  1. Dont automatically open a new tab when clicking the contact link in the new invoice or give option to turn this off.
    There is Alt+click shortcut on all browsers to do this already.
    Making this auto open as default leads to too many unnecessary tabs and attributing to a more messy workflow

    Thanks for your detailed feedback, everyone. We do find that customers have differing expectations of how clicking a link should behave.

    With the current behaviour, opening the contact in a separate tab means that users don't lose any information they may have entered in the invoice.

    We don't have any plans for changing this in the near term but it'll be good for us to continue to get a sense of the interest around this from our community here. If there are any changes that may impact this we'll share an update with you all here.

  2. DISABLE EMAIL SUGGESTIONS FROM XERO

    I WANT TO REMOVE THE ABILITY FOR INVOICES TO BE SENT TO INCORRECT CLIENTS BY INADVERTANTLY SELECTING ONE OF THE (MOSTLY OUTDATED) SUGGESTIONS FROM XERO.

  3. Make it possible for imported invoices to be marked as sent when importing them.
    Perhaps an additional column in the template Mark as sent status "Y for sent N for not sent"
    If this is not possible the ability to bulk "mark as sent"
    this would eliminate the issue of individually opening each invoice to manually "mark as sent" to activate the auto invoice reminders

  4. The "Review and pay" banner misleads recipients into thinking they can make electronic payments, but we're not using e-invoicing and have it turned off. Another major issue is that it causes significant delays in loading or, in some cases, renders the invoice completely inaccessible. The banner in the new invoicing should be named "Review" rather than "Review and pay" or be editable to suit different needs.

  5. When you update the inventory selling price of an item you expect that this is reflected when a repeated invoice is generated. This is not currently the case. The price is ONLY updated when you edit the repeated invoice. Please have an option box on the repeated invoice that allows inventory price updates on generation. Currently waste hours and hours and make mistakes every time an inventory item changes price. Logged support cases about this for years but trying here now. Huge time saver.

For volume based businesses, we lose money (30c per transaction) on the stripe fee we pay vs what we can pass onto the customer (because there's no option currently to just pass on the full fee, just a %). That % can't legally be higher than what we are charged, and we can't add the 30c fee to the % anywhere in settings. When we're processing 1,000 transactions per month, we lose $300 to fees.   7. It would be great to apply the Customers general discount (as set on their Contact Card) to only specified product items, not all product items. e.g. I don't want the Customers discount applied to say my Freight or Labour product items, but I do want to apply it to other products items we are selling.

    I would envisage a Tick Box on each Product card that we can tick, or untick, for the Customers Discount to be applied to it (by default it would be ticked to apply the Customers Discount).

    Appreciate the differing makeups of our customers and the improvements you see that would help your use of Xero.

    I want to be open that we don't have planned changes for adding a discount option within Inventory items themselves atm but we will continue to watch the trend in this idea and share if there is any change.

  8. Sending a statement with additional notes in the email. Is there a way to keep record of the additional notes. At the moment you only see under the contact's history and notes that a statement has been sent, but there is no record of the notes that was sent with the statement

  9. Can we have an option to print to pdf statements in landscape as well as portrait?
    for example the screen in xero when I look at the statement shows the invoice reference in full but when you download this to PDF the reference gets shortened. This is an issue when the reference is a PO number and then you don't see all the PO number on the PDF version, for some customers they will not accept the PDF statement because of this

  10. It's good to see you have extended the period before removing classic invoicing because I still need to revert to classic for certain features that are missing from the new system, namely:

    1. The ability to copy invoices to Bills and PO's - this is an important feature that I use regularly
    2. Send invoices via Xero network - again this is a feature that has been useful especially for invoicing between subsidiaries.
    3. Save and continue feature, I don't like the auto save feature because it continues to update the history and notes while I am still adding details to the invoice…

You'll receive any updates of progress for these separately. I'll just adjust the title for your idea here to reflect your last point around the formatting of a contact name.     Yes. Of course I am aware you can send automatic reminders and that is great if everyone is paying through a payment system and is automatically captured. Yet for businesses like mine where 99% of people are small businesses and pay by bank transfer, one must still manually go and consolidate payments. We understand how time-consuming it is to re-send each invoice individually, and we appreciate you sharing your idea again on how this feature would help you get paid faster. Our product team is currently reviewing this idea, and we'll keep you updated on its progress. We're always looking for ways to improve cash flow management in Xero and appreciate your patience.

