Hi community, we appreciate you engaging and letting us know the importance of drag and dropping files into your invoices.
Since the release of the attach files feature within new invoicing our teams have being paying close attention to feedback and understand the efficiency you need in this process.
This is something our team are looking to make improvements for and we'll shift the idea to working on it. As this develops I'll keep you updated of news and provide more detail through the idea, here.

An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedAs of today I will be reverting back to classic invoicing until Xero get their stuff together and listen to their users. They've increased their fee and listen less. I thought this wasn't a firm just after our money? Hmmm...
An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedJust another idea that the higher ups at Xero don't give a toss about and just increase our costs.
An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedWhy has this functionality changed?
Why does Xero try to emulate worse software?
Who exactly is on your focus groups that tests out your software? An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedSometimes when trying to drag a file over the designated space, the designated space disappears.
It is incredibly frustrating.
How's about moving it back.Yazz Bhatti supported this idea · -

Thanks for letting us know how useful this feature is to you when creating invoices for your customers in Xero. We have some improvements the team are focusing on within the contact card to provide our customers more efficiency, which includes the ability to search to add an address for a Contact.
For the time being we'll change this to working on it, and I'll keep you up to date with any progress for this, here.

Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback on this here. Through testing we found that majority of our customers would Approve and email an invoice at once, which is why this was developed as the default in new invoicing. That said we appreciate others would like a different action as their primary option.
While we don't have direct plans for adding the ability to set a default for this action, we're listening to your feedback and looking into how we can improve efficiency and speed things up for you when using new invoicing through the use of keyboard shortcuts. We'll share more news when we've confirmed what this shortcut looks like and are closer to providing this to you all.

Hi team, as you may have noticed we've made a change to the Invoice Date and Due Date fields that now allows you to type in these fields rather than having to select a date from the calendar drop down. It does still require entering delimiters between day month and year such as a '.' or '/' (we understand there are a few situations when entering US date formats and are continuing to look into this).
We're working on also adding this functionality to the Payment date, and I'll keep you in the know of when this is made available, here.
An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedIt would be interesting to talk with the people who designed the new invoicing system interface and ask them why they would change the interface so much by removing existing functionality?
Users would easily move to a newer system as you're changing the underlying api's to move to a better more expandable and efficient system right?
Well, if that is the case, why have your developers ignored users by removing existing functionality or changing it to the point where it is no longer user-friendly.
Users will resist change - especially if that change is going to increase time to perform a task. The person in charge of the UI needs to be sat down and spoken with.
An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedMoving towards inefficient entry methods makes my blood boil.
A developer sets it up, thinks it 'looks nice' and moves along.
Whereas we, the end user, could be entering a large number of invoices in one batch into the system and to have to switch between keyboard and mouse when a simple tab or number entry would hasten input is important.
Time is money.
Each excessive keypress or hand movement costs us time and therefore money.
Please THINK about your end user.

Appreciate your feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing improved to create more efficiency processing sales with Xero. There are a couple of different requests around defaults looped into this one idea that would be good to unpick and keep separate so we can keep you updated on any progress for each individually.
For interest around being able to set a default for the 'Approve and Send' button - There's an idea that's been started for this here that I'd recommend joining.
Kathy, your recent comment sounds more like the ability to be able to send invoices to a contact group with new invoicing - we totally get the interest in this too and have an idea for this here that you can follow.
Taking on board feedback we have made a change with the new send experience so now, selections for 'Include PDF of invoice' and 'Send…An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedIt would be interesting to talk with the people who designed the new invoicing system interface and ask them why they would change the interface so much by removing existing functionality?

Hi everyone, to keep you updated on this idea work in this space will provide the ability to add a new blank row to your invoice one at a time. Once added you'll also have the ability to drag and drop the row to where you'd like it placed in your invoice, which we know some customers use to help format their invoices and space lines out.
I appreciate that some customers have mentioned wanting to add multiple blank rows at once, and want to be open that this isn't planned with this release.
Being under development atm, we plan to have this to you all before classic invoicing is retired and I'll be back as soon as it's out to let you know, here.

Thanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't…An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commented@kellymunro - it is entirely possible to transfer a user interface (which is basically what the invoicing system is) from one underlying technology to another. If it is not transferable then surely you need to ask your developer team why not?
If you duplicated old invoicing to the new invoicing system and then added the additional features you were considering, then perhaps you wouldn't have so much push-back.Instead what you're doing is ignoring your customers and stating that there are no plans (in other words, we don't care what you, our customer, thinks).
The way you treat your customers is with utter contempt.

An error occurred while saving the comment Yazz Bhatti commentedOMG I thought I was going crazy, because it takes so much more time to find a contact now.
Honestly, it seems haphazard.
Whomever is the head of app development needs to speak directly with end users - not their shareholders with respect to what features work and how they are used by customers.Yazz Bhatti supported this idea · -

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

Hi community, we understand your needs in this feature and want to assure you were taking on board all your feedback.
As many of you accustom to this idea will know, multiple addresses requires a complex solution. It's been something we’ve been moving towards for some time and we’ve done a lot of back end work that will allow us to bring it to you in the future.
We have 12 different products within Xero that rely on contact data, as well as many of our app partners. This means that contacts need to seamlessly flow across technology, products and all connections on Xero. And that’s exactly what we’ve been working on.
One of the reasons we announced the retirement of classic invoicing is because many of the features being asked for, just can’t be brought into classic invoicing. The old technology has too many technology limitations to enable this.…

Hi everyone, we value your input on the new invoicing experience and hearing the specific features that are of importance to you.
We have some updates planned for the contact card where you can enter details of your contact within new invoicing, and as part of this we'll be providing the ability to edit the Attention to field.
We'll keep you up to date with progress of this through the idea here.

Appreciate your input here, everyone. Our team is looking into this idea however, they don't have any dates planned on when they’ll develop the ability to schedule emails.
Totally understand how this feature could benefit your workflow though, being able to schedule an email to send during acceptable hours, so you don’t have to remember!
Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread. For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And if there's any movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know.

Have you done any further work on this? Or at least ask your developers to test the system before making it live?
