  1. The User access for Workpapers is very poor. I find that I need to give the Staff high access levels in order to allow them to create and complete workpapers. Rather than just having a very basic Standard and Admin level, the names and levels of access should reflect more the sort of work that staff will be involved in.     Hi Rebecca, thank you for this valuable feedback on user access in Workpapers.

    We can certainly see your point. The current 'Standard' and 'Admin' levels can be too broad, often requiring you to give staff higher access than necessary just to perform routine tasks like setting up a new workpaper file.

    Your suggestion to introduce more refined user roles that better reflect the actual work your staff are involved in is a great solution to improve both workflow and security.

  2. Workpapers Practice Staff Management is not integrated with XPM/HQ. User access should be manageable the XPM so that all Xero owned products Practice Staff access can be managed in one area. This would allow practices to control their staff in one place, rather than having to add and remove staff separately in the Workpapers App.

    We understand that having to manage staff access separately in Workpapers instead of in one central place like XPM or Xero HQ creates extra administrative work.   3. Clients using online software "Housecall Pro" are forced to stay with QBO due to its native integration with the software. Xero can adapt using Zapier, but who really wants to do that!

    Hi Marci, though we appreciate you sharing on Product Ideas I want to be open that we don't generally develop integrations with other applications ourselves. We have a great Developer Ecosystem Centre where interested parties can come to learn how to build an integration with Xero, and I'd recommend sharing with Housecall Pro to see if they would look to develop.

  4. When the transaction is reconciled to a Bill that's been uploaded from HubDoc in Xero, it should mark the document as Paid in HubDoc. (Google's AI-generated answer says that this happens, but it doesn't on my account). That way it would be much easier to see in HubDoc which items still aren't reconciled

    Specifically, if a document is
    1) published as "Purchased, Awaiting Payment", and published to Xero
    2) that bill is then reconciled to a transaction in Xero, so that bill is shown as Paid and linked to Hubdoc
    3) then when viewing the document in Hubdoc, "Mark as…

    We understand the workflow you're proposing: when a bill from Hubdoc is reconciled in Xero, its status should automatically sync back and be marked as 'Paid' in Hubdoc.

  5. It would be good if we could update client info changes such as change of address or bank account changes directly in Xero that would then update on the ATO Portal. Having used this in another accounting package, it is an extremely efficient process that make sure the client info is updated at both sites. Making these changes directly through the ATO portal gives no (or very little) audit trail.

    Hi Jo, thanks for sharing this great idea for improving practice efficiency. We understand how valuable a better audit trail and a more streamlined process would be for keeping client details up-to-date.

    We've reviewed your suggestion to have client information updated in XPM, such as addresses or bank details, sync directly with the ATO Portal. This idea is now ready to gain support from other community members.

  6. Currently, Xero only provides a generic “Additional Disclosure” box when preparing accounts in Xero Tax. However, there are many cases where specific disclosures are required, such as:

    • Guarantees and Other Financial Commitments

    • Going Concern

    It would be highly beneficial to have the ability to either:

    Select from a list of standard disclosure titles, or

    Create a new custom disclosure title, which is displayed in bold in the final report—making the disclosures clearer, more compliant, and professionally formatted.

    Benefits:
    Improves compliance with reporting requirements.

    Enhances the presentation and clarity of financial statements.

  8. Currently in Xero Tax, non-depreciable assets entered into the rental schedule do not roll forward into future income tax returns (ITRs), creating unnecessary manual data entry and inconsistency.

    Suggested improvement: Add support to roll forward non-depreciable assets (such as land) within the rental schedule when generating the next year’s return to maintain asset continuity and save time.

  9. Currently you cannot edit the DOB in a client record in XPM for individual clients you can only edit if you export the database and re import it. For GDPR reasons it is important that we can delete DOB when a client leaves the practice. Please make this field so it can be deleted if required

  10. Currently, when mapping the chart of accounts from your financial statements in Xero Blue to the tax return labels in XPM, you can only map to labels in the business schedule section of the return.

    This means that accounts relating to other tax labels, such as rental property schedules, or other deductions, must be noted as "do not import", and then entered manually.

    It would be great if there was the ability to map these accounts, in addition to those relating to the business schedule, as it would lead to further efficiency gains for accountants using Xero's suite of products.

  12. Returns Management User Interface (UI) - "All" Tab Improvements/Customization

    To improve handling returns by adding bulk selection and status update functionalities on the "All" tab of the Returns Management interface. Also, suggesting having a customizable UI to best fit our workflow preference.

Delete or archive draft Partnership returns in Xero Tax UK - if a draft is created in error it just stays on the dashboard, eventually showing as overdue and clogging up the dashboard's useful information. If full deletion is not an option, for audit purposes, then I'd like to at least be able to archive it and remove it from my dashboard view.

    We're thankful for you sharing the changes that could make using Xero Tax more impactful for you and your clients, Doina.

    As you've mentioned 2 separate reports I've split your idea so we can get an understanding of the community interest in each and keep you updated if there are any plans made.

    I've renamed this one specifically for a detailed Balance Sheet and you'll find another for a detailed Profit & Loss over here.

  15. It would be good to have more control of the error messages, and ability to dismiss these for specific clients. This would reduce noise for clients that you do not do VAT for.

  20. In the new staff experience, it's only possible to assign staff members the Advisor or None role for a Xero organisation. It would be good to have blue Xero organisation roles available to select so to give my staff the correct permission from within practice tools (HQ/XPM)
