Branding - MergeField for name of the branding theme
Make available to the DocX template a field containing the Template Name, so that its easier to identify which DocX template is being used.
1 voteThanks for your feedback, Andrew and apologies it's taken a little to round back to you here. I see what you're saying and how a merge field would enable an optional for those that do v's don't want this shown 🙂
Being open we don't have any plans atm, so perhaps static text could help with things for now, however we'll get a feel of the interest here and let you know if there's any change planned.

Xero Accounting app - Order outstanding bills by due date
Please enable ordering of Outstanding bills by due date, not alphabetically.
Currently, if one wants to see bills ordered by due date one has to access the "Purchases" tab at the bottom of the screen, then hit "Bills" at the top of the screen. The "Outstanding bills" screen — accessed from the (default) Dashboard screen — displays bills ordered alphabetically and it should order them by due date, or at least make it user-selectable

Reports - Keep negative accounts under the same category on balance sheet
I've noticed when an account gets a negative balance (such as an asset) that the balance sheet moves it to liabilities. I also noticed that, although I put "Other Income" at the end of the account list (with a account number of 7000) it still shows up in the income section. Proper accounting reports show "Other Income" and "Other Expense" at the bottom of the balance sheet. Additionally, if an asset account gets a negative balance for some reason it should NOT be moved to liabilities. Please fix this.
Thank you

Sales Invoices - Reference field for each line item
It would be great if the Reference field was moved to the body of the sales invoice so that you could add item line referencing with the option to enable the referencing to print on the sales invoice.
For example, a plumbing business completes work for a customer that has multiple rental properties. If the reference field was in the body of the sales invoice, they could add the applicable property address here so that they and the customer could differentiate what work was completed at each property for the invoiced period.
Currently, you would have to invoice separately for each property or add a line item with only the description field completed for the property name.
A reference column would be much cleaner - with the option not to print (as with the current invoicing options).

Profit and Loss - Exported CSV to contain Account Transaction breakdown
Within the old Xero profit and loss report, there used to be a feature where you could add account transactions to a excel export of the profit and loss. The account transactions for a specific account would appear as a separate tab in the excel profit and loss export. Unfortunately, this feature seems to have been removed with in the new profit and loss. It would be great to see this feature reimplemented, as losing functionality of a report due to an upgrade is a shame.

Quotes - Add CIS
Be able to use CIS nominal codes on quotes so CIS is displayed
39 votesHi community, there was a brief window in which users were able to unintentionally code line items to CIS codes. However, there is more complexity in calculations for CIS and work that's needed to reflect this appropriately.
Thanks for starting an idea in this, we'll begin to track the appetite as a possibility for future work. -
Purchase orders - Ability to lock/stop editing once billed
Purchase orders should not be able to be edited after they have been billed (even part billed). It defeats the purpose of a purchase order.
We want staff to be able to issue purchase orders. Invoices are approved on those matching purchase orders. The same staff shouldn't be able to edit the original PO if it has been billed as then it doesn't match the invoice that's been paid/being paid.4 votes -

Reporting - Include invoices due today as Current in the Aged Receivables, not Overdue
In the aged receivable reports (summary and detail) Xero currently assigns any invoice that is due today to the "< 1 Month" column. But an invoice that is due today isn't yet overdue, so it should still be in the "Current" column.

Contacts - Allow Negative Discounts
Allow Negative Discounts to provide a basic Tiered Pricing Solution
There has been a huge amount of noise over the last 5+ years about Xero not supporting Tiered pricing. This can mean many things, but the most basic requirement is Customer Price Lists.
It can be as simple as allowing negative discounts in the Contact Record...a negative discount would increase the price instead of discounting it.
Every Item Currently has a default 'Sale Price'.
Allowing both a +ve or -ve 'Discount' in the contact record solves the basic tiered pricing issue. This is a very simple solution to creating a 'Price List' for each customer.
Even better, allow the user to create a 'Customer Group', and assign a Customer to 'a group'.
That way in Excel you can very quickly assign +ve or -ve discounts to each customer record. (Filter by Group/Assign the Discount +/- and re-import)
For example -
Customer Group A might get a 5% increase to the Default Sale price
Customer Group B might get a 10% discount to the Default Sale priceAllow Negative Discounts to provide a basic Tiered Pricing Solution

