Bills List View - Add a Notes / Reminder section
Insert a Notes section on the Bills You Need To Pay screen.
For example, I can enter a due date, planned date etc .. but a section for Notes that can include a little reminder for example "confirm A123456 has been delivered"3 votes -
NZ Payroll - Record sick leave as days
We need sick leave to be recorded in days to line up with current NZ payroll legislation. 10 days sick leave. The current settings in hours only work for people who work the same hours on the same days. Anyone with variable hours or different hours on different days this does not work and manual accrual needs to be kept outside of payroll. Then leave balances need to be manually adjusted which is a lot of work. This has been an issue for many many years and would be good to get fixed.
12 votesHey team, as some may have seen we've been doing lots of work in the NZ Payroll space. For those just getting started with Xero (from 5 August 2024) sick leave will now be recorded in days, and can set up the Sick leave entitlement date.
We appreciate many in the idea here have been using Xero for a while and we want to confirm this is something we're working on for our existing customers as well, however there are more intricacies to work through from what already exists to the new. We'll round back to confirm with more detail and to let you know when this is being released for everyone. Thanks

Projects - Lock staff pay rates
The ability to 'lock in' previous periods pay rates in Projects. Currently, when uploading any pay rate changes per member of staff, this cascades back to all hours worked on projects which skews figures.

Find and Recode - Cash Mode
To be able to use Find and Recode in Cash Mode. This would make searching for and recoding payments of bills and invoices within a time period much easier. For example, when a client becomes GST Registered and payments from a certain date need to have GST applied.

Reconciliation - Show default account for contact when reconciling
While in the reconcile screen, when I type in who and it pulls up my contact, I would like it to automatically default to the gl acct that I already have on the Contact card. I have to click on details then go to the gl box click on it to see what the gl acct is. Sometimes lets say Costco it could either by Office Supplies or Auto Expense(gas). So when I type up the Costco contact I would like to see what gl acct it is going to and if I need to change it to Auto Expense I can do that right there and not have to keep going to the details screen to change it.

Bank Rule - Part pay existing bill (like the split function)
Ability to set up a bank rule to pay off an existing bill that is paid in monthly instalments. Currently have to manually allocate the monthly payment to a bill using the match and split function but it would be useful if a rule could be set up for this.

Glitches in the software
I've always felt like your software was created by people who have never used the software themselves because some of the pathways and defaults just don't make sense. Note: I access Xero using the Chrome browser.
Here are some changes that could be made that would really improve the user experience with Xero:When I'm entering bills, some date fields want me to enter the date like this: date/month/year and other times it wants me to enter it like this: month/date/year. It's very frustrating having to switch back and forth randomly.
After I finish putting in a bill, I click "Bills to Pay" at the top of the page and it takes me to paid bills. Why doesn't it take me to unpaid bills? I would never click "Bills to pay" and want it to take me to paid bills. The landing page for the bills section should never be All Bills or Paid Bills, it should always be Unpaid Bills. I have this same problem when I click Bills after I allocate a credit note. For some bizarre reason it takes me to Paid Bills. Please make it take me to unpaid bills.
When I'm entering bills, the due date should automatically default to the date of the bill. I noticed you are able to set a default due date for invoices a user creates, but nothing defaults for bills that are entered and it should just do the date of the invoice to make it easier to adjust the due date for each bill that is entered.
The pages jump to strange locations. After I've reconciled an item and hit 'OK' the page always jumps to a weird portion up or down the page rather than where I was working before I hit "OK". I have to scroll to find the next item I was working on each time I reconcile an item. A lot of pages jump to weird locations like that. It is extremely cumbersome and confusing working around this glitch.
The bank feeds never work for long. I try to connect them, sometimes they won't connect and when they do they always randomly disconnect and it's hit or miss if I can reconnect them. I do not understand why this service is so unreliable. With Quickbooks I can connect the feeds and they stay connected until I disconnect them or change my passwords.

