Projects - Assign repeating invoice to a project

Ability to assign repeating to Xero Project.

Purpose: To save users’ time from manually assigning repeating invoices.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. We really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and the needs you've expressed about how auto linking recurring invoices to projects would save time, and give you more insights into project profitability.

The primary way to link repeating invoice line items to a project is to manually assign them to the project once the invoice has been generated, though we know you're looking for ways to streamline this process.

We've carefully reviewed all your comments and the strong desire for this functionality, however after much consideration, we've decided that we won't be developing the ability to assign repeating invoices to projects in the foreseeable future.

We understand this news might be disappointing, especially for those who've been vocal about this need for some time. Decisions like these are always tough. We have to balance a wide range of requests and development priorities across all aspects of Xero to deliver the most impact for our global customer base.

    This will prevent errors of forgetting to assign invoices to projects.

    We set up the annual work for a client as a project and the client has monthly invoices. Would LOVE to be able to assign the invoices to the projects

    We've decided to abandon projects, unfortunately wasn't an option for us so going back to Xero without the Projects module.

    We have 400+ repeating invoices and to have to go into each one individually, edit and assign a project is unworkable. Please do this as soon as possible.
    It is also needed on Journals!!

    I see from the comments below this isn't being actioned- a move to Quickbooks is on the cards

    All our invoicing comes from projects so this is critical.

    It's also critical to us that bills and costs can be assigned to projects via Hubdoc.

    I spend so much time adding a project to repeating invoices when it could so easily be done in the template. It's critical for those businesses that provide services. Come on Xero, PLEASE get this one sorted.

    Critical feature - I have 70 monthly recurring invoices that I have to manually assign to projects once they've raised - and they have multiple lines to them. Ridiculously time consuming.

    Critical Feature. Should also apply same principle to Recurring Bills and Recurring Journals. i.e. allowing users to assign to Projects

    Would really like this to help with retainer projects where the client is always paying a fixed fee each month.
