AU Payroll - Timesheets, remove 24 hour switch time
Aus Payroll - Timesheets. Several issues arising after switching the new model. Payroll Authorisers should be able to see when an employee has submitted their times for approval. And you should be able to switch back to the new version & not have to wait 24 hours. I had an employee enter their times for approval, however, the timesheet was not approved & when I switched to the old version the timesheet simply disappeared.
1 voteHi Lisa, thanks for sharing this feedback. Payroll timesheets should work as you've described, timesheet approvers should be notified of submitted timesheets, so the best next step is to contact Xero Support so they can investigate what happening on your end.
Just wanting to add, the classic version of timesheets is expected to be removed from Xero in approximately 30 days. Once it is removed, the current 24-hour restriction on switching between versions will also no longer apply.

AU Payroll - New timesheets
The new Timesheets experience; it's look is so bulky and takes up so much screen. Scrolling down instead of the ability to quickly glance over the list is not user friendly. I wonder why this needed to be changed with the old look and classic experience worked perfectly and was more than fine. The entire look of Xero is becoming cumbersome and clunky to look at and navigate.
1 voteAppreciate your feedback, Naomi. In terms of the why - The new timesheet experience is built with modern technology and provides the foundations for us to continue to develop future features to continue to support our AU payroll customers.
If there is something specific in this new experience that you feel could be changed or added to improve your experience we welcome you to start an idea for this that we can gather support and keep you updated through. Thanks

quarterly superannuation auto approve
This need to be fixed it's a waste of time. You should be able to auto approve Super contributions for at least a whole quarter. should a change need to be made the auto approve would stop for that quarter and then weekly approvals would then be required
JAX said, at 9:52 am:
I completely understand your frustration — if the amounts don't change week to week, having to log in and SMS-approve every single batch does feel like unnecessary repetition. Your suggestion of an auto-approve option for the quarter (that reverts to manual approval if anything changes) makes a…1 voteHi Graeme, it sounds like you're having trouble with approving an auto super payment, but it's not 100% clear.

If you are an existing Gusto client, is there a way to transfer the data from Gusto into Xero Payroll by Gusto? Other than having it all under one log-in are there advantages to even doing this?

Payroll AU: Leave balances report using actual hourly rate
Leave entitlement balances report options are required. Currently the leave entitlement balances report shows the employee entitlement amount as an average of the last pay which can included overtime.
There must be an option to generate this report based on the employee's actual hourly rate. Annual Leave is paid at the actual hourly rate and not an average, and the current report overstates the Employee Entitlements.
1 voteHi Rachel, thanks for raising this. To clarify how the AU Leave Balances report works, the dollar amount is calculated by multiplying the employee’s leave balance in hours by in their Pay Template.
It isn’t calculated from an average of the employee’s most recent pay and doesn’t use overtime as part of the rate.
The report shows balances from posted pay runs, and unprocessed leave requests aren’t included. You can read more about the report in Leave Balances report – Xero Central.

New Timesheet Layout Improvements for Efficiency & Accuracy
LOVE the new timesheet layout screen team, looks great and clear to help!
It would be awesome to add a couple of different functions:
Add an arrow to either side of the page to switch to the next employee draft timesheet once your editing another employees. This would save so much time during updating rather than hitting save, exiting back to the main menu, and then clicking into the next employee.
When editing an employees timesheet, if there was a sidebar that showed that employees current leave requests that are upcoming or yet to be paid. Again making it seamless…
1 voteHi Kate, we appreciate your feedback on new Timesheets. This has been shared the with product team.
We don't accept ideas that have multiple request in one post. Please create separate ideas for each feature and/or area of Xero you'd like to see this developed so we can gauge support and keep users updated for individual concepts.
Just looking through existing ideas, there does already appear to be existing threads for save & next on timesheets, showing upcoming leave on timesheets, and recording TOIL to timesheets.

