  1. Currently, Xero automatically assigns holiday leave to the pay period in which it falls. However, for businesses with a different pay schedule within the tax periods, (e.g., a financial period running from the 6th to the 5th of the month), such as cut off being the 28th of the previous month and paying on the 5th of the month. this can cause confusion and misalignment in holiday pay processing. Employees may receive their holiday pay in a month that doesn’t align with the leave taken, leaving them out of pocket or causing administrative burdens.

    We appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how this would improve your payroll workflow. While this is not something we have plans to develop at this time, we will continue to use your feedback to help us shape the future of Xero Payroll. As noted by others in the idea, one option for now is to continue manually adjusting the leave hours for the correct pay period. We acknowledge this isn't an ideal solution, but it does allow you to correctly apply the leave across pay runs.


  2. Transaction "History and notes": show in the title how many notes exist. This will avoid having to click the drop down arrow head to check every time. e.g. "History and notes (3 entries)".

    Hi Peter, we get why being able to see the number of entries in the History and notes section at a glance would be helpful, especially when you're quickly checking for activity on an invoice.

    It might seem like a small change, but we can see how it would save time and make things just that bit easier when you're managing lots of transactions.

    This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage, which means we’re keeping an eye on how much interest it gets. Feel free to add your vote or share how this would help you, the more context we have, the better. We’ll keep this thread updated with any news.


  3. Ensure that the branding theme that is assigned to a customer is used to send POs, statements, credit notes, quotes etc ... not just invoices.

  4. New Invoicing - Show ABN details with Client details in the "To" section of the invoice. All other information is there for reference, excluding the ABN.
    To view the ABN details, you need to leave the invoice screen and go to Contacts.

  5. We often receive all or partial items of a purchase order before the supplier bill. We want to be able to mark these items as received on the PO so that our inventory will update the quantity we have on hand.

  6. When writing a cheque, I am limited to a 6-digit unique cheque number. With QUickBooks I used the date as the checknumber. For example May 31 2025 would be 20250531, then I append a letter to it as 20250531a. With making payment on web sites and then entering checks into Xero this still allows things to sort properly. Being limited to 6 numbers makes it harder to keep track of things.

    Hi Stanley, thanks for sharing your idea and explaining your specific workflow for tracking payments. It's really helpful to understand how you use cheque numbers to keep things organised.

    We've reviewed your suggestion to increase the character limit for cheque numbers, and it’s now ready to gain support from other community members.

    Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how a more flexible cheque number field could improve their own record-keeping with Xero.

  7. New Invoicing My issue is that when an Invoice has been amended after it has been sent. I have found that currently the tick is still in the box as Sent . I think it should not be ticked until the amended invoice has been emailed again. I sent it twice to a customer Also The History and Notes on that Invoice Show it was updated but not emailed straight after I edited it. Anyone else having issues with this?? Maybe I should log a support call for it. If so let me know

    Thanks for your idea and feedback, Maria. I'm just checking in with the team on the history for the send in the second part of your post here.

    In terms of the sent box being ticked. This is automatically ticked when the invoice is initially sent and does not change when an invoice is subsequently edited. Appreciate this might be something that would help your processes and I've slightly amended the title of the idea for this.

    While we don't have any plans for this right now, we'll begin to get a sense of the interest in this, here.

  9. We should be able to prepare and view future VAT returns where there are multiple unsubmitted returns. Ie. able to prepare multiple VAT returns for client approval at once. Currently, they have to be prepared and submitted before the next quarter's return is visible.

    Just a quick update that this idea is open for voting and comments from the wider community - please share your thoughts on how this would help you. We'll keep an eye on the support for this idea here.

    In the mean time, you may wish to use the “Looking to see VAT transactions for your own date range” option to run off reports for each return period, and then calculate the VAT from this report.

  10. NZ Payroll - update minimum wage increases automatically

    There are other payroll system they do this, and with the minimum wage requirements changing every year, there should be an automatic update or prompt to change anyone who is affected by this, to avoid the error in not paying out correctly as per the legislation,

  11. There is nowhere to report missing features and bugs apart from this forum, which is more for ideas.
    I have found it difficult to find a place to report an issue quickly.
    For new invoicing the list of missing features and bugs should be reported so we can see what has already been picked up and what is being worked on and fixed.

    HI Jill, appreciate you posting here, not knowing where else to go.

    For something that appears to not be working as it should or where you're having performance issues in Xero - these are best to raise with our specialists at Xero Support where we have tools to investigate, triage any issues and escalate with our team if needed.

    When it comes to new invoicing we've communicated a lot of the changes and what's coming up through our Xero central page here. Otherwise, you'll also find many ideas for changes across product ideas here that I'd recommend joining for updates where you're interested. Searching 'New invoicing' on the main page of the site should help you find a list of the different features.

  12. For Spend Money entry, I have two elements that would speed up entry:

    1. Prefill the last entry for that Contact. Most venders (e.g. "Uber") will be the same expense type over and over. Having the 1st item prefill from the last entry will save time.

    2. Right now "Save" is essentially "Save and Close" -- and then "Save & Add Another" creates a new blank item. I would like "Save" to stay on the same screen, so I can then use "Copy" from the "Options" menu to enter the same/similar item.

  13. Hi, on the mobile app, it would be really helpful, if when reconciling bank entries, when xero comes uip with its "suggestion", that is also displays the VAT line. Saves having to go into the suggeestion edit and check VAT is applied correclty

    Hi Ray, we understand how helpful it'd be to see the VAT/tax line directly on the automated reconciliation suggestion in the Xero Accounting mobile app. Currently, the mobile reconciliation suggestion card doesn’t show the tax line, which means extra taps and added steps.

    Hi Tania, thanks for submitting this idea! We understand it'd be to have an automatic alert for unallocated overpayments during bank reconciliation. Without this, credits can be easily missed and left unallocated.

    Right now, there’s no pop-up or indicator on the reconciliation screen to remind you about existing unallocated credits, so manual tracking is needed.

  16. Can we drill down into the history lines by date to see the actual changes/edits or whatever was done for individual invoices? This would enable a clearer picture for future scrutiny.
    My client couldn't work out what had been done and neither could I . All the history said was 'edited' by an employee.

  17. Please please please Xero can you work on a proper Square bank feed integration so we don't have to keep using Amaka or other 3rd party connection apps!!!
    Why can't we connect Square as a bank account with a feed similar to Stripe?!?! We are in 2024, square has been around for 15years!!

    I have so many issues with Square! And it is one of the most widely used payment processors!

    A client has a coffee van and uses it to take payments for cups of coffee. I had to setup the Amaka integration so that…

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on a direct bank feed for Square. We understand that using a third-party integration isn't always seamless and that a direct feed, like the one for Stripe, would make life easier when reconciling your payments.

    As noted by others here, the current solution is to connect an app from the Xero App Store to bring your Square transactions into Xero, or you can continue to manually import these. 

    Right now, building a direct bank feed for Square isn’t in our plans. We're continuing to monitor the interest in this idea, so please keep adding your votes and comments as it helps us see the demand.

  18. After the customer accepts the quote, we need to book the work in. It doesn't get invoiced until the work is complete. It would be helpful if we could add an "Expected Start Date" to quotes after they've been accepted, or at least be able to mark it as "Booked".

    Hi Danielle, when you say you'd like to post an application. Could quotes potentially be a fit for this purpose here? Otherwise could you share a bit more detail on what would be needed to record the application in Xero.

  20. Ability to send or check remittances from individual contact page
    When a supplier requests a copy remittance it would be easier to be able to go into their contact page and check/send a remittance from there instead of having to look at the batch remittance and send from there.
