I would like to see GST and PST in separate accounts not lumped into one account.

AU Tax - Manually Adjust Tax Estimates
Ability to put in manual tax estimate adjustments, such as prior liabilities on tax accounts so clients can see total owed. It can show estimate for return, then show the adjustments.

Ability to convert an Adhoc job to a normal job
In the new job manager Adhoc jobs no longer appear in the all jobs list.
As part of our Adhoc time review we would turn an Adhoc job into a regular job by changing the name, adding a budget, updating date etc. We have just done this for 50 jobs but they don't appear in the all jobs list.
There needs to be a way to turn an adhoc job into a regular job. Creating a new job and moving time is an unnecessary step when an adhoc job appearance doesn't look any different to a regular job.

Xero HQ - Import/Export function of Client Xero Network Keys
Export/Import Xero Network Keys for clients (from Xero HQ) in order to be able to import into company Xero.
So that our invoices can also be sent directly to the clients Xero, so saves time on bookkeeping.

XPM - Hide Archived Contacts
New XPM Contacts that link to multiple clients shows archived contacts when search. This is confusion to know which contact to select when the client has archived entities, if use incorrect one then not using 1 main contact. Currently having to select each one till find the main contact with current contact info.
Need to block out archived contacts from showing or atleast show a symbol against them so know not to select it.3 votes -
Profit and Loss - Tracking categories in rows and annualised per periods (in columns)
P&L - Tracking categories (cost centres) in rows and analized per periods (in columns) . When I run this report on xero, it shows me in the same column (period and cost centre), the cost centre should be displayed in rows. Really annoying that this option does not work properly as its impossible to analyse anything.

When preparing the second and subsequent years filings in xero tax for accounts and taxation, bring forward the settings, notes, tagging, engagement letter dates into the next year to save re-entering it all again

Workpapers - Ability to use Custom Excel Templates
It's been mentioned previously but seems to have fallen off Xero's radar - the ability to use our own Excel workpapers within Xero workpapers would be fantastic.
163 votesThanks for the feedback here, everyone. We get how being able to use custom Excel templates for Workpapers could save you time and power up your use of Xero Workpapers.
Currently, you can export Workpapers data to Excel and then copy info into your preferred template. Allowing you to continue using your custom templates for now.
The good news is we're delivering a new Workpapers solution, and our team are exploring how to enable this functionality within this.
We'll post an update as soon as we have any news to share.

US Tax - Create Schedule C Report with Full Cost (Total/Gross Cost Inclusive of Sales Tax) for tax return. Currently, it will pull the amounts without the sales tax (created when you match a transaction/enter an invoice using tax on purchases amounts) into the report, which is under-reporting the amount for the Schedule C tax deductions.
The current work-around is to pull the transaction reports for each account and use the Gross amount from those reports in Excel to link back to the Schedule C report.

Billable Expenses - Feature to flow through to XPM Clients
It would be great if there was a link between the billable expenses in Xero and XPM that would allow for billable expenses assigned to a client to be created as a cost in XPM. We currently add these manually as a cost on the job.

Practice Manager - Regular syncing of "Clients" to Xero Blue "Contacts"
The current sync of "clients" from XPM to "contacts" of the practice Xero Blue file only updates when an invoice is sent across.
Surely this could be made into an immediate sync, or at the very least an overnight sync?
Given XPM doesn't integrate with a whole lot of software and doesn't integrate with Zapier, many add-ons practices use are linked with the Xero Blue file and require that data to be accurate. You may have heard our Xero’s practice tools are evolving into one seamless platform with Xero Partner Hub. With focus on this new hub at present we want to be open that there are no changes for the sync between Client in practice tools and Contacts in your Xero organisation.
This maybe something we look into in the longer term but want to be open it's not in the roadmap at present.
We'll continue to keep a close eye on the support here, and share if there's any progress.

