AU Tax - Option to show TFN when printing return at any time
At the moment, we can only print the tax return to show the TFN before changing the status to out-for-sign. The option should be available at all times to enable printing the tax return with the TFN when required. We have received a few requests from banks asking for the tax return with the TFN, but we aren't able to reprint it once it is lodged.
2 votesHi Ribert, thanks for highlighting this. We can see how being able to print or download a lodged tax return with the TFN visible could be helpful when clients need to provide documents to banks or other third parties.
Currently, the option to display the TFN is only available before the return progresses beyond certain stages of the workflow. Once lodged, the TFN is masked on generated copies to help protect sensitive information.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular scenarios where you regularly need to reproduce lodged returns with the TFN visible, we'd appreciate hearing more about those use cases.

Xero Tax (NZ) - Change colour of Mark as Approved and Mark as Signed buttons
It would be good if the "Mark as Approved" and "Mark as Signed" buttons in XPM were different colours rather than the same green. It is very easy to click on Mark as Signed in error.
5 votesThanks for sharing your idea relating to changing the colour of the buttons in XPM, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

AU Tax | Trust Tax Returns - Multi business Worksheets
After discussion with Xero support it would be beneficial to have the option for multiple business worksheets added to the Trust Tax Returns.
4 votesHi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand you’re looking for a way to manage multiple business activities within a single Trust Tax Return.
The suggestion is to support multiple business worksheets within one return, making it easier to capture different business streams separately while keeping the tax file organised.
For now, some practices use external spreadsheets to consolidate and track this information before completing the return. We'll continue to track the interest on this idea here.

AU Tax - Deductions for motor vehicle claims and depreciation against partner distributions
The ability to create depreciation and motor vehicle schedules against share of partnership (and some trust) distributions is critical. Cannot believe it isn't available.
1 voteThanks for highlighting this suggestion. We understand the request for partner-level motor vehicle and depreciation deductions to be reflected directly in the Partnership Tax Return.
We've updated the status to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest. If this could be useful, add your vote and share your thoughts.

AU Tax - Ability to print/download separate schedules/worksheets
Please enable download/print option for specific worksheets and schedules, so that they can become their own standalone document. Example, if I only want to view the rental schedule, have the ability to PDF just this part of the return. This would make the preparation of working paper documents much clearer, and support internal workflow processes. Ideally there would be a print/download button at the top of each schedule/worksheet for quick navigation.
1 voteThanks for raising this idea, Sarah. Being able to print or download a specific tax schedule as a standalone document could make managing working papers more straightforward.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue gathering feedback. Add your vote and let us know which schedules or worksheets you’d find most useful.

NZ Tax - Add Status to filter options
You can create filters in the Tax-Returns view but Status is not an option. While there are separate tabs in the view for Draft/Completed/Approved etc it would be more useful to be able to filter to see everything except Assessed in one place.
1 voteThanks for taking the time to share this idea.
We understand how useful it would be to have Status available as a filter in the Tax Returns view. We’ll move this idea to Gaining support so we can gauge interest from the Xero community and help our product team better understand the demand and potential value of this improvement. While this step doesn’t confirm that the feature will be developed, community votes and comments help us assess how broadly this would benefit users and how it fits with other priorities.
If this would improve your workflow, please continue to vote and comment. It would also be helpful to hear which statuses you would most like to filter by and how you currently manage this today. 🙂

Practice tools | Tax Statements & Payments - Indicator for roll forward notes
For notes made in Tax Payments: these need to be split into 2 areas, (1) notes pertaining to that provisional installment and, (2) notes that will continue to roll forward.
It is crucial that even if the installment date has passed, the notes are still visible. Also from the main Tax Payments screen we need an indicator on the client row to show that the client has an active note (with the ability to archive a note as well).

