Hey team 😊 happy to come back to share that this work is now underway with our product team as they begin development for managing files within Xero Payroll.

We really value the feedback we've received from you all in this idea, which has helped inform our teams approach to developing a solution that will fit majority of needs.

I'll return to share as we get nearer to release with more information on what this looks like including where and how you'll be able to attach files in Payroll.

Hi everyone, we’d like to return with an update for all who’ve supported the idea for attaching files within Payroll.

As we develop foundations of payroll to enable us to consider new features like this, we’re beginning discovery of how we might build this capability and when this could be planned in our roadmap.

This is just the initial stages of diving deeper into this work, but steering in the right direction.

I’ll be sure to share any progression around attachments within payroll with you all, here.

Hi community, thanks for the strong support in being able to attach files within Xero Payroll, both for employee records and pay runs. We really appreciate you sharing the value and efficiency this could create for you when working with Xero. It’s evident that being able to store important documents like licenses, sick notes, and onboarding papers directly in Xero would remove the need for external storing systems or manual processes.

We acknowledge it’s not the end goal but wanted to highlight the use of apps ( https://apps.xero.com ) , as some have shared like Dext, to help bridge this gap in the meantime.

I want to assure you that enabling attachments in payroll is part of our long-term intentions. However, to deliver this functionality effectively and reliably, we first need to develop some foundational elements within our payroll platform.

We understand your frustration with the timeline and the limited updates, and we’re committed to improving our communication on these important ideas. We’ll be sure to provide further updates work progresses.

Would be useful to attach medical certificate to the actual leave application. Adding it to the profile will just get messy once you get more than a few of them.

This would be very beneficial for Employees to upload their timesheets that have start/finish/break times ...... while we are waiting for Xero to include this info in their timesheets

There is simple and affordable solution in the Xero Marketplace called Canyou trying to solve this exact problem https://apps.xero.com/au/app/canyou

It would be absolutely fantastic to be able to upload documents and files under individual employees. This will include IRD forms, contracts, certificates and other important and relevant documents. As we have already entered the world of technology it would be great to implement this new change. Lots of benefits.

I think this is a great idea and a must have. I want to be able to store all of my hr and payroll data electronically. Whilst I have filed it within the files section of xero for now, to be able to have all employee data in one area and individualized to each employee would be extremely valuable. Especially for auditing purposes when you need to cross reference contract details against payroll settings.

Our paper timesheets contain much more information on the details of the tasks performed and it would be useful to have these stored in the payroll for that week.

Xero - in employee section and only those with payroll admin rights can upload notes/documents such as medical certificates/TFN forms/super choice forms etc in the notes section to be able to track this better and with relevant payruns as well
