  2. We have a few jobs in the system for a client that was very complex and we have since disengaged. We want to write off all of the time but we do not want any team member to have their write ons/offs affected by these jobs, as the nature of them was incredibly complex and this was due to the way the client prepared and sent the information to us, and not the fault of any of our team members.

  3. The ability to set up a repeating customer prepayment. We have customers who pay on account every month. We then create an invoice at the end of a billing period (Quarterly, annually etc) and then use their prepayments against the invoice. It would be useful to automate the prepayment creation so that we can reconcile the payment made by the customer to their prepayment. Creating the multiple prepayment forms every single month for all of our clients is tedious.

    Hi Reuben, thanks for the detail in your idea here - It sounds like you're currently manually creating the prepayment in Xero and then manually reconciling this once it's received in your bank account?

    Though not a repeat prepayment feature like you're asking however you could create the transaction right when you're reconciling - From the Create option in the Reconcile screen click Add details which will open the modal. Here you can click the drop down on the Received as and change this from Direct Payment to Prepayment.

    Totally get this doesn't automate the creation of the transaction completely, however could help save a few steps each month. LMK if this helps 🙂

  5. I have many clients with distributions from 'family trusts' as well as managed funds.
    In an individual return the details are entered or prefilled as required, but the worksheet for Item 13 Partnerships and Trusts doesn't include managed fund distribution amounts. This leads to much confusion when clients see the worksheet at Item 13 and the amounts don't match. In this case the worksheet for Item 13 needed to be added to a separate managed fund worksheet six page later - and this was a simple return.
    The worksheet at each question should show the amounts totalling the amounts reported.

  6. View salutation or an alternate name field
    As many clients are addressed by a different name other than their legal/birth name, it would be helpful to be able to view their salutation, or an alternate name, in the contact section of the client, without having to go into the contact to see this information.

  7. We have certain clients who are set up under a monthly retainer with all included tasks (scope) under the one job. We need a way to allocate and set milestones or due dates for certain staff at the task level of these jobs.

    The current milestones which can be implemented after a job template is in use has limited functionality as you can only set due dates from the start of the "job" not for each task as due.   8. Has anyone else experienced this in Xero Tax? Where you have an asset that is sold exactly 12 months after it was purchased, Xero Tax believes that you can use the CGT Discount Method. However the legislation indicatess that the asset must be owned for at least 1 year and 1 day before it becomes eligible to use the CGT Discount method.

  10. For the capital gain worksheet, it can't enter the number of the shares sold and bought. Most of time, the shares sold and bought will operate in different time during the year, it is more efficient to have the number shares match between sold and bought figures.

    And also can transfer the worksheet to another partner is they are 50%, reduce time to enter again.

    Hi all, we can see how improving the capital gains worksheet in Xero Tax could really streamline things.

    At the moment, there's no way to enter the number of shares bought and sold separately, even though these often happen at different times. Being able to match share quantities across transactions would make reporting more accurate and reduce manual checking.

    We've also heard similar feedback around shared ownership. A suggestion to allow copying or transferring the worksheet to another return has already been raised and is gaining support. We've added your vote to that idea to help show how useful it would be.

    Hi everyone, thanks for raising this idea. We know rental income and expenses are a key part of tax for many businesses, and it would be super helpful to have a rental property schedule within the Company Tax Return (CTR) in Xero Tax.

    At the moment, there aren’t any rental worksheets for companies in Xero Tax, because the ATO doesn’t accept rental schedules on a CTR through PLS. That means this part of the return needs to be managed outside the system — which we understand isn’t ideal.

    That said, we can see this idea is already getting some traction, and it's now in the Gaining Support stage. If this would improve your workflow, feel free to vote or add a comment. It really helps the team understand what matters most to you.

    Hi Martin, thanks for sharing this idea! We totally get how useful it would be to have a dedicated report for prepayments and miscellaneous invoices in Xero Practice Manager. It could save time, cut down on errors, and make reporting a lot easier.

    Right now, there’s no built-in option for this, and we know the manual workarounds aren't ideal.

    We understand that a single report for all invoices and receive money transactions, including key details like Quantity and Unit Price, would be a big help 🤔. We know it can be time-consuming to switch between different reports to get a full view of a contact’s activity. While this specific report isn't on our immediate development roadmap, we're always looking to improve Xero's reporting. For now, you can use the Contact Transactions Summary report for a quick overview or combine exported data from multiple reports into a spreadsheet. We'll keep monitoring this idea and use your votes and comments to help prioritise our future work.

  15. Why can't Xero automatically file signed returns once the client has signed the document? Should be a fairly simple update for Xero to manage automatic filing instead of a person having to tick all and click file. Has this ever been considered? Knowing the suspend date is used to hold back a lodgement.

    We understand you are interested in a return filing automatically with ATO once your client has signed the return.For now, the process remains that a partner needs to click 'File' in Xero Tax after the client has completed their e-signature. This is because the client-signing process happens through a Portal and not in Xero Tax,, and the final action of lodging the return is designed to be a deliberate, conscious step taken by the practice. We have no immediate plans to change this workflow. The current separation of the signing and filing steps is an intentional part of our design, ensuring the final lodgment is a secure and authorised action from the tax agent.

  17. Xero Tax should have another Tab to View ALL NON Lodged.
    Right now you have to go to Draft, Completed, Approved, To Sign, To File - that's 5 tabs to see which returns and BAS are not yet lodged. All tab includes Filed. There needs to be a tab where you can view All Non Lodged excluding Filed.

  19. Any taxpayer can only have one ABN.
    Why does Xero leave P5 blank when it could put the ABN (which is already in the client record) into P5 for me?
    If you're worried about there sometimes being an ABN in the client record but there being no business that year and it needing to be blank.. then make it work the same as when I rollover from a prior period - last year's fields are rolled over but I can delete them if need be.