NZ Tax - Need taxable income field available for reporting
We need to run a report showing the taxable income of all our individual clients (from the tax returns filed), to find those that are over the maximum liable earnings for ACC.
From there we check for clients who may have had more than one employer and therefore paid more than the maximum ACC levies, so we can contact ACC for a refund.
When we were using MYOB, taxable income was a field included in the tax letter reports so we could download and filter from there.
Apparently there is no way to get this data out of Xero, as…
1 voteHi Kathryn, thanks again for sharing this idea.
I can see why having taxable income available in reporting would be useful, especially when you need to identify clients who may be over the ACC maximum liable earnings threshold and then follow up on any possible refunds.
We’re moving this idea to Gaining support so others in the Community can vote for it and add their use cases. That helps us keep an eye on interest and better understand the impact this would have for practices using NZ Tax.
If anyone else in your practice would benefit from this, please encourage them to add their support and comments too.

XPH | Jobs - Show all activity statements (inc. lodged)
Since the change to the partner hub, this has disappeared.
I cannot be the only one who accessed activity statements from the job and not the tax returns tab?
They disappear into the tax return tab abyss now.
3 votesThanks for your feedback on how you use Jobs to access Activity statements, Kerrie. Good to have this understanding here and we'll see if there is a wider base of our community this resonates with too.
If we make any plans to change the way activity statements are shown on jobs I'll let you know, here.

NZ Tax - File IR3R from XPM
IRD have requested that we file a IR3R for each residential rental property. It would be great to be able to include this submission with the tax return in XPM, instead of having to file this manually via MyIR. Please update the system so that this can be submitted together with the IR3 via XPM.
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea, Kahurangi. For now we'll start to get a gauge of the wider interest for this from the community here.
We'll share if there are any updates.

AU Tax - CGT Event Summary Report
Competitor software provides a summary of the CGT events from a tax return in a 'line-per-transaction' view that's easy for clients to view and understand. This is lacking since switching to Xero Tax.
1 voteHi Alex , we appreciate your feedback on how a dedicated CGT Event Summary report could make it easier to review and reconcile complex capital gains activity during tax prep.
Having a single report to view CGT events and supporting calculations could help reduce the need to work across multiple schedules and asset records. We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share the feedback with our product teams.

AU Tax - Allow custom cover letters and document templates for CURNN forms
I would like to be able to create a custom cover letter to go with the CURNN.
2 votesHi Elaine, we understand that having more flexibility with client-facing documents can help practices keep communications consistent with their own branding and processes.
The suggestion is to allow custom cover letters to be included with CURNN forms, so the full client pack can be created in one place.
For now, you can download the CURNN confirmation and attach it to your own cover letter or template. We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams understand the value of adding more document customisation options.

Xero - Ability to have a vehicle Log Book to automatically proportion vehicle expenses
To have the ability to record odometer readings, start, finish & business/private use.
Then automatically apportion the business use component against vehicle expenses. For instance the Australian rules require 12 weeks minimum of logbook entries. More entries = more accuracy.
This could also be a great feature to 'sell' XERO to new customers.
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you Duncan. At the moment , the best option is to look for a connected app that allows you to achieve this. You can check out our Xero App Store. If you need further assistance, we'd recommend raising a case with our support team as well. We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!
Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

Xero Tax UK - management expenses support
Xero Tax no longer supports management expenses (eg for investment companies), which are a common requirement. This used to work fine. The workaround recommended by Xero Support is to incorrectly include management expenses as operating / trading expenses, then make them disallowable and include them separately as a management expense. This mess is all visible on the CT600 and needs fixing.
1 voteThanks for raising this idea with us, and for clearly explaining the impact it has on your workflow. 🙂
We understand the need for Xero Tax to better support management expenses for investment companies, especially where the current workaround creates confusing or incorrect presentation on the CT600.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest from the community and help our product team better understand the value of improving this area.
If others are affected by this as well, it would be helpful to hear more examples of how this impacts your filings and any risks or extra work it creates for your practice.
If there are any updates or plans made around this, we’ll share them here.

