Display the Accounting Basis (Cash/Accrual) prominently on reports instead of hiding it under "More"
Hi Xero Team,
I'd like to suggest a small user interface improvement that would significantly improve the reporting experience.
The Accounting Basis (Cash vs Accrual) fundamentally changes the meaning of reports such as the General Ledger, Trial Balance and GST reports, yet it's currently hidden under the "More" menu.
As a business that reports GST on a cash basis, I recently spent several hours reconciling my BAS, General Ledger and Trial Balance because I unknowingly compared reports prepared on different accounting bases. Once I discovered the hidden setting and changed the report to Cash, every figure reconciled immediately.
The Accounting Basis is one of the most important report parameters because it changes the values shown throughout the report. It should be displayed prominently alongside the report date range and other key report settings rather than being hidden under "More".
Even something as simple as displaying:
Accounting Basis: Cash
or
Accounting Basis: Accrual
at the top of every applicable report would immediately alert users to the report basis and help prevent unnecessary reconciliation work.
This would be a small interface change that could save users significant time and confusion, particularly businesses reporting GST on a cash basis.
Thank you for considering the suggestion.
