  1. Currently, when generating management reports in Xero, users have the ability to compare data across prior months and multiple periods. Some reports, like the Cash Summary, also include an “Average” option, which is a helpful feature for identifying trends.

    It would be highly beneficial to extend this “Average” functionality to all relevant reports—particularly the Profit & Loss report—to provide more consistent and insightful analysis.

  2. The feature request is to allow the defining of current liability accounts for pay items with pay types set to Deductions, Payroll Taxes, and Post-tax Deductions. This will enable the tracking of payroll source deductions and taxes necessary for remittance reports to the tax authority (such as EI, CPP and income taxes for T4 and T4 summary completion in Canada).

    There are two ways I believe Xero developers could achieve this goal.

    Thanks for sharing and engaging with Product ideas. While we understand wanting to see improvements to Global Pay Run, however as you may have recently read -

    We’re making some changes to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date. 

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run. 

    With this update we want to be upfront here that we don't have any intentions of further developing Global Pay Run, and will close this idea.

  3. We are looking for a solution where we can generate a SEPA direct debit XML from customer and invoice data in Xero. This XML format is called PAIN.008.001.02 which is supported by all 31 countries in the SEPA region (including the UK). Every bank in the SEPA region lets you upload a PAIN.008.001.02 XML file to collect direct debit.

    Hi everyone, appreciate your input here. And thanks to those of you who provided some options too!

    As you're aware, we don't restrict currencies/locations from our side, so you can integrate a payment service that supports direct debit payment that's available for the SEPA region.

    One of the options that we can suggest to you is to set up GoCardless as a payment service in your Xero org, as they support Direct Debit schemes for this region. You can also check out their API documentation here, if you need to see it.

    That being said, we'll mark this request as 'delivered'.

  4. New Xero Activity Statement Report

    It would be great if the new activity statement report automatically converted standard BAS to simpler BAS when importing into Xero Tax like the old ones has done for ages. We don't like having to produce two different types of reconciliations within our practice because then there are two different ways of doing things, which confuses junior staff. We want Xero to make things easier and automatically import the needed data as the old activity statement report does.

  5. I see that in Aus the starter plans in Xero are going up by 7-12% again this year (July 2025).

    Part of the sales pitch appears to be access to analytics. Subscribers on this level are mum and dad businesses, maybe an employee or two (as restricted by Xero).

    They need a simple system they can use, they don't need or want sophisticated analytics systems. There's nothing in their accounts to analyse. They barely have time or inclination to do a bank rec.

    Hi Zachary, it looks like there is an integration with Mechanic desk available. If you've already integrated this with your organisation and looking for further capabilities to what it offers we recommend reaching out to their support directly (listed under the additional info section of the Xero app store).

    As they designed and built the integration they can confirm what's possible and would need to make decisions of if this is something they'd be willing to expand their integration for.

    company name / address/ banking details / legal name etc are all included.

    I've just confirmed for myself that this feature is already available in Xero.


    When your contacts are exported, the ABN will appear in column AF 'TaxNumber' and the ACN will appear in column AL 'CompanyNumber'

  9. After adding a new location in Square we found that the Sales figures and expenses/tips etc where not being synched into Xero for that location. I raised a query with Xero and Square and neither side had a clue. I found the answer myself when I had to raise a query with Amaka who handle the interface, I did not really know that I had to manage the interface myself as there is no documentation from either side about this.     As Xero has an open API, anyone can develop integrations for it without providing us with documentation.

  10. Currently, when we use Pay With Wise, each bill is paid as a separate payment from Wise to the supplier. This is not the expected way, as suppliers prefer to have one payment per month which bundles all pending receivables from us. This mimics how payment batch files work.

    Please improve Pay with Wise so that multiple bills for the same supplier are sent as one bank payment.

    Hi all, while we removed the Pay with Wise as a follow on from our last update we wanted to confirm that we have released UK bill payments in Xero.

