  1. Clients on HQ
    It would be the perfect place to add all your clients, but I would recommend adding more Reporting fields like year ends, ID or company registration number, tax numbers, date of registration. And the Authorised shares a company have and the issued amount without adding the client to HQ.

    If all of this are there, please advise because we want to move our entire client information base to Xero to be viewed in one place.

  4. I have many clients with distributions from 'family trusts' as well as managed funds.
    In an individual return the details are entered or prefilled as required, but the worksheet for Item 13 Partnerships and Trusts doesn't include managed fund distribution amounts. This leads to much confusion when clients see the worksheet at Item 13 and the amounts don't match. In this case the worksheet for Item 13 needed to be added to a separate managed fund worksheet six page later - and this was a simple return.
    The worksheet at each question should show the amounts totalling the amounts reported.

  5. View salutation or an alternate name field
    As many clients are addressed by a different name other than their legal/birth name, it would be helpful to be able to view their salutation, or an alternate name, in the contact section of the client, without having to go into the contact to see this information.

  6. GST return - Finalised button is GREEN and so is the Filed button.
    It's really easy to miss if it didn't go through to IRD, they are both Green and start with F and when you are doing 40 odd it's all a bit routine.

  7. We have certain clients who are set up under a monthly retainer with all included tasks (scope) under the one job. We need a way to allocate and set milestones or due dates for certain staff at the task level of these jobs.

    The current milestones which can be implemented after a job template is in use has limited functionality as you can only set due dates from the start of the "job" not for each task as due.   8. Has anyone else experienced this in Xero Tax? Where you have an asset that is sold exactly 12 months after it was purchased, Xero Tax believes that you can use the CGT Discount Method. However the legislation indicatess that the asset must be owned for at least 1 year and 1 day before it becomes eligible to use the CGT Discount method.

  9. It would be great to be able to create and publish an invoice from Hubdoc and automatically add a new currency within Xero. This would increase efficiency and save from having to set up manually

  11. On Xero Tax, I would love to see a Button/Tick Box on the "Filed" page to only show the Tax Returns that were Lodged with the ATO that day.

  12. For the capital gain worksheet, it can't enter the number of the shares sold and bought. Most of time, the shares sold and bought will operate in different time during the year, it is more efficient to have the number shares match between sold and bought figures.

    And also can transfer the worksheet to another partner is they are 50%, reduce time to enter again.

    We understand that a single report for all invoices and receive money transactions, including key details like Quantity and Unit Price, would be a big help 🤔. We know it can be time-consuming to switch between different reports to get a full view of a contact’s activity. While this specific report isn't on our immediate development roadmap, we're always looking to improve Xero's reporting. For now, you can use the Contact Transactions Summary report for a quick overview or combine exported data from multiple reports into a spreadsheet. We'll keep monitoring this idea and use your votes and comments to help prioritise our future work.

  17. Why can't Xero automatically file signed returns once the client has signed the document? Should be a fairly simple update for Xero to manage automatic filing instead of a person having to tick all and click file. Has this ever been considered? Knowing the suspend date is used to hold back a lodgement.

    We understand you are interested in a return filing automatically with ATO once your client has signed the return.For now, the process remains that a partner needs to click 'File' in Xero Tax after the client has completed their e-signature. This is because the client-signing process happens through a Portal and not in Xero Tax,, and the final action of lodging the return is designed to be a deliberate, conscious step taken by the practice. We have no immediate plans to change this workflow. The current separation of the signing and filing steps is an intentional part of our design, ensuring the final lodgment is a secure and authorised action from the tax agent.

  18. Report Templates - notes (text blocks and schedules) to be minimised/collapsed when they are hidden instead of just greyed out so they don't take up as much space

  19. Xero Tax should have another Tab to View ALL NON Lodged.
    Right now you have to go to Draft, Completed, Approved, To Sign, To File - that's 5 tabs to see which returns and BAS are not yet lodged. All tab includes Filed. There needs to be a tab where you can view All Non Lodged excluding Filed.
