Hi everyone, our product teams are continuously reviewing and reprioritising their roadmaps for future work and although we don’t have any plans to change the credit application process this year, this is something we will investigate more closely in 2026.
As we begin to explore work for enabling credit notes in the bill payments flow, we’ll reach out for input to help us shape the design and approach so we cater for the widest possible requirements. Thank you all, and we’ll be back to share when exploration starts.

Hi everyone, I want to assure you your voice is heard here and feedback is being shared back with our product teams.
We understand the desire to get this idea moving along and as mentioned in our last update we know this is an area that more controls and permissions would be most beneficial to our customers.
We’d like to share progress that we’re making for banking permissions - Work to provide more controls of sensitive banking information has started and will initially include the ability to restrict users from seeing sensitive banking information such as; account balances, bank transactions, and financial summaries.
We know this doesn’t relieve all pain points of this idea - It’ll be the first phase, a stepping stone of sorts in the development of per-bank controls.
As development continues we’ll share further updates as soon as they’re available with you all here.
Thank you for…

Oh dear, its not looking good for Xero. This is another basic function that should be available as standard, not in discussions or in development. You are arming all of these good people with clear requirements/problems to take to competitors.

Xero seems to think AI is far more important than the basic functions, but their customers won't be around long enough to use the AI if the basic functions aren't there in the first place.
We are currently looking at alternative accounting systems because Xero it is not suitable for our growing business in its current state. An error occurred while saving the comment

This response is very disappointing.
If budget is a problem then why not have an extra level of subscription that allows this type of restriction for bigger companies instead of a blanket fixed system that is not fit for purpose?
We would happily pay a bit extra for the system to match our growing business.

Hi team, work for requesting and accept deposit payments has progressed well. We're now just entering the stage of rolling out a solution powered by Stripe to a limited group of users.
As mentioned in my last update - we're extremely grateful to our community here, who have shared their interest and provided feedback on how deposits in invoicing would meet your needs. We'd love to hear your feedback on our developments for this feature early and have included anyone that has voted on this idea and is connected to Stripe in the first group rollout - You'll receive a banner in your organisation on how to make use of this soon.
I'll share more again here as the rollout widens. Thanks!

Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.
We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.
In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:
- Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
- Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
- Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

Heya team, we're now actively testing how reports could be grouped and accessed, and we'd love your input in this, so we can design a better report grouping structure that supports role-based access in reporting.
Get involved! Complete a quick 15-min online activity to test how reports are grouped and accessed:
- Part 1: answer questions about the current report grouping
- Part 2: explores a new grouping and role-based report access
👉 If you're interested, please go through the link here.
Thanks again for your support and contributions to developing a solution that works best for majority of our customers!
(Just to note - If you’ve already gone through this activity, there's no need to do it again — our researchers may have contacted you earlier 😊)

An add on is not acceptable, the ability to restrict report access is business critical. Management reports should have privacy restrictions as standard. Why are Xero being so ignorant to this basic requirement?

Hey everyone, we've been following the conversation closely and we want to acknowledge how important this is for many of you.
Atm, we’re on a long journey to provide more controls within Xero features that our customers need. Being such a broad idea that touches many areas of our platform, we’d like to encourage adding your votes to specific user permissions that matter most to you, such as:
- Bank Accounts: For more control over who can see bank account balances and access specific accounts, please see the idea here: User Role - Restrict access to individual bank accounts
- Sales and Invoicing: If you’d like to see changes to permissions around sales reporting and editing invoice templates, you can follow that conversation here: User roles: Restrict access to Invoice Settings
- Reports: To have your say on restricting access to specific reports, the relevant idea is here: User permissions - Assign user…

This or a similar function would be very useful, especially with the Go Cardless integration.

Wow, this looks messy. Is Kelly even real? Xero just keep going down in my estimation :(
