Tax Manager NZ - Use of Money Calculation
We have found that there is a difference in the use of money calculation (UOMI) in an income tax return in XPM and what is expected by NZ IRD.
We sent this as a case to Xero and we received feedback advising that the XPM UOMI calculation is simpler than IRD's and that we should rely on IRD's more precise calculation. However, when an income tax return is filed very close to the final filing date and IRD take more than a week to process it we are solely relying on the UOMI calculation in XPM to advise the client of the amount due by the terminal tax date.
As we are reliant on the UOMI calculation in XPM it should match what IRD are expecting.
Thanks for raising this and for explaining the difference between XPM and IRD’s UOMI calculation. We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can understand how broadly this issue is affecting customers and gather more votes and feedback. This status change doesn’t mean the feature is currently in development, but continued support will help inform future prioritisation.
