NZ Payroll - Payslip notes
Could we have the ability to add the amount paid to a Deduction.
(A staff member messaged me the other day asking if the $450 showing on his pay slip was the amount he had left to pay for tools deductions or the amount he had paid. After checking I saw it was the amount he had paid and he has $468.93 left to pay.)
Q: Is there any way to add the amount he has left to pay for tools to the pay slip.

New Invoicing | Send - Only show emails related to contact
I have noticed that when you are preparing to send an invoice via email in Xero that you can now add new addresses in the TO, CC and BCC lines. This is great.
However, I have noticed that ALL contacts are available to add here. It would be safer to only allow the contact email addresses associated with the contact name on the invoice. It is too easy to add the wrong address and potentially send invoice information to the wrong client.
If other people needed to do this, perhaps a tick box could be applied to allow ALL CONTACTS as visible instead of just the ones associated with the invoice.

Please bring back the ability to send a remittance to those companies that were paid.
Please bring back the ability to send a Remittance Advice to those companies that were paid.
2 votesHi Barbara, trying to better understand your idea as it's currently possible to send a remittance for bills paid. We have some help on how to do this in Xero Central.
Can you give a bit more detail of what you're in need of here?

Customer map, showing location pins for all customer addresses
Being able to see a map with the location pins for each customer and sort them by the various Xero groups, would be invaluable. This would enable us to easily visualise our national/global coverage to help better understand regional product usage. As a business that provides products to public locations, it would also be an efficient way to reference existing installations near to new enquiries for them to reference.
1 voteHi Luke, trying to better understand what you're envisioning here. Is there a specific place in Xero that you'd find a map like this most handy? For example would it be on an individuals contact record, within a Contact group or perhaps when you're using Smart lists?

Invoices/Bills - Feature to 'write off' as bad debt
At the moment, you need to raise a credit note to write off a bad debt, which then records the invoice as "paid" which is extremely irksome, and factually incorrect. There needs to be an actual "write off" option so that the debts don't show up constantly in your reports and you can claim a tax deduction for them, but they don't get recorded as paid.
695 votesHi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.
Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Invoicing - Ability to update branding in bulk
Be able to bulk-edit Branding themes, due dates, and Descriptions, assigning projects for invoices
4 votesHi Yumei, a few different bulk requests in the one here.
In terms of branding themes when you say you'd want to bulk update branding would this be detail within your branding themes, or the branding applied to invoices in Xero? If the latter, perhaps you'd find setting a default from your Contacts record a useful way to edit this?
We try to keep individual ideas separate so our product teams can get a good understanding of exactly is being asked, and others in community know what they're voting for.
You'll find existing ideas for some of your other points below, that you may like to join and vote for.

Account Watchlist - Display a custom budget on accounts watchlist
On the Account Watchlist in the Dashboard, I would like to display a custom budget that I created for 2024 in lieu of the default 'overall budget' that it shows. Please make this feature possible as it will provide a good, quick snapshot on how we're trending to budget w/out having to pull up reports. An alternative would be to tag a custom budget as the 'default' that would appear in the accounts watchlist. Regardless, let's make this happen! Thanks for considering.

Purchase orders - Add column to list view
An option to add a column (Received by) to PO menu.
This will display that an order was received form the menu rather than clicking in to each individual PO to fond out.1 vote -
Bills LIst View - Mark un-verified bills without a Due Date
Bills entered that are receipts/paid tax invoices (and accounts can't confirm they have been paid/what bank account they come from) should be able to be marked in awaiting payment with custom names instead of due dates.
Instead of picking a past date to clear them from awaiting payment their should be an option to store it as a 'receipt' or 'direct deposit' to ensure paid invoices etc. are not double paid.2 votes -
Invoice - Create a single receipt for multiple invoices
Send a single Receipt for multiple invoices which will help the customers who are expecting an annual Tax receipt for the payments made for the reporting financial year.

Customer Statement - Automated statements for contacts
This is really for Xero Blue not practice manager, but you do not have a category for this,
Automated client statements - have the option to send out our practice statements on a regular basis i.e. weekly or fortnightly regardless of the days due or overdue!
487 votesHi everyone, apologies we've not provided an update here before now. Over the past year there's been a lot of development throughout Sales, more centralised around the new invoicing experience. With the upgraded technology new invoicing is built on we've been able to begin developing the send experience, with improvements to customise and send invoices, and help you get paid faster.
Being able to automate the send of customer statements is high on our product teams radar, however we want to be transparent that this isn't planned in the short term. As we continue to develop and uplift throughout the Sales experience this is definitely an area the team will draw closer attention to, however with lots of different projects on the go we aren't able to bring focus to this right now.
I want to assure you we'll keep reviewing this idea, and will share as soon as there's any related progress.