  12. In Recurring invoice templates provide date placeholders in numeric form, so you can format as YYYY MM, e.g. 2024 12, 2025 01, 2025 02 etc. Rather than the most similar option of 2024 December. This would also be beneficial within the decriptions of the lines to show dates from/to e.g 2024-12-03 to 2025-01-02 (for a monthly subscribtion or similar), instead of it populating as 2024-December-03 to 2025-January-02.

  13. Currently trying to use the new invoicing, but I'll start typing a contact name then tab across before seeing the contact pop up, since I use this contact daily. Under the old invoicing, it would just find the contact once I hit tab. Under the new invoicing, a new contact is created. And since the invoice is saved immediately, this new contact is also saved, so once I finish with the invoice, I then need to go and archive the contact that was created.
    Can we change the defaults or something to fix this?

    Hi community, appreciate your feedback. Currently our team are working on some improvements to the To field in new invoicing and the contacts card that appears when selecting a contact. We understand some of our customers make use of the keyboard much more than the mouse and in reviewing the flow when using Tab the team will be making a change to make selection of a contact and movement to the date field smoother. I'll come back to confirm the detail of the change when this is released.

  14. id love to be able to edit the reference field from the invoice tab. Also the ability to build edit the reference field from the same tab would be helpful. We use that field to know the category the sale is in. So some of our work is shipped, or its to a specific event.

    We're always grateful for your feedback and love hearing what features you'd like to see in Xero. We understand that being able to update the reference field directly from the invoice list page would save you time.     Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on new invoicing. We’re listening carefully to all feedback to make sure new invoicing has the functionality you need, as we prepare for retirement of the classic version.
    We recognise that some things will be different, so we encourage you to spend some time familiarising yourself with the new version.   16. New Invoicing - Type in Item - please change back to only searching start of field, as per old invoicing.
    Now that typing in the Item field in the new invoicing brings up every item with that word or part word in anywhere, we either need to learn all the codes, or make sure our items all contain totally different words. It takes ages to find the item required.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your interests and sharing on the idea here. Being totally open, we don't have plans in the near term for any change that'd solve for the idea here. This may be something we consider down the line and will keep the idea here open to continue monitoring.

    For the time being, we wanted to share a way you can remove links from the customer statement using a custom branding theme that you'd apply when sending a statement.

    Once the new branding theme is created, you can select it when printing or sending the customer statement, and the invoice link will be removed.

  18. Purchase Orders - ability for the suppliers that you send the Purchase Order, to view the document online and have the option to import the Purchase Order to Quotes and Sales Invoices.

    The Purchase order area of Xero feels a bit underdeveloped at the moment. However, one strong step would be to allow Purchase orders sent by Company A from their Xero account to be transferred to Company B's Xero Sales area at the click of a button (giving an option of Quote or direct to sales invoice).

    Hi there, we appreciate your suggestion. It's a thoughtful idea that touches on a key part of the procurement process. We understand that the current method of emailing PDFs and relying on suppliers to recreate the information on their side requires some manual work.

    An online view of purchase orders, along with the ability for suppliers to convert those into a quote or invoice in Xero, would help make this a much smoother experience for everyone involved.

    At the moment in Xero, purchase orders can be converted into bills, which you can then send to suppliers, and quotes can be converted into invoices to be sent to customers. However, there isn’t a way for suppliers to view a purchase order online and import it into their organisation as a Quote.

  19. Rows on invoices - On the new invoicing manually adding rows is cumbersome for a mechanic business suggest making more than 1 row on the invoice. I rarely have an invoice which is less than 6 rows.
    Font size- Font is very small and should be increased to at minimum 12pt.

    Hi Lynda, appreciate your feedback here. As you may have seen from updates on this idea we have now added the ability to add multiple rows to an invoice at a time in sets of 5, 10 or 20 like you could in classic invoicing.

    Earlier this year we also enhanced the invoice grid to optimise font size, padding and column widths. I want to be transparent that we don't have further plans for changing the font size in invoicing.

  20. What happend -
    I imported invoices with an invalid account number. When I went to review the imported invoices in draft, the new invoicing AI technology selected suggested account codes for me, almost to fast for me to notice the account code was blank

    Why this is important -
    The "review draft invoices after import" step is critical in getting it right - I should be able to review exactly what I imported to see where the mistakes are. I can see this being an issue with integrations where invoices are imported via the API
