  1. Payroll Overview Dashboard - Can you please make this editable so that it can be customised to what details we want to see at an easy glance? Also the Calendar populates all 'holidays/public holidays' regardless of what state/country you're in. This should be customisable so that you can opt to only have your relevant holidays shown.

  2. When posting a pay run, Xero should automatically create spend money transactions with all relevant details and links to the pay run.

    Currently, this is done manually by creating spend money transactions for each transaction and there is no link to the payslip.

    This will save a lot of time in reconciling a pay run and improve the connectivity within Xero.

    Hi community, you might've heard that we’re making changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.

    Considering that we'll retire this feature we want to front-foot that we have no plans (as requested in this idea) to develop Global Pay Run.

  3. Show leave balances on payslip in days and hours and not just hours. Easier for staff to understand their leave balances in days than only in hours.

    Hey everyone, thanks for all your feedback on displaying leave balances in days on payslips. We recognise that many of you are keen to see this feature.

    Our product team has reviewed this suggestion. While we understand the value it'd bring, it isn't on our foreseeable roadmap. As a result, we're updating the status of this idea to 'Not in Pipeline'.

    We're keeping this idea open for votes to help us gauge its popularity when we next review our payroll priorities. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.🙂

  4. At the moment when one staff member accesses notifications on the main Xero dashboard and actions it i.e tax code changes the notification will not disappear for all users on the Xero subscription. It would be a good idea that this could disappear for all users once actioned to completion to ensure that work is not duplicated by two or three other staff checking that same notification.

  6. It would be a great addition to be able to allocate employees to a particular employee group and from this run historical employee summary reports by employee.

    At present when setting up tracking categories the tracking in employee reports will only track payruns once the employee groups are setup. Any historical payruns are not included. This makes it difficult to compare periods or look at employee group reports for the year to date.

    There should be an ability to apply the employee grouping tracking to all or some of the historical payruns.

  7. Currently, Xero lists a super accrual for employees under the age of 18 when they earn over $450/mth. However, it doesn't take into account how many hours that employee works per week. Under 18s are not eligible to be paid super unless they work over 30 hours per week (even if they earn over $450/mth), but Xero doesn't recognise this. Unfortunately this shows up a s liability for the employer, even though a liability doesn't exist. I know that it can be worked around in the pay run, but it just means extra work for the payroll admin - particularly…

    Hey everyone! Thanks for your ongoing feedback on this. We appreciate you taking the time to highlight how important it is to get superannuation calculations exactly right, especially with the specific rules around employees under 18.

    Our product team has reviewed this idea and agrees this needs to be addressed. The current workaround of manually adjusting each pay run isn't the seamless experience we want to provide, especially for businesses with multiple under-18 employees.

    As a result, we're moving this idea to 'Accepted'. While we can't give a specific timeframe for a solution right now, this status means it's on our radar and something we'd like to develop in the future.

    Thanks for your strong feedback on logging start and end times in NZ Payroll timesheets. We understand some of you are currently using workarounds or additional softwares to track start and end times.

    I'm pleased to let you know we're moving this idea to In discovery, which means the product team is now reviewing the viability of this feature. This is an important step as we explore what it would take to bring this functionality to NZ Payroll and how it could best serve your needs.

  9. Approve employee leave requests directly from notification email.

    As a Leave Approver, I want to be approve or reject leave applications directly from the notification email so that I don't have to continually login.

    We can see it's been a while since we've provided you with an update about this idea. We've reviewed and it looks like it's an idea that's steadily Gaining Support.

  10. The Payroll Journal dates are currently fixed to be the Pay Date, which is incorrect for any business that has hourly paid employees which must pay after end of month, when all hours are calculated.

    Every month all of our P&L figures are wrong because of this. Nobody wants to have to waste time doing loads of manual journals every month, which have the potential for mistakes, when Xero has created a system which is supposed to automate this process.

    Hi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago. The payment date of a pay run determines tax month it falls into, which is why the expense costs are journaled at the payment date. Making changes to how this works isn't something we have plans for in the near term.

  11. It will be very useful for reporting if we are able to change the layout of Timesheet Details from a week ending to fortnightly while also able to choose the start date and end date without the dates with zero hours.

  12. The feature request is to allow the defining of current liability accounts for pay items with pay types set to Deductions, Payroll Taxes, and Post-tax Deductions. This will enable the tracking of payroll source deductions and taxes necessary for remittance reports to the tax authority (such as EI, CPP and income taxes for T4 and T4 summary completion in Canada).

    There are two ways I believe Xero developers could achieve this goal.

    Thanks for sharing and engaging with Product ideas. While we understand wanting to see improvements to Global Pay Run, however as you may have recently read -

    We’re making some changes to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

  13. We need to know how much to provide for on the balance sheet for annual leave and long service leave each month and track these for our financial statements. All the information is available via Xero payroll (leave balances and pay rates for each employee as well as leave accrued and leave taken) but in order to account for this correctly we are expected to export reports and do the calculations ourselves. And we need to maintain external files to reconcile this to each month.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on automating leave provisions. Currently Xero does not automatically include leave liabilities on the Balance Sheet. Some of you have mentioned workarounds such as reviewing the Leave Balances Report and creating Manual Journals to include the liability in your reporting.

    While we’re dedicated to streamlining payroll calculations, our product team confirmed this specific idea isn't on our foreseeable roadmap. We’ll be updating the status to Not in pipeline. The idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to monitor community interest.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing how important streamlining P45 distribution is for your payroll workflow.

    It’s not currently possible to send P45’s directly from Xero. Our product team is actively exploring ways to enhance employee self-service features. While specific plans for this feature are not yet finalised for the immediate roadmap, this area remains a key focus for future development. We've moved this idea to Accepted.

    We'll keep you posted if anything changes. In the meantime, you can download P45s from Xero and send them via your usual email software.

  15. Looking to move from using Sage payroll where this time saving feature is available when paying net bonuses, it would be great help if this was also available in Xero payroll.

  16. Can you please give the option to inactivate past employees/leavers from payroll summary when doing reports. Every employee we have ever had is coming up on the report each time.

    Also how do I set up overtime payments to stay on employee profile instead of using the drop down menu every week.

    Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to explain how important this functionality is to upload files to leave requests.

    We're currently exploring ideas to attach files to employee records, however our product team confirmed that attaching files directly into leave requests is not something we're focusing on at the time. We’ve moved this idea to Not in pipeline.

    We know this isn't the update you were hoping for, but we want to be transparent about where things stand. The idea remains open for votes, so we'll continue monitoring community interest and feedback as we plan for the future.

  18. As an employee, I receive an email every time a leave request was approved.
    My boss receives an email every time a leave request is submitted and every time a timesheet is submitted.
    It would be great to disable these email notifications

  19. Xero have added an automatic journal which credits salaries with the amount recovered from the government. This is great except we use tracking categories for all transactions in the P&L and the automatic journal leaves it blank. We have to post a manual journal to correct the posting. It would be useful for the automatic journal to include tracking.

  20. I look after a business that has been advised by the ATO that their PAYG has cycle has changed & they must remit the PAYG tax to ATO within 7 days of each payrun. This means we currently have to make a manual payment for PAYG to the ATO each week, more if there there happens to be an extra pay run for some reason. Payroll software we use for other clients in the same sitiatuon has the functionality to include the PAYG payment with the ABA file for the payrun, which means everyting is automated.
