  1. When using Xero Practice Manager (XPM) for job management, it’s incredibly difficult to maintain visibility because there’s no audit trail or history log for key actions like:

    • When a job was created or reassigned
    • Who changed the job’s due date or status
    • When a job’s responsibility moved from one team member to another

    This lack of transparency makes it almost impossible to track accountability or performance accurately.

    Why is this so important?
    As a firm, we track job completion and lodgement performance, but without a history log, we can’t see whether a job was reassigned after the due date or…

  2. Trial balance with a column for Tracking Category. Currently I need to download each TB individually if I want it by tracking category, which is very time consuming and inefficient.

  3. Revamp of self employment schedule within personal tax. Currently no adjusted profit report to show how you have arrived at the self employment profit on the summary computation report. Also no boxes to enter capital allowances wdv bfwd and no percentage option either to calculate amounts for the year in question on xero tax so a lot of manual work needed to calculate amount claimed in year. Should be automated.

  4. Want to be able to post money received overpayment's to accounts payable.

    At the moment, if a supplier sends back money and we don't yet have the paperwork, to clear the bank rec we need to add as an overpayment (tight closing dates) However, as its money received it automatically gets posted to the sales ledger. It would be good to have the option to post to the payables ledger so this can be allocated here

  5. Allow to Edit the Tax Code on transactions without un-reconciling the already allocated Bank Payment or Receipt. This obviously must be limited so that the total amount still matches.

    This would be highly helpfull in particular cases were the tax information is received after the Invoice and Payment booking.

  6. Is there a plan in place to update the Edit Report layout to be more user friendly!
    In particular, it is clunky inserting tables and being able to edit like a simple word doc (bold, italic, line spacing etc.)
    Also being able to print off the reports in the 'edit' mode so you can see the expanded breakdown of the accordian would be very helpful to ensure that Notes match Statements of Financial Performance and Position (especially useful for our juniors who often can't work out where their subcodes are if there have been reporting changes)

    Hi! Thank you for sharing your idea here. This is an existing feature in Xero. When editing the report layout, you can use the PDF option on the top menu bar to generate a preview of the report. If you require further elaboration or are unable to find this option, please raise a case with our support team for personalised assistance. With regards to the remaining portion of making the user interface better, we have moved this idea to gaining support to gain more support from users who would like this feature implemented.

  7. We need a new report for suppliers that functions as a true detailed ledger with a running balance.

    The Problem: When we need to reconcile an account with a supplier, there is no single, clean report that shows a simple chronological history of all bills and payments. We can run a "Supplier Transaction Report," but it's often not in a simple, statement-style format that's easy to read or send to the supplier.

    We need the Accounts Payable equivalent of the "Detailed Ledger" statement that is also needed for customers.

    Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing this idea with us. We can see why this would be helpful for some users. Currently, Xero offers the Supplier bill activity report and the contacts Activity statement. While this information is available on the account transaction report,it is not available in a Statement format. We've moved this idea to Gaining support so that other users who want this idea implemented can vote for it as well. You may share this idea with your colleagues to get more traction!

  8. Hi Xero Team,

    We need a new customer statement format that functions as a "traditional" detailed ledger.

    The Problem: The current "Activity Statement" is focused on allocations. It shows which invoices are paid or unpaid and portion of payments made to the invoice, but it does not show the payment transactions themselves as separate line items.

    For example, if a customer makes one large payment of R5,000 to clear three invoices, the current statement splits this payment up as their parts to the invoice. The customer cannot see their R5,000 payment listed as a single transaction. This is confusing for…

    Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing this idea with us. We can see why this would be helpful for some users. Currently, Xero offers the Customer Invoice Activity and the Contacts "Activity statement" . While this information is available on the account transaction report, it is not available in a Statement format. We've moved this idea to Gaining support so that other users who want this idea implemented can vote for it as well. You may share this idea with your colleagues to get more traction!

