So others in the forum understanding what they're specifically adding their support for I've adjusted the title to reflect your first idea for filtering the Profit & Loss.
History of project activity is quite a different ask - we have an idea for recording history for all user activity that you may like to support and share in too. 🙂

Not directly within the Profit & Loss report, however there are a couple of options that you could find handy -
As inventory was mentioned - Smart lists that can be run within Contacts could enable you to view segment and view customers based on purchases, payments and locations within a period.
Alternatively, we've made a lot of improvements to Xero's newer reports and you could view the top 10 customers in a graph and their spending with you on the Income by Contact report.

An error occurred while saving the comment Charlotte Ing commentedTracking category defaults that can be linked to products and services or nominal codes. Currently Xero allows a customer or supplier to be linked to a tracking category however if using tracking categories for different areas of the business then a customer may purchase from different areas of the business therefore it would be helpful to have a product/service or nominal that could be defaulted to a tracking category.
Profit and loss by contact - it would be great if the p & l could be run and filtered by contact so that all costs & income are brought up in one simple report.