Payroll Journal
Payroll Settings: Payroll journal Employer NIC postings allow incorrect selection of the net wages liability account. This makes the balance on net wages meaningless and therefore useless. Employer NIC and Employer's Allowance should always be posted to PAYE or NIC liabilities accounts.
The solution is to ensure that the drop-down does not offer net wages or any other inappropriate accounts.
Thank you.1 voteThank you for sharing this on the Product Ideas website.
We can see that you have since raised this with Xero Support, who identified that the issue was due to your payroll settings. While your payroll is working as designed, it is incredibly important to ensure the settings, as well as the expense and liability accounts are correctly set up prior to posting payroll.
If you need any further assistance with adjusting these settings, please don't hesitate to reach back out to our support team.

Payroll Journal Errors.
When using the UK Salary Sacrifice scheme, the payroll journal incorrectly posts the gross deduction to Net Wages Liability. This means the balance on Net Wages is meaningless and therefore useless and, worse, because this deduction should be an expenses credit, the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss are both incorrect.
The deduction can only be posted to a current liability account, so although I can divert the posting from Net Wages to a special liability account, I then have to use a manual journal every payroll to post it from liabilities to the Salaries expense account.
This is serious…1 voteThank you for sharing this on the Product Ideas website.

Are any updates or changes to Xero Payroll expected as a result of these EI reporting changes? If so, could you please provide details of any system updates, new validation requirements, or actions payroll administrators should be aware of?

Grrrrrr
That I need to pay an extra $41/month just to go from 1 employee per pay cycle to 2 is disgustinnnnnn'. More than double the subscription cost for something that is nowhere near more than double the functionality/productivity etc etc. UK Xero offers a per person charge, do better.

AU Payroll | Superannuation - Prevent pop up if organisation already using
Xero will show me banners at certain times to tell me of a new feature that could save me some time but they do that without first checking whether I am using that feature already. For instance, Xero just told me how I could save time with automatic superannuation. I spent time reading the linked article only to realize that I already have automatic superannuation payments set up and operating. Xero has the data to know if I am using the feature they want to advertise. Xero should respect it's users' time by not suggesting features that users are already…
1 voteThanks for your feedback here, Martin. I've shared this back with our teams and want you to know that we're taking more active approaches to targeting who, when and where our prompts and notifications across Xero are shown.
I've confirmed with our team around the specific pop up you've noted here and understand that this has now been removed, but I do appreciate the distraction this created in trying to learn and understand a feature you were already using. Thanks again

Payroll AU: Re arrange earning rates pay runs and on timesheets
Be able to re-arrange the list of earing rates as viewed on pay runs and on timesheets
1 voteHi Matthew, thanks for sharing this with us.
It sounds like you're looking to have pay items listed in a specific order, such as alphabetically. Just a quick heads-up that you can already achieve this by configuring the display name in your pay item settings.
To help others in the community know what they're voting for and ensure your post can be properly evaluated as a product idea, we'll need a bit more detail. Could you please reply with some more information on what you're hoping to achieve?

New Pay Employees Screen Layout
New Pay Employees Screen - I do not like the new layout as it is not as visual as the previous one. Difficult to quickly identify status of a payrun. Brighter colours? Different layout or sorting options?
1 voteHi Nicole, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the new Pay Employees experience! We've passed your thoughts on visibility directly to the product team so they can review them as we continue making improvements.
In the meantime, we recently added filters to the layout to help streamline your workflow. You can now easily identify employee statuses, filter by pay frequencies, and set customised date ranges to get the exact view you need.
Thank you again for helping us shape the future of Xero!

AU Payroll - Payrun history expand or collapse button OR group in payroll years
Ability to have an expand and collapse button for pays previously posted and presented under Pay Run History.
After using Xero for a number of years, locating a previous pay run becomes looking for a needle in a haystack as this section is just a swamp of pays.
Grouping in payroll financial years or having a date filter would assist greatly also.

AU payroll - Option to reorder dates in unscheduled pay run dropdown.
When there are no payruns for multiple pay runs in a row, please add a feature to allow to reset the pay cycle from a selected date. As it is, if a client doesn't have any pay runs, we need to either post/file the empty pay runs to keep on the pay calendar, or run all future pays as unscheduled pay runs, or set up a new pay calendar. Wouldn't it be great if there was a more simple way to keep on track with pay cycles?! Also, when selecting an unscheduled pay run, please reorder the pay dates so…