Navigation - Add "new expense claim" to 'Create new' drop down
As above - in the drop down on the main screen that allows you to create new items, please add 'expense claim'

Expense Claims | To review - View files attached
Having an option to customize the details on the main "Expense Claims - To Review" screen (Business > Expense Claims) would be very helpful. A “detailed view” option, allowing key information to be seen at a glance, would streamline the approval process by reducing the need to open each individual claim. Specifically, seeing if an attachment has been added, with the ability to hover to expand it directly from the main screen, would significantly speed up reviews and approvals.

AU Payroll - Change the formatting of the Employee Summary Report file name
Since the latest Payroll update there seems to be no functionality in Xero to change how the name of the Employee Summary report appears when saved. There are too many _ between words, for example: JoeBloggsPtyLtd-PayrollEmployee_Summary 4 June 2024.
So frustrating. Bring back the old style PDF format.

Sales invoice - Option to add a new line between existing lines
Hi Community, we need to have the option to add a new line between the invoice instead to go to the bottom part of the invoice to create it, and then moving it where we need it, many times I need to add a line in a large invoice but to make it, I need to go down to the bottom part, add a blank new line and move it where I need. If we can just make right-click and add a new blank line where we need it, it will be easy to create or amend an invoice.
35 votesThanks for sharing, Jose. While not a complete solve for what you're asking here - atm, once you add a line you can then move this to wherever you'd like it to sit in the invoice.
Just drag & drop from the 6 dots in far left column ij the new invoice experience. 🙂

Xero Expenses - Email to create expenses
Xero Expenses - The ability (like with bills) to forward an email invoice to Xero and it to be automatically added to your Xero expenses app.
66 votesHi Lilly, with Xero expenses you can upload a copy of a receipt and have it auto capture the contents to create an expense through the app - See more on this here
Is there a reason you'd prefer to email receipts to your org over the existing method? Will help when sharing back with the team.

Log on - Go straight to Dashboard
I would like to be able to go straight to Dashboard please!
3 votesHi Milla, you can set up whether you're taken straight to the last organisation you logged into or if you're taken to your My Xero homepage. Or is it something a bit different you're referring to here?

AU Payroll - Change Super Payment Frequency from monthly to fortnightly en masse.
If I want to change the Payment Frequency for Superannuation from quarterly to monthly, I currently have to do it for each and every employee individually, A fair waste of time because there are many employees on the list to change, but I've done it. When it becomes mandatory in 2024 to pay all employees fortnightly, I'm hoping to be able to 'Select All' employees, and select to change the Payment Frequency' from Monthly to Fortnightly. Do you know if this has been discussed or is likely to become an option for us?

Invoicing - Payment link takes customer to Organization Name & Address that can differ from the Branding Theme
Recent changes have gutted our ability to operate under two distinct business names (Branding) under the same Xero account. Our Xero organization name and address is now included by default (and without the option to hide it) on Invoice emails and on Payment acceptance links. This was previously not the case.
This completely breaks branding for us, and I'm not quite sure why this change was made. What is the point of having branding at all of we can't control what organization details are provided to the customer? Support suggested I open another Xero account. That's not an option - we operate under a single set of books.
I've included screenshots of the issue. Fortunately Purchase Orders have not (yet) been affected by this issue. Invoice templates seem to be fine - but the payment links within them take the customer to a page that includes off-branding details. And the wrapper around the email template includes default organization details that we don't want.
This is a breaking change for us. Please upvote if you've also been frustrated by this change.

New invoicing - Warning when 'Invoice was unable to be sent'
Recently half of the emails I thought I had sent were 'unable to be sent'. I had no idea until I became worried why my usually reliable clients had not paid me on time. After looking I saw this message on the 'History' trail.
My suggestion is that where an error occurs like this there is a significant error message signal e.g. a box comes up or things are highlighted in red and bold.
Cashflow is the lifeblood of any business and if the system is unable to send an invoice this could have serious ramifications for Xero clients.
I suggest an urgent fix to this issue that created the problem in the first place and better highlighting of invoices 'not sent' due to system issues so this can be rectified ASAP.
Thanks for reading