AU Tax - Journal entry for Activity Statement
Instead of creating a bill when lodging the BAS through Xero - have the option to create a journal entry instead!
6 votesThanks for sharing your idea about how you'd like to see the Activity Statement function improved.
Now it's up to the community to get behind and support your idea. Make sure to share it with anyone who it could also benefit, so they can add their votes and comments too!

AU Tax - Ability to schedule client tax return emails to be sent for signing
Can XPM/Xero tax add a scheduled send feature? So that we can schedule tax returns/BAS returns to be sent at a set time and day to the client for signing? Content snare, Outlook etc all have these features and its very much missing from XPM.
1 voteHi Jackie, thanks for bringing this idea forward.
We understand you’re looking for an option to schedule tax return emails for signing, so client communications can be sent at a time that works best for your practice and clients.
Having more control over when signature requests are delivered could help practices manage busy tax periods more efficiently.
We’ll continue to track feedback and interest from the community for this idea. Please keep sharing your workflows and use cases here.

UK Tax - Ability to run per tracking category for sole trader accounts
We have set up tracking categories in xero - one for Land & property and one for Self employment. I want to be able to import the data in to their tax return. I normally generate on xero tax the xero sole trader accounts to then be able to import these into the tax return. However, when i do the sole trader accounts, it pull through all information - L&P & SE. I only want the SE bit so i can add this to the SE section on the tax return. I have asked xero support if there is a…
3 votesThanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how filtering sole trader account data by tracking category could support your tax preparation workflow.
As you've mentioned, tracking categories will be utilised to support multiple businesses for MTD for IT, however this isn't available with Xero Tax for sole trader accounts preparation.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.
Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

UK tax - Ability to split debtors due for longer than 12 months
Xero Tax currently doesn't have the functionality to separately display non-current assets and current assets as distinct sections on the face of the balance sheet. The software is presenting all debtors (including the deferred tax asset) under the current assets section, with the split between current and non-current amounts shown only in the notes.
Whilst FRS 102:4.4A states that in most cases it's sufficient to disclose amounts due after more than one year in the notes, in our recent case we identified that we had a material item that requires separate disclosure on the face of the balance sheet to…
1 voteThanks for raising with us here, Nyima.
Appreciate the need you've shared on being able to show a material item separately on the face of the balance sheet.
It'd be good for us to get a better capture the impact this has for other practices here. For yourself and others coming across the idea, it would be great to hear further examples of any compliance or presentation needs you have in this feature, particularly where material items need separate face-of-balance-sheet disclosure rather than note-only disclosure. If there's any plans made around this we will share here.

Xero Tax (UK) - Option to change filings dates
Our understanding is that it should not be necessary to amend the year-end date at Companies House in order to file an accounting period that falls within −7/+7 days of the year end, as doing so would constitute an extension of the accounting period, which we would prefer to avoid.
At present, Xero does not support this scenario, nor does it offer an alternative recommended approach. It would therefore be helpful if Xero could address this limitation.
The only workaround we can see available is to change the year-end date to the 30th or 31st where it is not already…
2 votesThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We appreciate you highlighting the importance of having flexibility when filing within the acceptable Companies House range without amending the official year-end date.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Company Accounts (UK) | Final Review Process
When using the new Xero Beta FRS102 IA module based in Xero blue, You can lock the accounts to be sent for signature. But this is not reflected in the Xero Company accounts and tax module on Xero HQ, where the lists of what has and hasn't been done for workflow is kept. It seems to continue to show in progress in the status bar as well. This is important for maintaining Audit trails of who does the review and when things can be sent out.
The final review on the CT600 is still there.1 voteThank you for raising the idea Francisca. We are still exploring the idea of introducing a review process directly within Company Accounts. However, we do plan to display much more about which team member has performed certain actions and when though to create a more visible audit trail throughout the product.
We have moved this Idea to Gaining Support so others can vote and comment and we can gauge the community interest.
