Xero Expenses - Ability to combine multiple photos to one receipt
Be able to take more than one photo on the phone app and combine to one receipt, to be used for multiple page receipts or long receipts that do not fit into the one photo
Hi everyone, thanks for your detailed feedback on combining multiple images to a single receipt.
We are changing the status of this idea to In Discovery.
This means our Product team has recognised that combining multiple images for a receipt will be a more streamlined process for expenses, especially for events like business travel and is the initial scoping phase, but haven’t got to the point where it’s on their road map.
We will continue to track your votes and comments as we progress, and we will update you all once we know more.

So, 3 years to consider a basic request? That’s a score of Xero out of 10 for responsiveness. This nuts not to have this. Here’s the scenario. Overseas travel. For EVERY expense, I have a foreign currency invoice or receipt, a transaction on my personal credit card that shows how that translates to my home currency which I need to screenshot and a separate transaction for the international transaction fee. So I need to combine 3 items into one document for each and every one of them. Could be all images or a PDF and two images. What a nightmare! No doubt I’ll have work out the total manually. There should be an option to input a commission rate so the international transaction fee is calculated and added too. This is all possible in competitive systems like Concur.

A massive flaw and one that should be such an easy fix.

I have to say I'm quite surprised at this limitation. Not being able to attach multiple receipts to an expense with multiple lines feels like a significant design flaw and suggests this scenario hasn't been fully thought through. In real world use, it's very common for a single claim to include multiple receipts that need to be categorised across different expense lines (for example, hotel accommodation and meals, or multiple meals on the same day). From an accounting and audit perspective, being able to clearly link each receipt to its corresponding line is fundamental. Requiring these to be split into separate expense claims undermines accuracy, creates unnecessary admin and increases the risk of errors or duplication.

So many other products have this feature built in as default.. I've just switched from Zoho expenses to Xero and now regretting the move. Totally unbelievable you have not implemented this feature yet, I've been using it for years on many other products.

The updated expense claim function is now so time consuming. You used to be able to process multiple receipts on one expense claim, now you have to process one transaction per receipt, so time consuming and annoying, bring back the old way!!!

Well I guess this (really sensible, easy to implement and completely bloody essential function) for any expense system..... Is never going to be addressed !

To add to this I need this for Xero Me - I would love to be able to add multiple items, with image to a claim and then at the end of the trip or month I can close the draft claim and submit it for approval... Even if it was limited to say 10 or 15 items, that would be better than just 1 for each claim. We want to stay with Xero Me but without this feature we have to consider moving to a more streamlined option. thanks!

It is so important to get this function implemented. It would save valuable time if the member of staff uploading the claim could attach multiple pdf's rather than spending time emailing it to accounts who then have to go in and manually attach to the claim.

Can someone explain to me why you can add additional expense items to make a larger claim ie a monthly claim for all expenses over that month, but you can only upload one image? This renders the claim completely pointless.

I have been asking for this, for a couple of years.
Please please can we have multiple images per expense.

I have made recommendations to two clients and they all ask this question; when will they be able to submit multiple expense claims at a go? Imagine having to submit 50+ receipts after a tiring trip on the field. I believe this will save time.

About time this was added - I see the original request was in 2022. This is a real nuisance.

If one can only attach a single file, allow a ZIP archive to be attached. That can at least contain the multiple files and be only one. It is an artificial limitation to only allow JPEG, PNG and PDF attachments - we don't need a preview per say but we do need all items to be attached somehow!

That one cannot add multiple receipts to an itemized expense claim, one for each item, is ridiculous!

The multiple image for per expenses claim is very critical!! Please resolve this issue as soon as possible!!!

This is another example of the expenses tool no longer being fit for purpose. It seemed to be fine before it was changed and now misses the mark on multiple issues.
Xero must engage with users and revisit this part of the system.

This would be really helpful for users. As the admin I can add receipts but that's not the most efficient process.

I support this idea. Recently, I had a single hotel charge for two rooms that came with two separate receipts (one per room). Since I couldn't attach both to the same transaction in Xero Expenses, I had to create two claims for one charge - adding unnecessary admin and risking confusion in reporting.
Thanks for considering this request, Product Ideas Team - it would make a big difference. Really appreciate the work you’re doing to keep improving the platform.