  9. Would it be possible for Holding accounts to be set up as 'Bank' rather than 'Current Asset'. A number of my clients use holding accounts for Petty cash, cash drawer, Eftpos, Eway etc. I need to reconcile these accounts monthly and it takes me three tomes as long as it used to do in MYOB. I am reluctant to move any more of my clients to Xero while this is the situation. As it seems counter productive to move to a software that takes more time to reconcile. I know there is a work around with the transaction report exported…

  11. Xero have changed the files section and now there is inbox and then archive. All the previous folders clients have are now in the archive section. In order to file something in a folder they now need to move it to the archive section which as this shows all documents, they then have to find the document again and then tick it and use the move to button to move it to the chosen folder. Xero need to add the move to button to the inbox screen otherwise clients are having to do multiple clicks again to move the documents.…

    Hey Mandy, thanks for asking Anchal to raise this as an Idea for review. As Anchal and the Product team have conveyed this is being looked at currently (Balance Sheet addition to Partnership filings) and there will be updates as this progresses. The client address is not something we are looking at currently as it is not mandatory for HMRC or Companies House.

  13. In the Activity Statement screen, in the transaction detail, the contact column should be in there so we can sort per contact and analyze the contact's gst application consistency. This is very beneficial in terms of reviewer task.

  14. When XPM search finds a client, you can click the arrow > to the right of a result to view the client's name, basic contact details, enter time, etc. For clients that have a linked Xero file, it would be great to be able to click "Go to Xero" from here as well.

  15. Please can you make it possible to add manual transactions to the "tax statement" that will show up in the tax return.

    We often did this with MYOB, eg. adding a penalty that we know will be charged after the tax return has been filed, or changing a late filing penalty from $50 to $250 if the client's income is more than $100k (as this will be updated at IRD after the return is filed).

    At the moment it looks like we can only edit the pdf which is very disappointing...

    Thanks for adding this request to our Ideas Kathryn. We have looked at this with current NZ Tax compliance in mind and for transparency this is not something we are looking into at this time. We appreciate it is something others may see as beneficial so other users are able to vote in this.

  16. Suggested improvements to Receivable Invoice Detail - Top Customers report.

    The definition of this report is attached. It provides a list of sales invoices and credit notes by contact.

    If a customer has an overpayment on their account, the report incorrectly treats this cash payment as a sales credit note and reduces the customer's sales figure by the overpayment. Please can this report be corrected to only include sales invoices and sales credit notes? Thank you.

  18. NZ Tax 50/50 split to automatically prevent INC return from filing before P1 date. When selecting 50/50 split in the XPM Statements area, the INC return automatically drops all P1 payment details from the Income Tax payment schedule. It also suppresses the P1 tax notice from XPM Payments area.

    Can it also stop the filing of the Income Tax return until after the P1 due date, or put a warning in the Audit Check that 50/50 has been selected and the filing date is not set.

    Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your thoughts on NZ Tax filing controls. It’s really helpful to hear how automatic filing prevention could support your 50/50 split workflows.

    At the moment, Xero Tax doesn’t automatically hold returns before P1, so timing still needs to be managed manually. Some practices choose to set a future Tax Return File Date in XPM, which delays filing until the date they’ve chosen, though we know this won’t suit every setup.

    We’ve moved this idea to Gaining support, and it’s now open for the wider community to join the conversation. If you’re open to it, adding a little more detail about your workflow could help others see where this makes a difference.

    For anyone else following along, we’d love to hear your experiences too. The more perspectives we gather, the better we can understand the need. Looking forward to seeing the discussion grow.

  19. Box 29 of the IR10 should match the taxable income per the main income tax return (IR3, IR4, IR6, IR7, etc).

    It would be helpful if when running an audit check on a tax return, XPM checks to see whether they match and notifies us when it does not match.

  20. When doing the year end processes, an accountant should be able to unlock the period for their log in only ie 'unlock for me only' as if the client or others have the same user access, they can change the accounts while we are working.