Practice Manager - Highlight/banner for notes
I would love to see an improvement with Xero XPM NOTES.
We seem to leave 2 types of notes.
TYPE 1: is URGENT, we want people within the firm to see it and read it. It would be good if you could select this note to be a banner across the top of the clients screen. Similar to how if the client has a debt it shows at the top. (love that function)
TYPE 2: is just an ordinary note that is sufficient with the current design.
It would also be great if you could share notes across multiple clients…

Please know that your feedback has been shared with our product team. Right now, we're making improvements to centralise the experience across XPM and HQ, bringing clients under one umbrella with Xero Partner Hub.
Atm we don't have direct plans for enabling the ability to highlight notes but we'll continue to review this as we keep developing this space.

Practice Manager | Client - Ability to create recurring job
The ability to view/ create Reoccurring jobs within the individual Client. at the moment its a very different setup to create Reoccurring jobs.
Additionally the ability to convert a single job to a reoccurring job. Will make creating jobs much easier.13 votes -
Xero Tax(AU) - Change end date to date of death
For deceased individual clients, the period end date for their final tax return needs to be changed to their date of death. The tax return should not still be reporting the entire financial year.
There is a cell where we are able to input client date of death.
Recommending for product team to code this update so the period end date of these individual tax returns are also updated to reflect the Date of death.

For electronic lodgment, the ATO's requirements to report the whole year with data of death as an extra field. There are validations and calculations that use this date. This is different to paper lodgment.
As this is the case, we will not make the end date editable.

Practice Manager | Quick Time Entry Job Status option
It would be a great help if we could update status for a job as and when the timesheet is done.
At the moment we go to each job and update the status at the end of the day. In my opinion this would save lot my time hovering around.

XPM | Files - Integrate shared google drives with XPM
Right now it's not possible to connect XPM to a google drive other than 'My Drive' for a Google Drive user. We hold all our client data on a separate Google workspace drive that is shared within the company and want to connect this client drive, so that tasks and clients on XPM can be linked to client folders or documents in the shared client google drive.
Its not feasible to move those client folders from the shared drive to 'My Drive' in order to access these on Xero practice Manager, and instead we have to paste long link addresses…

Xero Tax (AU) - Ability to show the difference between original tax and amended tax returns
Show the difference between the original tax return and the amended tax return in the clients tax estimation sheet.

Right now, though appreciate it's not ideal method - you can print the original draft tax return before you amend the return as a comparative.
We want to be upfront that we don't have any plans around developing this feature in the near term.
We'll continue to monitor the interest this idea keeps building for future consideration, and will share if there's any change.

Workpapers - Prepare on Cash basis
Ability to prepare workpapers on a cash basis is critical to be able to line up with xero reports prepared under Tier 4 cash reporting framework.

With new Workpapers you'll be able to select the accounting basis (cash or accrual) when setting up a workpaper pack, ensuring your calculations and reports align perfectly with your client's needs.
We've just started roll out to Australia, and will be following to other regions in 2026. We understand that you're eager for this feature, and we'll keep you updated on the progress, here.

XPM - Default staff checkbox as ticked when allocated to a job
After the recent XPM change where a user can allocate staff to multiple jobs from the Jobs menu, the staff at the Task level are added but the checkbox is not ticked. This means that the staff member can see the job in their timesheet, but not the tasks associated with that job, so cannot book time.
Support have advised they are aware this has changed and do not have a solution to get around this currently, other than manually going into each job and filling the tick box for each staff member for each task. As we create and…

Practice Manager - Bulk Data Updates
It would be great if we could bulk update data (default fields and custom fields) and have options on how we want to update the data.
For example, if we want to update the 'Manager' field, we could choose to base this on the group or client, and:
- Update all groups/clients to John; or
- Update all groups/clients that are currently Sam to John, and have a check box to untick any groups/clients that are to be excluded; or

As you'll have likely seen we are in the process of releasing new client and staff experiences to unify our practice tools under what will soon become Xero Partner Hub.
With the current work in progress we want to be open that bulk updates like what's being asked here aren't in the roadmap atm, however this will be something we consider as we keep revising our roadmaps. If there are any updates we will share on this idea.