However, it's best that strange behaviour or performance issues are shared with our specialists at Xero Support who have tools to be able to investigate and escalated with our team if something isn't working as it should.
There are a couple of your points I wanted to confirm here;
- Bills to pay - you are able to set a default page for this. It sounds like it may currently be set to Paid bills in your org. You can set the default by clicking the 3 dots in the top right of the page where you'll see 'Default bill page' to select your preference
- Default for bills due date - From the same place you can go to for invoice (Invoice settings) you can set a default Due date for your bills.
I'd recommend raising a case so we can confirm the other behaviours you're getting.

Search Function on Bank - Received or Spent
In the search function under the Bank Statements or Account Transactions tab,
It would be great to filter only received or spent transactions.1 voteHi Tiaan, while you can't filter or search by money received or spent you can order your transactions from the Account transactions tab by Received or Spent by clicking on the column header. Does this achieve what you're in need of here, or could you share a bit more detail of what you're often looking to find? If needed you could add a date search to filter these down further.

professional version
Wouldn't it be a good idea to develop a professional version of XERO for those of us who use this for bigger concerns or who are professional bookkeepers? This one size fits all approach is not ideal, we don't require pop ups telling us how to create a copy invoice every time when it is something we do on a regular basis. Not the only thing that slows us down but there are too many to list

NZ GST - Filter Late claims for transactions that affect GST
NZ GST - Why does the Late claims tab now show all adjustments made - even those with no GST on them. I only want to see the ones affecting the GST.

AU Payroll - Filter Leave Balance report by employment status
Has support considered the option to filter the leave balance report by employment status? When generating this report all employees are listed or only an individual employee. Why would we need the current balance of leave for terminated employees? I have some employees who have returned, so both are listed but I don't know which is active until I run the report on each.

Chart of accounts - Ability to set billable expense based on account
The ability to automate billable expense assignment by GL code. If you code to a certain GL code you want it assigned automatically as a billable expense for a certain customer. This helps with intercompany on-charges.

Foreign Currency Gains and Losses - remove opening balance from P&L account 498
Revaluation of the open positions is calculated from invoice/bill issued date to the report date and it is correct. Not sure where from opening balance are coming and are impacting the P&L balances.2 votes -
Invoicing - Ability to bill/charge a different contact
Some of my customers utilise my services through a scheme where their employer or a separate 3rd party will pay their invoice.
Often this same employer or 3rd party will be paying for many of my different clients and they will often pay me in one payment.Think of something like an insurance company paying for repairs on many different vehicles, or NDIS payments for the provision of health services to many different customers.
I quite urgently need a way to keep each customer separate so that I can easily retrieve sales history and data based on individual customer, and at the same time have the total amount invoiced to all individual customers appear on the one 3rd party contact/account.
I have seen other systems where the invoice is raised against the individual customer and then an option is selected to "Bill To:" the 3rd party.
This then gives me the option to view individual customer history at a quick glance, whilst being able to generate statements of total charges to a separate organisation who has committed to pay.

Starter Plan - Annual transaction count
Sales question:
we want to buy xero. We only do 100 transactions per year, but we have one month which has more than 20 invoices and 5 bills, (an event we organise). does the basic subscription do monthly transaction counts only or can it do an annual transaction count.10 votes -
Fixed Assets - Allow dates to be entered in any format
In most areas of xero you can enter dates in any format, however, in the 'new fixed assets' this errors unless its in the one format Xero accepts.
Please make the date fields similar to the other fields in Xero, allowing any format e.g. 1/1/24, 1.1.24, 1-1-24, 1 1 24, etc

Xero Projects - Allow Users to print their own timesheet
Limited Projects Users should be able to print a timesheet. Those who are subcontractors require their own records, and this saves duplication. Clients often require timesheets to be signed, and the person who entered the time is usually the best person to arrange this, however they cannot do so unless they can print their own timesheet.
