UK Payroll - Pay employees directly via Open Banking
With the advent of Open Banking, it would be great if when you submit the payroll, it could also utilise OB to physically make the payment to the employee also. This would help automate the whole payroll process.

AU Payroll: Automatically add approved expense claims to pay runs
Currently to reimburse employees for expenses you have to add them manually to each pay run for each employee, it would make sense for expenses that have been added using the expenses function to auto add to payroll each month to reduce work and to allow staff to be reimbursed quicker. this would also make the expenses function more worthwhile for the cost.
This would reduce stress for staff putting on employees as expenses that have been approved will automatically be added and marked as paid.

UK Payroll: Record send dates of pension eligibility letters
The Pensions Act 2008 requires all employers to enrol their eligible employees into an auto-enrolment compliant qualifying workplace pension scheme, if they are not already in one, and pay specified minimum contributions. At the moment there is no way to check if and when the letter was sent to the employer. As this is a point on our audit checklist for all our clients would it be possible to add a field showing the date when the letter was sent out to an employee or ideally add it to a pension report.

Quotes - Choice to show VAT information
Quotes need the ability to either show the VAT content or not. Depending on the type of business you are dealing with at the time i.e domestic or Commercial. Generally domestic clients want to know the total cost including tax (VAT) whereas on a Commerical clients are not bothered as it is generally assumed or stated plus VAT.

Contacts - Show transaction history report
To be able to see a proper transaction report of either outstanding or all transactions from the contact screen. All it gives you at the moment is a list of invoices and notes etc with no structure. If you could get a transaction history from that screen and an aged breakdown it would be really helpful, which you could download, without coming out of there and having to go to reports. It's so frustrating.

Xero Accounting app - Link to Google Drive to upload multiple pictures
I’d like to be able to use Google drive on the app and be able to share links to any given file.

Profit & Loss - Show breakdown of expenses & income by tracking category as rows
It would be extremely helpful to allow the user to show additional rows for certain expenditure and/or income items, broken down by tracking category. In our small business, we run 3 or 4 events per year, and we like to track box office and performer payments via tracking categories. We would then like to show these as rows rather than columns on our P&L reports.

Xero Search | Items - search more fields
Can the magnifying glass search for anything entered so you can see where an item has been entered before, at present it only searches the information in the reference box. Sage & Quickbooks already do this and its very helpful as a book keeper.
4 votesIs there a specific field of an item that you'd generally search for, Janie?
Being open, we don't intend to allow for the ability to search 'any field' that data can be entered in Xero.
However if you can be more detailed in the terms you're searching this maybe something other in community want to see too and we can share with the team who develop Search in Xero.

Xero Accounting app - Create delivery/service docket
We need to be able to create a service docket via the Mobile app so that service crew can create and issue a service/delivery docket to customers when they are out doing the service. The packing slip option is not available apparently and, besides, its not the right name for what we do.

It could be useful to export the chart of accounts with current and last financial year balances including zero balances to see which account codes are not in use. Helping to simplify chart of accounts.

Dashboard - Reminders for submission dates (payroll, tax CIS)
Allow businesses to adapt their Xero Dashboard with "Widgets" such as reminders of submission dates for next payroll run, CIS submission, VAT Return etc. Also show current outstanding values for net pay, CIS & PAYE/NIC payments, VAT payment/refund.
9 votesHi Sharon, a few ideas rolled in the one here. While appreciate the detail it would not be possible for the teams to work on these widgets at once.
It would be good to get a view of the interest in each.
I've adjust the title of your idea here to reflect your first idea on reminders. We have another for the ability to show tax on the dashboard you may like to join & support, and welcome to start any others for particular widgets you'd like to see so we can begin to get a sense of the interest in each. 🙂

VAT - Automatically calculate VAT using the Marginal Scheme
Ability to automatically calculate VAT using the marginal scheme.
Purpose: To easily show correct VAT amounts when VAT is only charged on the Margin between Purchase price and Selling Price.
57 votesHi everyone, thanks for your interest in this idea.
For now, I wanted to share that we're aware some users have the following process to record their transactions. The example uses a vehicle with a purchase price of £1500, and a sale price of £2000.
- Record the purchase of the vehicle on a purchase Bill for the full purchase price of £1500 with a tax rate of VAT Exempt. So the purchase is recorded in box 7 on the VAT return.
- Record the sale of the vehicle on an Invoice for the full £2000 - using the Tax Exclusive option, and then manually changing the VAT calculated to the required amount - £83.33 (i.e. 20% on the profit of £416.87 or 1/6 of £500) by clicking the small plus box above the Tax Rate.
This will mean that you only charge £83.33 VAT for the overall profit figure, and ensuring the correct amounts are reflected in boxes 1, 3, 5 and 6.
You could also create a custom invoice template to use with the invoices that hides the VAT detail. You'd need to insert the TaxInclusiveLineAmount field and remove the other Tax reference fields.

AU Payroll - Link deduction pay item to bank account
Please create a deduction for payroll that can be linked to a bank account. Currently deductions can only be managed via balance sheet and/or by adding reimbursement to enable it to be transferred via EFT. Quickbooks and some other payroll software have this ability and it makes life so much easier and clearer for the emlployee too.
