Workpapers - Ability to mark Note (e.g. Client Query, Review Point) as resolved

Workpapers - Delete / Reset workpaper
it seems that it is not possible to delete or reset a workpaper. For example, I created a workpaper pack for a reacl client to test. I since updated the templates, and want to reset/delete/recreate the workpaper so its i the updated format. I've messaged Xero support and they have advised this isn't possible. This means I'm not stuck and cant use this workpaper for this client. They suggested I leave a comment here.
41 votesHi Gareth, appreciate your feedback on new Xero Workpapers here. Atm, you can refresh the pack after making template changes for them to pull through.
It'd be good to get more understanding of the scenarios in which you'd like to delete packs - For example when or why you'd want to delete packs and the sort of users you'd want to allow to delete packs to help us better assess your idea here. Thanks!

Workpapers - BAS Workpapers option
Automatic ATO BAS data extraction.
Will Xero be building the GST workpaper by extracting ATO BAS/IAS lodgments into the workpaper. Building the GST reconciliation manually with lodged data is time consuming. The data is there on the Portal, surely it can be dragged into the GST reconciliation workpaper automatically. This would save sooo much time. I know of firms investing heavily into robotics to solve this problem.
22 votesThanks for your idea on BAS workpapers being something you would like to see in our future roadmap! Your suggestion is gaining support and aligns with our focus on continuous development. We appreciate feedback and ideas like yours help us shape improvements that benefit both our teams and customers. Please keep sharing your feedback and encourage others to add their support!

New Workpapers - Individual tax return
Is there any plan to do a workpaper pack for individual tax returns, linking to the tax return?
20 votesHi Chris, apologies as returning to your idea here and checking in with our product team I can confirm it is not currently possible to create Workpaper packs for individuals unless they have a Xero subscription.
This is something our team intend to look into longer term, and I'll be keep you updated of any progress surrounding this here. Thanks

New Workpapers - Create our own workpaper
The ability to create and edit our own workpaper to add to the pack (like what we could do in the old workpapers)

New Workpapers - Dividends. 7A Loans feature
If the purpose of new work paper is for seamless compliance, should it not have the following feature:
- Div. 7A Loans
All these features are available in the old/classic work paper.
45 votesHi everyone, and thank you for your feedback on this feature Idea in the New Xero Workpapers. We have reviewed this are moving this to Gaining Support so others can vote and comment on this. The Product team will continue to monitor this and other feature Ideas and feedback on the new Workpapers and we will post an updates here.

Workpapers - icons like Notes/Client Query are too small and colours too inconspicuous
Aside from the fact that they are now miles apart, separated by a massive and unnecessary white wall of nothing.. the icons are too small (relative to the space available) and inconspicuous.
Compare a Query on old workpapers to a Note on new workpapers.
The old flag stands out like a sore thumb (as it should, it's a flag for a reason). Colour/contrast.
The new note has changed the outline of the icon from black to light blue, coloured in the number blue (like the blue circle next to every account).
This is not helpful.
13 votesThanks for sharing your idea and the examples of the flag icon size differences. We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!
Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

Workpapers - if we're going to be splitting up the P&L accounts.. EXP.DIS accounts should not be on the Expenses workpaper
Profit distribution accounts might have an EXP in the report code (and Xero might force us to use Expenses as the account type in Xero).. but they're not expenses.
Xero has split Revenue, COGS and Expenses across three workpapers.. but still lumped profit distribution accounts in Expenses.

Workpapers - I don't need a whole other workpaper for one account (Wages)
It's bad enough having 3 workpapers for the profit and loss... I can't change where any of the accounts go and now Wages (1 account) is split off into its own 😅

Workpapers - fix the buttons on the Note popup dialogue box
The buttons on the Note popup dialogue box are silly as.
Most dialogue boxes have actions on the bottom right. If a negative action (cancel/close), it would be to the left of the main action.
Add note button is middle left and miles from the bottom right.
Bottom right is the Close button. Close button is also highlighted blue, rather than white.
To point out how ridiculous this is.. as I am typing this idea, to the bottom right of the text box are two buttons, Cancel (white) on the left, and Post idea (blue) on the right...