UK Payroll - Access to communal time off calendar for employees
UK Payroll- Access to a communal time off calendar for all employees.
As a smaller business we try to have one employee off at a time where possible- it would be hugely useful if they could access a shared leave calendar in the same place as they request leave & submit timesheets from. This would pull data from my admin overview calendar and stop me having to create external calendar in iOS and another in android which leads to missing data etc and wasted holiday requests. They could see if the leave they want is available prior to the request.29 votes -
Xero Files - Retain transaction attachments when removing files
When delete a file, do not automatically delete it from the linked transaction.
I have had a client delete many of their files from the file library, as she wanted to 'clean it up'. This has in turn deleted them from all the bills/spend money transactions etc and we now have lost access to all the source documents and will need to reenter them.
Even a warning that this would happen, would be better than just wiping everything.

Sales invoice - Separate status for when credit applied
In Xero a receivable invoice status is shown as paid whether it is actually paid or whether a credit note is applied to the invoice.
Can a new status be added to show when an invoice a credit note is applied, for example "Credited".
This will help identify actual payments received vs credit notes issued11 votes -
Assurance Dashboard - Add Reporting Functionality
The assurance dashboard has been around for a while and it's great to have a number of checks accessible in the same place. However, there doesn't appear to have been much development in this area i.e. we are still not able to export out reports from the Assurance Dashboard.
A client reached out today looking for an easy to run report showing bank account number changes. This is an important item to check on for businesses, particularly entities that have bank accounts loaded into Xero by multiple people, use batch payments etc. Accessing this information through the assurance dashboard is clunky, it shows that bank account numbers have been edited but takes a few clicks to get into the detail as to what was edited. I suggested the client use the 'history and notes' functionality, selecting contact as the item and searching for the keywords 'bank account number changed'. This pulled the detail on the bank account numbers changed ie. bank acct 03-1750 changed to 06-9250 (screenshot attached) but doesn't show the contact name, so further clicks are required to obtain this detail.
Recommendations:
1. Create reports for the assurance dashboard, particularly a standalone 'bank accounts that have been changed' report
2. Both the Assurance Dashboard and the History and Notes Areas do not allow data to be exported, in either pdf or excel. It would be great if this functionality could be added, perhaps as an interim measure until reporting is able to be developed under these areas.
3. Further development in both the Assurance Dashboard and History and Notes areas, to make these easier to use and to pull detailed data, without having to click through layers of summary dataThanks

12 votesHi everyone, appreciate the feedback on my last question. I've slightly amended the title of this idea. As a bit of an update from when I last posted we have actually made an update in History & Notes as I know some of you were interested in - You can now Export to PDF or Excel from this screen and you'll find there are filter options to help you zone into the items you're most interested in looking at.

Projects - Invoice multiple expenses on the same line
I want to be able to group/merge multiple expenses being on-billed into one line on an invoice, even if they're not a tracked expense.
For example, if a contracting company has billed for a fortnight of the contractor's work, but has separated that into two lines, each dealing with one week, on their bill, then the draft that is created when they e-invoice me will have two lines. When I assign these lines to a project and approve the bill, each line shows up as a separate expense to be on-billed. If I am on-billing the full fortnight, I would like to have the option to merge those into one line, just as I can if I am not using Projects but assigning the billable expenses to a customer directly.

Quotes - Add lead time to items
When quoting items, customers need to know when the quoted items would be available.
It could be that the item is available ex stock or that there is a lead time to the item of days, weeks or months.
This is a common occurrence in the industrial sector.
Each item on the quote could have a different lead time, whether it is an item or service that is quoted.
The information is important to the customer for operational, as well as cashflow purposes. M
Would be great if a feature could be added for each line item on the quote, or even some fields that the user can define in the template settings.
Thank you
