Invoices - Email | Remove '' View Online'' option
We’re happy with the new edit template invoicing experience, but would like full control over what appears on PDF invoices, specifically the ability to remove the “View Online” button.
Many invoices are printed or saved for offline use, where web links don’t make sense and can look unprofessional. For some businesses and customers, digital links on formal invoice documents are unnecessary or confusing.
Suggested solution:
Add a simple setting or template option to enable/disable the “View Online” button on PDF invoices, so businesses can choose what works best for them.
Since it is our business, we need to have more control what goes on the invoice.
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing and engaging here.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. We will monitor this space in the meantime for more traction.

Whenever I generate an invoice, I have to open up Adobe Acrobat and delete the 'view invoice' links because it looks so horrendous and unprofessional.
I imagine I am with the majority of business operators here who send their invoices via PDF to an accounts payable team, and so having 'view invoice' plastered over an invoice that has a single line item in it is particularly unhelpful.
Also unhelpful is how the Xero PDFs are formatted in Adobe Acrobat as it requires having to delete every letter separately....

Our business recently started using Xero and find the 'View Online' printed twice across the invoice unprofessional for clients who will not access this; we still create our invoices in another program to avoid this. This is disappointing for us.

This is an offensive oversight and even more offensive asking for people to vote on such an obvious oversight.

We would love this too. The colour and size of the link don't match with the rest of our invoice branding template, and are duplicated twice close together as our invoices only have 1-2 line items. It makes it look like a hodge podge of bad design and unprofessional - and good design is important in our industry. Instead of sending the Xero invoices, we create copies of the invoice in Microsoft Word and send PDFs of that - this duplication of work is a frustrating waste of time and a source of possible error.

And also be able to edit the wording of the 'Tax Invoice' at the top. In the legacy version we could edit that. Some clients want 'VAT invoice', some just want 'invoice'

Also, an issue I have with this new invoice template... in the totals area of the PDF copy, I have this example where I invoiced the client $7000, they paid $1000, I then made a credit note of $750 to discount off the sale, then they paid the balance.
The bottom of the invoice doesn't show the credit, it just shows subtotal ($7000, and amount paid of $6250 and 0 balance. There is no break down of the payments like on the online version and it's looks VERY awkward.

Once would be tolerable, but of course the subscriber should have the ability to turn this off (our clients won't need it).
But twice just looks stupid! We have mostly single line invoices so the duplication isn't even spaced apart. Why do all this work to compromise it with sales tactics. Our clients are not going to use xero to process and pay online so this is just irrelevant.

Why is there so little ability to edit these invoices. I like the idea of this new system and the easier editing fields but they need to be able to control the whole invoice not just certain fields.
This double up is one part that needs to be fixed as it is unprofessional as users have mentioned.
There should also be an ability to remove or change the business name above the address. We have 1 business that trades under 3 different names so the way it is now doesn't work.

I agree the "View Online" appears twice and it looks ridiculous. We want to have the choice to toggle off the "View Online" to not show on the invoice.

This is pathetic. "View Online" appears twice and we can't remove either. This looks so unprofessional repeating the link.

The pay now link certainly confused our direct debit customers, a way to rename it would be good or make it more general, having to put words above the link to explain it looks daft

This is ridiculous, its on the invoice twice. Let us at least remove one. Online help is still saying you can remove this but you can't

We take payments at art fairs and then send invoices as receipts of payment with the payment added and showing amount due as 0.00. So we would really appreciate being able to turn off the View and Pay online button which currently seems impossible. Hopefully the community team are working on this.

The “View Online” button adds no value for our business and can actually make the invoice look less professional.
We need full template-level control over PDF invoice layout, including the ability to turn the online link on or off. Every business has different customer requirements, and invoice presentation is part of our brand and professionalism. -