Workpapers - Lock Down Preparers from editing Completed Workpapers
Currently when an individual set of workpapers are marked as Completed, they can be then changed by a Preparer without it alerting the reviewer that the Workpaper is now not reviewed for that change.
Once a workpaper is marked as completed, if any change occurs after this, it should be changed to In Progress immediately automatically (similar to how it changes from Not Started to In Progress). This would prevent that Workpaper from being changed without the reviewer being alerted.
I would have deep concerns about knowing all Workpaper integrity has been maintained without this feature or a feature like…

Workpapers - make ability to link documents/URLs to every line of Income Tax workpaper
There is no ability to link documents/URLs to lines on the Income Tax workpaper.
We need that ability so we aren't scrolling down looking for the supporting documents...
It's so obvious.
6 votesHi Sam, thanks for sharing your thoughts on adding document linking to Income Tax workpapers.
We’ve taken a look and moved your idea into Gaining support, so it’s now open for others in the community to vote on and weigh in. If you’re able to share a bit more about how you’d use this, it could really help others see the value - and give the product team a clearer picture too.
We’ll keep you updated as things progress.

Workpapers - Fix Income Tax workpaper that incorrectly shows current year June PAYG installment
Despite the fact I raised this years ago, it was ignored when building the new Workpapers (ironically, this workpaper is one of the few that mimics the original Workpapers layout).
The Income Tax workpaper (attached):
a. correctly shows 4 x current year PAYG Instalments in the 2025 Tax to pay/(refund) section
b. correctly shows the prior year June PAYG Instalment in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section
c. incorrectly automatically includes the current year June PAYG Instalment (copied from the section above), in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section99.99% of the time, the prior year June…

Workpapers - don't calculate Tax on taxable income, when income is nil or it is a loss
Workpapers by default calculates negative tax when there is a loss. This is wrong.

Workpapers - don't use decimals for fields Taxable Income and above. The tax return does not allow decimals, the workpaper shouldn't either.
The tax return doesn't allow for decimals.
When people use decimals on an income tax rec (before/up to taxable income), we end up with rounding issues and incorrect tax expense calculation.
Taxable income must be a round number, all of the inputs into the tax return to calculate taxable income must also be a round number, therefore it makes most sense to make the workpaper only allow round numbers (up until the point decimals are allowed in the tax return, which is when the tax expense is calculated).

Workpapers - Income Tax should never default to NA Not Applicable. Franking Credits should never default to Not Started for Trusts.
I started a Workpaper pack for a Trust.
Workpapers defaulted the statuses of the following workpapers:
- Income Tax: NA Not Applicable
- Franking Credits: Not StartedThis is silly. Income Tax applies to every entity.. Franking Credits only apply to companies.

Workpapers | Manual Journals - don't automatically mark as Cash Basis
Journals (General Journals, Manual Journals) are inherently an ACCRUALS transaction. Not cash.
Manual Journals can't be recorded against a bank account in Xero.
Manual Journals should NOT be Cash Basis by default. They should be Accruals ONLY, by default. Xero should give you the OPTION to include your Manual Journals on cash based reports.
7 votesHi team, appreciate this idea is specifically around how you can process Manual Journals within new Xero Workpapers.
Right now the selection of whether to show a journal on cash basis reports is only available when posting Manual journals within an organisation at present.
Our product team are still making improvements within the new Workpapers experience and using feedback from the forums here to inform their roadmap.
This isn't planned at present, but I'll be sure to let you know if there are any plans made around enabling this selection within our new Xero Workpapers solution, here.

Workpapers - Manual Journals - don't require a description (Manual Journals in Blue Xero don't)
Xero doesn't require a description for every line of a Manual Journal. Workpapers should be the same.
It also doesn't highlight/tell you which field it thinks is required but is missing. That's so lazy of the developers.
2 votesThank you for sharing your feedback and highlighting the inconsistency between Workpapers and Xero Blue regarding the requirement for descriptions on manual journal lines. We recognize that in Xero Blue, descriptions are not required for every line of a manual journal, while in Workpapers, this field is currently mandatory. We are moving this idea to “Gaining Support.” as we are actively monitoring interest and feedback from our community to help us prioritize future improvements.
We appreciate your input and encourage you to continue sharing your experiences. We’ll provide updates here as we review this idea further.
Thank you for helping us improve Xero Workpapers!

Workpapers - enable Enter to activate Attach button after pasting a URL in Attach URL screen
After I paste the URL on the Attach URL screen, I want to click Enter.
My hands are on the keyboard. I don't want to have to move them to the mouse.
In original Workpapers if I pasted URL, tab Type the title and clicked Enter, it would Add link.
