Invoice Settings - Ability to change the name of the transaction (quote to Proposal)
Editing the Branding Theme doesn't change all instances of certain terms. We don't use QUOTES in our business, we send out PROPOSALS. Changing all instances of QUOTES here doesn't change all instances of Quotes throughout the approval process. On the approval page, if you click Download in the upper right hand corner, it still says "Quote Q-####" and on the invoice itself it references a Quote number, not a Proposal number.
Thanks for raising this — it’s an important distinction.
Xero allows the title displayed on the document to be changed, for example from Quote to Proposal. However, this only changes the customer-facing heading. It doesn’t change the underlying transaction type in Xero, which remains a quote.
As a result, other areas can still show quote terminology, such as Quote number, the quote numbering sequence, the quote workflow, and the generated PDF filename. This can feel inconsistent because the document heading says Proposal, while other parts of Xero still identify it as a quote.
We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support. If this would help your business, please add your vote and share how consistent proposal terminology would improve your workflow. ✨
