New invoicing - Ability to set a default BCC email
Is there a way to edit the email template when invoicing to add a standard email address in the BCC field? by doing this Trustpilot gets the email details to send out reviews?? i cant find an option for this feature
obviously you would put your unique Trustpilot email address into the the BCC template field
2 votesHi Andrew, there's no way to set a default BCC email when sending from Xero atm. It may be something we look at in the future. For now, we'll begin to get a sense of the interest for this here. Thanks

Inventory - Check items on Quotes and Orders from Products and Services screen
When checking information on the inventory screen it would be extremely helpful if you could click on the 'In committed quotes' or 'Quantity on order' to see the customer or supplier to which they are assigned. Sometimes I need to chase a supplier for parts but have to waste time trawling through the purchase orders to track down who they have been order from. Likewise it would save time to be able to go straight to the customer quoted once an item has been received.

Invoice Templates - Automatically update bank account details
Payment information on invoices updates automatically from information held in the payment services section of Xero. Except, using the .DOCX templates, they don't update automatically your business's bank account details.
Scenario - you accept invoice payments direct to your business bank account. Those details are included in the invoice template. You change your bank account details. You have to update each and every invoice template you have to show the new bank account details. However, if you change your Stripe payment information for example, that information is automatically updated in your templates. Why the different treatment?
The different treatment of these types of payment information increases the chances of failing to correctly update your bank account details on all of your invoice templates. For example, you could forget to update a template or you could make a typo on one of them.
Your business's bank account details should be entered in one place, and one place only (just like the other payment services) to reduce the likelihood of errors and to allow automatic updating of that information when it changes. Treat business bank account details the same way you treat other payment services.

Credit control- Add 'Days Overdue' to Contacts
Restore the ability to see the total number of days an invoice is overdue from the client contact page for credit control. It used to say 125 days overdue in red - that has gone so it is now not as easy to decide how firm to be when emailing a client to chase a late invoice. Those days overdue on an email heading get attention fast.

Projects - Better assignment of expenses
It would also be a lot more practical to assign the expenses to projects in just the same way as it's done in invoices, instead of assigning them via the project tab. I notoced that not all expenses are taken into account and I had to go back to each bill to redo the project assignment to make sure that everything is accounted for, and even then, i find that there are still gaps.
The invoice project assignment method has the merit of showing what was assigned or not.
Having said this, it would also be very useful to have a report with details of bills and invoices that shows what expenses were assigned to what project in each, allowing for a faster verification. It would also be a lot more practical to assign the expenses to projects in just the same way as it's done in invoices, instead of assigning them via the project tab. Bills - Show Account Numbers on PDF bill
Printing Bills in Xero do not show GL Account numbers, This is frustrating when you have larger Bills you would like to use as a template for GL codes

UK Payroll - Link payroll with expenses
I think it would be fantastic if expenses were able to be linked to payroll/ pay run. Expenses are great and the app is really easy to use but from a processing point, most firms pay with their the payroll. You currently you have to create a expense suspense and clear the expenses to that and then manually add the expenses to payroll which also get posted to the expense suspense- it all a bit of a hassle and would be fantastic if the expenses could just be added to payroll, in the same way the leave does.

User Roles - Purchase order only access
We wish to let some of our users have access to purchase orders, raising & viewing etc.
Currently if we give them access to purchase orders it also lets them see supplier balances and also click into the supplier and therefore into the accounts i.e invoices etc.
We would like our staff to just see the purchase orders and raise purchase orders but not have access to anything else.

New invoicing - Remove split screen when sending
The split screen when sending an invoice makes everything cluttered. I already approved the invoice, I dont need to see it as I add an Email address
4 votesSorry to hear you don't like this feature, Richard. We've heard from others that this helps them get a better picture of what their invoices will look like when sending to a customer and enables them to make changes on the fly without having to preview or send a copy to themselves first.
Appreciate it might not be everyone's cup of tea and while we don't have any plans for removing this atm, we'll get a sense of the interest through the idea here.

Xero Verify app
Allow MyIR account to be added into the Xero Verify app.
1 voteThanks for your feedback, Johanna. I want to be open, while we'll continue to work on improving the experience when verifying with Xero we don't have any plans to remove the Xero verification process or completely integrate this with other systems verification processes.

MFA | Role that can enable another user to reset multi factor authentication
Have a designated advisor / subscriber have the ability to remove multi factor authentication from a user so that a new method can be set up by the user.
Purpose: For those businesses that have operators which are not tech savy, having either the subscriber or the advisor who holds a professional membership / qualification, who have passed ID verification processes, let the designated person have the ability to toggle off multi factor authentication so that the user and re set up their authentication process so that when their phone is lost or stolen and their alternative entry points don't work, we can get them set up straight away.

AU Payroll - Ability to swap primary and secondary bank accounts for employees
I have an employee with two bank accounts - Bank Account 2 currently has a dollar amount going to it, and Primary Bank Account has the balance. The employee would like to swap which one is getting the dollar amount and which the balance. I'd like to do this with a button.
Instead I have to do it manually, copying and pasting field by field.

Income and expenses by contact - Filter using tracking category
We run multiple branches out of one Xero ledger. We find the income and expenses by contact report very handy to track sales data, however it would be much more useful if we were able to filter by tracking catagory (for our instance we track branch locaiton).

VAT - Support multiple VAT accounts for control and suspense
Can the VAT account be split into two, a method that Sage utilises?
A vat control account and a VAT suspense account.
The VAT suspense account will show the balance of the Dr or Cr of vat payable or owing from transactions included in the VAT return, this is where the Vat payments to/from HMRC are posted.
The VAT control account shows the balance of transactions where input/output VAT has been realised from invoices raised/received, but are not yet included in the VAT return typically because the the company is operating the VAT cash scheme.
These two accounts could be triggered when the VAT cash scheme is selected in the financial settings, and remain the same as it is now with the one VAT account when the accrual scheme is selected.

However, I would like to be able to see a list of all transactions not assigned to a project including spend money and receive money.

UK Payroll - Add pay element nominal codes to employees records rather than at Company level
As we don't have the ability to turn off automatic posting of payroll, can you add nominal codes for ER NI & ER Pension, other analysis fields to employees records rather than at Company level to allow easier analysis and posting of payroll journal.
There is a field on the employee record to enter the nominal code for their wages cost so why can't there be more fields for different codes?5 votes -
CIS - Amend CIS returns before submitting
It would be very useful to be able to amend CIS returns on Xero before final submission (as it is possible with VAT returns).
1 voteThank you for raising this idea about the ability to amend CIS returns before submitting them. As per HMRC requirements, the CIS deduction is an event that is legally tied to the cash transaction of a payment being made. Because of this, the final return is based on these completed cash transactions, and any changes must be made through HMRC's official amendment process. Therefore, the ability to edit the return before submission is outside of Xero's control as we must adhere to the strict requirements set by HMRC for the CIS scheme. While we understand this isn't the answer you were hoping for, we want to be transparent about why this is not something we can build. We will continue to explore any potential solutions that may align with HMRC's future requirements, but for now, we must follow their strict compliance rules ✨
