We appreciate how this could be more intuitive. To confirm how this currently works - Within the body of a batch payment you can use Tab to navigate forward through cells, pressing Enter will enable you to edit the cell and then pressing Enter again will confirm the cells contents(highlighted).
When the cell is highlighted you'll be able to use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate up, down and across within the body of your batch payment.

An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Mindy Jacoby commentedHow has this not been fixed or added yet!! It is common in the accounting world to go by account number not account name. Who wants to look at it by ABC order and not by functional area, which is why numbers are used. Please fix ASAP!!

Hi team, appreciate not exactly what's being asked here but to confirm what's available at present.
In the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss you can now show Account code through the More option. From here, use the layout editor to drag & drop accounts to the order you'd like.
Once set up deselect the option to show Account code and your ordering will remain while the codes are not shown within the report.
You can also Save as custom so you can then access this layout anytime you need.
To go deeper with the insights for our team here, it's be good to know the specific reports you're wanting to see this feature in.
An error occurred while saving the comment Mindy Jacoby commentedAny update on getting the Budget Manger by account code?
Mindy Jacoby supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Mindy Jacoby commentedWe are in the midst of switching over a franchise organization to Xero and not being able to budget and import a budget based off of account code is extremely limiting! Not all companies go off of account name, and use account code/number, so without this option, it seems to devalue the accounting software

An error occurred while saving the comment Mindy Jacoby commentedVery important!! Large franchisor business models, do not budget alphabetically!!! Account codes are needed, as that is how revenue streams are grouped along with different expense categories. You plan and budget accordingly, not alphabetically.

Hi everyone, it'd be good to know if there are there any specific reports that you'd find this particularly helpful in?
An error occurred while saving the comment Mindy Jacoby commentedThe group by "Account Code Range" still isn't working! You tell it the numeric range and then it completely disregards number order. What logic is it using? Please fix!
An error occurred while saving the comment Mindy Jacoby commentedBoth P&L and Balance Sheet. When you go to group accounts by the rule Include Accounts by code and select "account code range" it does not put them in numeric order!! It scatters them.

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.
Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding the ability to split batch payments when reconciling, and understand it currently takes extra steps to reconcile when a single invoice among a batch has been paid, or when there are multiple payments to the same entity for different invoices.
Being transparent, we don’t have direct plans for making this change within the foreseeable future but if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!Mindy Jacoby supported this idea · -

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.
