  1. Send or transfer files from the file library between organisations

We have multiple organisations and it is easy to get emails mixed up with files being sent to the wrong organisation. It would be super useful if files could be transferred from one organisation to another directly from the file library.

  2. For employees who use Xero My Payroll, if you are a Payroll Admin user, you can grant employees authority to approve leave. The option for Timesheet approval should also be there, it is available in other countries but not NZ.

  4. I already submitted and someone closed off my ticket incorrectly.

I want the ability to have a default template for INVOICES and a different default template for QUOTES.

Someone submitted this as already existing here https://central.xero.com/s/article/Set-default-invoice-quote-templates?userregion=true

But the default invoice template set for the contact will override the organisation’s default template when you add an invoice, quote, customer

  5. Would be great to be able to add an expected win date on a quote so that it can show in the short term cashflow (STC)feature. Would save adding it manually again via the Add incoming outgoing money feature option.
All the details are present just need to make it presented to the STC. If it's won then it changes status. If lost it's removed from the forecast.

  6. We pay our employees under the Electrical award which includes several compulsory 'All Purpose' allowances that are now reported separately as per STP2. Why are these allowances excluded from an employee's annual salary on their payslip? They used to be included as part of their base hourly rate - therefore included in their annual salary and as such, should still be included in 'annual salary'. Can you please have the option to 'include in annual salary' when setting up Allowance categories in the pay items?

  7. It would be good if you could go into 'Pay Employees' and next to the STP - Filed or not filed it would be good to have 'Payslips Emailed'. I have no way of checking / double checking if I have sent them.

  8. Currently payroll is only able to child support as a deduction.

In Australia, there is a protected amount that employee needs to earn before the deduction is taken out of their pay. There isn't a function that will allow this currently.

Payroll officers manually have to keep track of this and remove the deduction if protected amount is not reached. Small businesses with a few employees would be able to keep track but for the likes of a bigger business with more than 20+ employees, this would be a nightmare.

Thanks for your idea, Joe. To better understand the use case and maybe help others who'd be after the same connect with your idea here - Are there any scenarios or situations you generally find when viewing a contact and wanting to view the very next or last contact in a list?

  11. I would be good to be able to carry out data analysis of each nominal code and therefore group the account transactions by month with totals rather than by week which will ultimately tie back to the P&L. This would make it useful when carrying out data analysis from the P&L.

  12. In Repeating Transactions, you have a column width for Reference which is fairly decent, but then the data in that is truncated to the extreme. It takes up less than half the column width??????
Has it not occurred to your programmers to use the full width of the column and only suffix with ... if it still proves too small to display all the data

  13. Currently when accessing the Uncoded Statement Lines report, the last date of the prior month will appear in the To field. This is currently set as the default in Xero.

Be more helpful if the current date was entered as it is the current entries that are being queried. If everything is up to date there should few if any aged items left in the reconciliation report.

Thanks for the feedback, Richard. Can see where you're coming from and we'll get a sense of the overall interest from users on the thread here but want to be open that we don't have immediate plans for changing this.

To enable a little more swiftness when changing the date of this report you may find typing the letter 't' before clicking or tabbing through to the next field helpful - we have a few more date entry shortcuts you may like to explore, too.

  14. It would be productive to see if a contact is registered for CIS/verified and their status on the contact account page - where the group info is listed.
Otherwise the only way you can see this info is by clicking edit the contact. And include a signal/sign on the contacts page next to each CIS registered contact so that they can be identified easily.

  15. Xero has a gap in handling Fx gains/losses.
It is great at both Realised and Unrealised on bills and invoices but it drops the ball on Cash at Bank. It treats it all as Unrealised, which is where the flaw is.

You can have an empty currency bank account which has a residual functional currency balance and has movements on the TB every month due to revaluation. This is clearly nonsense.
I have also been told to ignore the exposure column on the Fx report as it is meaningless.

For Fx gains/losses Cash is a document in exactly the same…

  16. When entering dates, can you please bring back the mouse scrolling function, where you could scroll down to go to the next month.
Rather than now, we have to click the right button to go to next month.

  17. Please allow remittance advices to be sent to clients from a batch payment even if it contains an overpayment. There is something fundamentally wrong for there not to be an option for this. A batch payment of 100 invoices with an overpayment of 1 is not cause for there not being an option to send a remittance advice to my clients. I've had to search the page and manually extract it onto an excel file and then send to suppliers. Very time consuming especially if you make large batch payments for over 50 different suppliers.

  18. Can you please create the functionality to send the payslips to both the employees and the employers.

Currently payslips can only be sent to one email address when being sent by Xero. A second email address can't be added to an employee's record for payslips to be sent to.

It would be beneficial to be able to send them via Xero to both the employee and employer.

Hi everyone, an update to my earlier message:

This change was specific to users of the Australian payroll.

Apologies, and we'll shift this idea back to 'Submitted' so we can continue to track and share if there are developments in New Zealand Payroll.

However, at the moment this is not in the team's plans.

    • If you operate across multiple regions, and are interested in reading more, I've updated this idea. which is specific to AU.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  20. Hi all!

I'm a one man band IT business, and I've just started being put on retainer by a company which is great, however I'm finding accounting for the retainer to be a bit burdensome.

Currently, my plan is it add the retainer's ammount as a credit note at the beginning of the month, and then somehow nullify any remaining credit at the end. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to add a way of managing retainers separately and more efficiently from credit?

Or even just having the option to add an expiry date to a credit…

Great to hear how you're currently using Xero with Credit Notes to manage this process for yourself, Joseph. I've slightly amended your idea for being able to set an expiry for a credit note as it's quite unlikely that we'll look to create a completely new feature for managing retainers.

Having a quick look at some of the other ideas raised in community, it looks like some people maybe using SimPro as a means to manage these, alternatively you could explore apps in the ecosystem that may meet your needs. 🙂