    Customers in the UK can set up direct bank transfer as a payment method for GBP bills to quickly and securely pay bills. Funds are transferred from your bank account by Crezco using open banking.   11. I would love to be able to one-click copy text fields that are commonly manually copied, such as:

    • Invoice/Bill total
    • Invoice/Bill number
    • Customer ABN
    • Customer email
    • Customer address
    • Supplier BSB/account number
    • Payment/batch total

    This click would copy the unformatted number/text to allow pasting into another app, such as Internet Banking, Excel, Calculator, email etc.

    When paying a bill via Internet Banking, I need to manually copy the total via Ctrl-C, then paste into Internet Banking and manually remove the comma.
    When pasting into Windows Calculator (which also won't accept commas) I need to paste into Notepad first…

  12. When pulling the Trial balance it keeps defaulting back to the last financial year. Why not set it up to default to "Today" as most of the time you are pulling the Trial balance as it is today. Then if you want to see the Trial balance for the prior financial year will have it already on there in the last column. We pull the Trial balance regularly for reconciliations and it wastes time to keep changing the date and then click update. Although it does not take long to do this, it is still time wasted.

    Thanks for sharing this suggestion with the community. I've confirmed with the team that are no plans to change the date that the Trial Balance report defaults to.

    However, if there's specific dates or filters you'd like to use each time you run the Trial Balance report, I'd recommend creating a custom report that defaults to today's date.

  13. Add a date option on the Taxes and Filings tab to add the PAYE payment date. This would easily show if the payment has already been set in advance without having to log into internet banking to double check.

  14. Ability to link quote and invoice (not billing from the actual quote)
    We currently keeping time in Avaza and pulling time through on our invoices in Avaza into Xero. The actual time(our cost) is then shown in the Xero invoice which is changed to the invoice amount. I am trying to get to the ultimate spreadsheet - Quote (budget column) vs Actual cost (time) vs Invoiced amounts (this all has to be shown as the separate line items quoted)

  15. Currently Xero is set up to nil off both the Employer NI Expense GL and Liability GL as soon as payroll is run because employers NI contribution is always setoff against HMRC allowances.

    However, it is important to have employers NI contribution cleared only when remittances are made to HMRC and when HMRC send allowances (which is always a month accrued). The allowances are setoff against the employers NI expense GL.

    This treatment will allow the accountant to respond to remittances made to HMRC in terms of employers NI and allowances received from HMRC accordingly.

  16. It would be really useful to view supplier invoices and payments on the same report like a Supplier Ledger. Currently I need to view the Expenses by Contact report for invoice history and then go into Bank Account Transactions and search for payments for a particular supplier, and there seems to be no option to print or export out once you search. In other systems this is a standard report and is very handy when checking inter-company transaction history across a group of related entities. Does anyone have a better workaround?

    Totally appreciate continued interest in being able to see more in your supplier interactions. Now in Oct 2021, we've been continuing to improve & evolve Xero reports.

    Along with the series of Contact Transactions reports, there are our Payable Invoice reports, and a fresh Income & Expenses report which can easily be run for just Expenses.

    You'll also find the Account Transactions report can be filtered by 'Description' containing contact name, and a filter for 'Source' so you can select the specific transaction types you'd like to view data for.

  17. Currently, when you connect your Xero login to myIR, Xero automatically files the pay run with the IRD as soon as it is posted. Unfortunately, there is no option to opt out of this automatic filing without disconnecting from myIR entirely.

    It would be much more flexible if posting and filing could be done as separate steps. While it's possible to have another user who isn't connected to myIR handle this, small businesses often rely on a single person to manage the entire payroll process.

  18. The issue with MFA in some banks blocking yodlee's transaction feed negates the benefit of it in the first place. You want a secure way to receive the transaction data without having someone with signing privileges (a senior exec) log in each time a bookkeeper is trying to do their work. If Xero built an easy API or a other solution that we could send to our banks and put pressure on them to build into their system I'm sure you would get a ton of buy in from the accounting community.
