  1. Hi,
In tax returns for clients that have a business schedule in their ITR, when an asset is fully depreciated, in the following year it disappears from the tax return and depreciation schedule altogether.

Is there a way assets can remain on the depreciation schedule? It is very handy to have a full depreciation schedule for all assets, particularly if clients sell assets in the following years.

    Thank you

  2. It would be useful if in the Tax Statements reporting data set, we could also see GST statement data (currently only Income Tax and SLS show) so that we can check for unpaid GST balances.

  3. It would be hugely helpful if we could add rules under supplier settings in hubdoc much like the bank rules in Xero. E.G. Client has a home office and I want to split the electricity bill 33% to Power and 67% to Drawings. Number 1 - I won't have to try and remember what the percentage for each client is as they vary and number 2 - I would be able to use the automated function to Publish to Xero.

  4. The format of the 2023 IR 3 return does not appear to allow for a nil amount of FIF income. When nil is entered (which will be the case when the CV method produces loss), an error arises. The disclosure of FIF income (even if nil) may be important for statute barring purposes and will also avoid subsequent queries from IR (once exchange on information between countries lands on IR desks) on why a taxpayer may not disclosed offshore dividend income (where those dividends arose from FIF investments). The suggested fix of amending or notifying through MyIR seems to defeat…

Hi community, though we appreciate your feedback here there are limitations on what combinations of data can be submitted via gateway services and these are set by IR and Xero tax must conform to these rules.

We'd recommend contacting your IR account manager on the best way to file this return data.

  5. When preparing the second and subsequent years filings in xero tax for accounts and taxation, bring forward the settings, notes, tagging, engagement letter dates into the next year to save re-entering it all again

  6. For deceased individual clients, the period end date for their final tax return needs to be changed to their date of death. The tax return should not still be reporting the entire financial year.

There is a cell where we are able to input client date of death.

Recommending for product team to code this update so the period end date of these individual tax returns are also updated to reflect the Date of death.

Hi everyone, while we appreciate you raising the idea for this here, we want to be upfront that this is not something we're looking to develop.

For electronic lodgment, the ATO's requirements to report the whole year with data of death as an extra field. There are validations and calculations that use this date. This is different to paper lodgment.

As this is the case, we will not make the end date editable.

  7. It would be great to be able to move timesheet entries between tasks/jobs from within a draft invoice.

Currently if an employee has allocated time to incorrect job or task, it appears the only way to correct this is to delete the invoice, open the job, move the timesheet entry and then create a new draft invoice.

    Thank you

  8. I have moved to Xero Tax from Reckon Elite, but just realised that Xero Tax does not have a Notification of formation of consolidated group schedule.

As a tax agent, it is crucial to have this schedule to update client's consolidation status, including updating joining/leaving subsidiaries.

It would be great if this can be added as quickly as possible.

  9. This is to do with Custom Reports and should be little effort for a good result.

I note that after discussions with Xero the [Tax Return AU] Not Started Returns field is only available in the Client Returns report. It would be great to have [Tax Return AU] Not Started Returns in the Tax Return report area so you could generate a report on which returns have been started, in addition to the current status of the ones that have been started (ie Draft, Complete, Lodged) at the moment we can only see if a tax return has been created…

  11. When uploading a set of annual accounts to Xero Sign, the only option available is to add a signature field.

For company and trust annual accounts, we typically also include a minute and sometimes other resolutions (created from a Xero report pack). It would be great to able to insert a date field in the minute, like you can with other e-signing platforms.

The current workaround is to use another e-signing service to send the annual accounts, and use Xero Sign for the tax returns - which adds confusion for our clients and we're often having to chase them up…

  14. We have the AS' downloaded from ATO automatically and this creates a new job for every AS. We then need to add an AS task to every job individually.

Would be great to be able to add task/s to multiple jobs in one go - similar to how you can assign staff/manager to multiple jobs in one go.

  15. Current: Signatory name and email address for Document Packs are manually typed in (once per pack).

Issue: Manual input is repetitive, error prone, and requires switching tabs.

Request: These details usually exist in Xero HQ already, so I'd like to be able to select my signatory from this list.

Potential future features enabled by this:
When a signatory is selected this way, other signatories could be pre-populated in the one-click right-bar based on whether they've been in the same group of signatories in a previous Document Pack.
History of Document Packs attributed to each Xero HQ record.

Hello Trang, you can tag multiple documents at once by holding ctrl/cmd on your keyboard. Note that you'll need to create the tag first before you can do this - Read more on our article for more information.

Because Hubdoc can't bulk update the documents to be "Mark as paid" right now, I've changed the title of your idea, so we can see the interest from the community here :)

  18. When the transaction is reconciled to a Bill that's been uploaded from HubDoc in Xero, it should mark the document as Paid in HubDoc. (Google's AI-generated answer says that this happens, but it doesn't on my account). That way it would be much easier to see in HubDoc which items still aren't reconciled

    Specifically, if a document is
    1) published as "Purchased, Awaiting Payment", and published to Xero
    2) that bill is then reconciled to a transaction in Xero, so that bill is shown as Paid and linked to Hubdoc
    3) then when viewing the document in Hubdoc, "Mark as…

Hi Mark, thanks for this excellent and clearly detailed suggestion.

We understand the workflow you're proposing: when a bill from Hubdoc is reconciled in Xero, its status should automatically sync back and be marked as 'Paid' in Hubdoc.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you.

We've reviewed your idea for the 'Paid' status to sync from Xero back to Hubdoc, and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how this two-way sync would improve their experience.

  19. Would like the ability to see Write-ons / Write-offs on the Invoices dashboard for Draft invoices to allow easier review of drafts.

Alternatively some form of reporting that takes draft invoices into account vs billable time to see 'draft write-ons/offs'.

  20. We've just found out to our horror that we lose access to ALL Xero historic accounts and tax filings prepared and submitted through Xero Tax for a client if the Xero sub is cancelled.
Apparently this is because Xero needs to maintain access to the live data even for filed returns. Therefore, there has to be a process where ALL accounts and tax comps must be downloaded and stored elsewhere each year. We think that's crazy and that all filed returns should be stored in Xero Tax as PDFs. If nothing else, there should be a flag warning us! This…

Hi everyone, appreciate raising this with us.

Our product team has confirmed that these records are not deleted when an organisation is deleted, but they're moved into a hidden state. We're looking into how we can improve the storing of these within Xero HQ in future. If you need help with this in the meantime please contact our Xero support team via Xero Central.
