisations that are not registered for tax, the Tax Rate column is also redundant so would it be possible to hide that too? We are set up as No VAT Scheme so both these columns just get in the way and it seems odd that we can mask one but not the other when you only ever need both or neither.
While we're at it, could we do the same in Billing?
Thanks

Payment Services - Add Alipay as a payment service
Proposal: Integrating Alipay as a Payment Option in Xero
Overview
Introducing Alipay as a payment option for Xero invoices will provide significant benefits for businesses engaging with international markets, particularly China. As China is Australia’s largest trading partner, offering a seamless payment method like Alipay will enhance cash flow, improve payment experiences, and reduce barriers for Chinese customers to pay invoices.Key Reasons to Integrate Alipay:
China is Australia’s Largest Trading Partner
China accounts for a significant share of Australia’s exports and imports. For businesses that trade with Chinese companies or customers, Alipay is often the preferred or only method of payment.
Providing Alipay as an option makes it easier for Chinese partners to pay invoices promptly, avoiding delays caused by incompatible payment systems.
Alipay’s Market Dominance
Alipay is one of the most widely used payment platforms in China, with over 1.3 billion users worldwide.
It dominates the digital payment landscape, with Chinese businesses and individuals heavily reliant on it for transactions.
By integrating Alipay, Xero will enable businesses to cater directly to this massive user base.
Seamless Cross-Border Transactions
Traditional international bank transfers are often slow, expensive, and prone to errors, especially when dealing with currency conversions.
Alipay simplifies the process by allowing instant, secure payments while managing the exchange rate in real-time.
This will accelerate cash flow for businesses and reduce administrative overheads related to tracking international payments.
Increased Competitiveness for Xero
Competitors offering invoicing software may already be looking to integrate popular international payment methods.
Adding Alipay will enhance Xero’s value proposition for businesses that trade with Chinese partners, making it a preferred choice for international companies.
Facilitating Growth for Australian Businesses
Australian exporters, particularly in sectors like agriculture, education, gas, manufacturing, and tourism, rely heavily on Chinese customers.
Allowing payments via Alipay will make it simpler for these businesses to collect revenue, helping them focus on growth and strengthening trade relationships.
Improving Customer Experience
For Chinese businesses and individuals, paying via Alipay is familiar, trusted, and easy. This reduces friction and encourages prompt payments.
Businesses will experience fewer payment disputes or abandoned invoices when their customers can use their preferred method of payment.
Strengthening Xero’s Presence in Asia-Pacific
By supporting Alipay, Xero can bolster its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly among small-to-medium enterprises looking to trade with China.
This strategic move aligns with Xero’s goal to expand its reach and customer base globally.
Increased Adoption of Digital Payments
Alipay supports the global trend of moving towards cashless and digital payments.
Adding this payment option complements Xero’s existing tools for managing invoices, automating payments, and streamlining financial operations.
Implementation Benefits:
Reduced Payment Delays: Faster and more reliable transactions.
Improved Cash Flow: Businesses can access funds quickly and reduce waiting times.
Simplified Processes: Streamlined currency conversion and automated payment reconciliations.
Enhanced Customer Satisfaction: A payment method tailored to key trading partners.
Conclusion
Integrating Alipay into Xero’s platform will significantly enhance Xero’s appeal to businesses operating with Chinese customers and partners. This move will not only simplify the payment process but also improve cash flow, customer satisfaction, and Xero’s competitive position in the market. By acknowledging the needs of businesses in an increasingly global economy, Xero can continue to be a leader in innovative financial solutions.Proposal: Integrating Alipay as a Payment Option in Xero
