  3. I have many clients with distributions from 'family trusts' as well as managed funds.
    In an individual return the details are entered or prefilled as required, but the worksheet for Item 13 Partnerships and Trusts doesn't include managed fund distribution amounts. This leads to much confusion when clients see the worksheet at Item 13 and the amounts don't match. In this case the worksheet for Item 13 needed to be added to a separate managed fund worksheet six page later - and this was a simple return.
    The worksheet at each question should show the amounts totalling the amounts reported.

  4. Has anyone else experienced this in Xero Tax? Where you have an asset that is sold exactly 12 months after it was purchased, Xero Tax believes that you can use the CGT Discount Method. However the legislation indicatess that the asset must be owned for at least 1 year and 1 day before it becomes eligible to use the CGT Discount method.

  5. Why can't Xero automatically file signed returns once the client has signed the document? Should be a fairly simple update for Xero to manage automatic filing instead of a person having to tick all and click file. Has this ever been considered? Knowing the suspend date is used to hold back a lodgement.

    We understand you are interested in a return filing automatically with ATO once your client has signed the return.For now, the process remains that a partner needs to click 'File' in Xero Tax after the client has completed their e-signature. This is because the client-signing process happens through a Portal and not in Xero Tax,, and the final action of lodging the return is designed to be a deliberate, conscious step taken by the practice. We have no immediate plans to change this workflow. The current separation of the signing and filing steps is an intentional part of our design, ensuring the final lodgment is a secure and authorised action from the tax agent.

  6. From the initial client view, there should be a number next to the Notes section, to show that there are notes to look at (as there are for invoices, jobs etc)

  7. It would be beneficial for a warning to show to complete label 13U tax losses to be carried forward and/or when a losses schedule is required in a Trust or Company tax return when there has been a tax loss for the current year. This would reduce the risk that this label is inadvertently omitted.

    Appreciate you raising this idea about tracking time on returns within Xero Tax, Neil. It’s something that can make a difference for teams trying to manage capacity or reflect on the actual effort behind each return.

    This idea is now sitting in the gaining support stage, which means it’s open for others in the community to engage with. As more votes and comments come through, it helps the product team see where this functionality might be most impactful and what specific outcomes users are looking for.

    If there’s a particular reporting format, integration, or manual workaround you’re currently using to track this, sharing that in the comments could be really helpful. It adds valuable context and helps show how this could tie into existing practice workflows.


  9. Within XPM there are fields for individuals in the Tax section of Client with UTR and National Insurance number. It is not possible to import and upload to them, this would be useful as they then link to Xero Tax when filing a tax return. Currently we have them stored in a custom field as these weren't available originally. It would be good to be able to import all of our custom fields to the system's UTR and NINO fields.

It’s clear that the ability to import Unique Taxpayer References (UTR) and National Insurance Numbers (NINO) is important to you, and we hear the pain points about the extra manual work involved in not having this feature. A possible workaround is using a custom field for now, which can help keep this data within Xero Practice Manager. ⭐I wanted to provide an update on this. At Xerocon, we announced new developments for Xero Practice Manager and Xero HQ that are designed to improve efficiency and help you manage clients more effectively. While I can't promise a specific timeline or confirm that this exact feature will be included, we believe these enhancements will help streamline many of the workflows you’ve highlighted.   10. When making distributions to beneficiaries, we are able to distribute more than the income type recorded i.e. if there is $1,000 of interest income you can distribute $10,000 of interest income to a beneficiary if there are other types of income and it doesn't put the total at keypoint 21B in the return to a negative figure. It would be helpful if the over distribution of interest was picked up by the audit check.

  11. Be able to expand or reduce the size of a column in the depreciation schedule.
    We are finding when we add extra columns it is making the depreciation method column really large and you cant adjust it. Making the page stretched across longer that it needs to be.

    After some testing, we discovered that downloading the file in Excel or Google Sheets format and then saving it as a PDF reduces the column size. While this may not be ideal, it can serve as a temporary workaround.

  12. I’m reaching out to request assistance regarding a feature enhancement for Xero Practice Manager (XPM). Currently, XPM allows invoices to be pushed seamlessly to Xero Accounting (blue), which is incredibly helpful. However, I’ve noticed that proposals and estimates created in XPM cannot be pushed to Xero Accounting in the same way.

    I would like to request that XPM be enhanced to support the ability to push proposals and estimates directly to Xero Accounting.     Can understand why you'd like to enhance the sync of information and save time in adding these manually in Xero blue.

    Not something we have immediate plans of but we'll start collecting community interest for this through your idea and update if there are any plans made.

  13. Option for 'Other allowable expenses' in the tax comp to allow the depreciation on assets purchased as a finance lease as capital allowances are not reclaimable but depreciation can be deducted.

  14. Currently Quotes are not able to be sent directly for e-sign acceptance (i.e. clients will need to print physical copy of quote, sign and email back unless they have access to adobe sign). It would be an improvement if quote can be sent to Xero Sign for signing and audit trail. Alternatively, it would also be great if clients can accept/decline from the quote email.

  16. Could it be possible to create a video to explain about the particular features of the Xero function in their respective page? I am trying to better understand visually on how to navigate and use a particular feature within Xero.

    If not at the very least, link me back to the lesson where I can get on the feature in the Xero Advisor course? It would be helpful for me to revisit the topic.

  17. Being able to link several jobs with the one invoice raised in Xero blue. When issuing through Practice Ignition, it only allows you to allocate to one invoice in XPM. Moving the timesheets is clunky and inaccurate

  18. When you go into a client and enter the jobs tab, there is no job for that client even though they are part of the group that there is a job for and that client is included within that job. The job only shows for the single client where the job is created.

    The jobs tab already includes sections for active jobs and archived jobs. It should also show a section for jobs assigned to other clients within its group.

  19. In many accounting software platforms, the established workflow for onboarding a new individual client and preparing their Income Tax Return leverages ATO pre-fill data efficiently.

    This process typically involves:

    • Adding the new client to the ATO portal.

  20. Client Merge popup box needs to be expandable. It wants me to select which client that will merge into from the other (which is irreversible) but I can't expand the popup screen or hover over the fields to see what is written in full to know which one to select.
